  1. One of my dad's favorite players. A shame he isn't in.
  2. He's sporting a 917 OPS in AAA with a 21/39 BB/K ratio. Way too many strikeouts but he's had plenty of seasoning and knows how to take a walk and can hit the ball hard when he makes contact. Get him up here. There's really not much more he can improve down in the minors. Any adjustments he needs to make to be a decent every day regular will have to occur at the MLB level. Might as well get started on that process.
  3. Let me preface this by saying that Jason has been better this year but he was absolutely AWFUL last night. In what was a competitive game he was often focused anywhere but on the action in front of him.
  4. He's faced some tough matchups and held his own. Last night at 3B I thought he looked as natural as he has all season. Not hesitating so much on his "plenty of time" pegs across and is looking more fluid. Looks like the Sox have their 3B for the next 8 or so years. Time to find some more good players.
  5. good job burr. trot him out there for another.
  6. that's like when you set the pitching machine on 90 mph and then tilt it. holy fuck.
  7. where the fuck do the astros find these guys?
  8. It's like 6 at this point. It's pocket change in the grand scheme of things. The hold up is likely Hahn trying to save face in the next meeting with JR. Of course I'd imagine even at his age JR can read a slash line and ask his GM why Yonder is on the roster.
  9. I think at best you could say many were saying "well if it works out fine" but not many where saying it was a good process. My own thoughts were "if it works, great, maybe they had inside info we don't" and if it doesn't work it's the single dumbest thing this FO has done (and they got some dumb ones to choose from) and everybody associated with it should resign in shame or be fired.
  10. Yea he'd be a folk hero there. Really think he should give it a shot after this year.
  11. His leg kick appears to be getting higher. He has the perfect swing to go hit 30+ HR in Japan and get paid a couple million a year.
  12. Castillo is a slightly overpaid strict platoon catcher. He should be facing every LHP. But Rickie isn't that smart.
  13. He's been outstanding in RF from all reports, making more than one game saving play. I have no reason to discount his +3 runs in RF given to him by Fangraphs. That said his true talent level is around 4 WAR (not 6) and no he won't live up to the contract. But again who cares? Signing Harper wouldn't have prevented any other move Chicago would make, not then, not now, not in the future. The Sox are just cheap.
  14. On pace for about 4.5 fWAR, which is better than anybody we got not named Moncada. His 30% K rate is concerning but you can see he's still found ways to contribute as he's been legit in RF and is adding some value on the bases as well. He'll never live up to his contract but there are worse things than having a 4 WAR OF. Would have fixed a big hole in RF for Chicago over the next 5-7 years.
  15. They should DFA Alonzo and give the spot to Palka because it's a rebuild year and who cares. But they probably won't eat Yonder's contract, not yet anyways. It cannot be said enough how stupid the "friends and family" plan was. I'll say it again: it was really dumb.
  16. Yea he's handled it. Still opened up a hole at 2B (Madrigal is years away) but whatever at least he looks decent there.
