I don't know. There's a ton of homophobia at all levels of organized sports. I saw it in low level college. This is completely plausible. If there's a paper trail it will be found in emails and texts where they discussed it. If they did fire him because the players were uncomfortable, that's unfortunate but I'm not sure how I'd expect the Sox to operate otherwise.
