  1. So far Tilson gives a good professional AB more often than not. Could not say that about Engel.
  2. As I've said a million times so far the season has gone well. The only real bummer is the injuries but what can you fucking do.
  3. Not this year. You can't carry an OPS below 600.
  4. I've moved to "neutral". There are a lot of bad crews out there. I usually try and catch the out of town broadcast and the quality isn't great. Yesterday the Tribe's play by play guy made an incredibly cringe monologue on TA and "playing the right way". I had to mute it from the 2nd hand embarrassment. So relative to the rest of the league they are OK. Jason has def gotten better this year but FFS he needs to get a HR call. His calls are awful.
  5. Nova .5 fWAR and a 4.26 xFIP. Not bad. So far a dumpster dive that is working out alright. Helps when the team plays good defense behind him, which for the most part happened last night.
  6. It's also sorta like comparing Derrick Rose before his ACL and after. Once Nate hurt his arm he's never been the same. He had about 2 fWAR and a FIP under 3 before 2017, since then in about 50 innings he's managed .1 fWAR and a FIP around 4.7. Not good for a reliever, not good at all. He was great, now he stinks. Time to move on.
  7. Missed most of the game because of the weird start time. Went to grab some food after work and sat down to see an 8-1 game. Nice. Good job to keep putting the pressure on as well to the last out. Lineup is legit not awful. Pitching staff however and defense remains shakey AF. Moncada having a monster game was great to see. His LH swing is one of the prettiest in all of baseball.
  8. b****ing about b****ing about posters that b**** and b**** about a sports team on a message board...
  9. If the Sox had a pitching staff this wouldn't be a bad team. Fuck.
  10. lol, when are some folks going to realize that you've gone rogue?
  11. No kidding. Shoulder and TJ and a history of middling at best results in between? Sorry, there is little upside here. Just cut bait.
  12. It's only May and it feels sorta like August with all the callups and recycling of bums. Yes blame injuries, but blame once again the complete failure in FA. Yonder got off to a decent start and might be a 1 WAR player (same with Nova) but if that's all you got you did jack shit in FA and would have been better served trying to fill those spots with guys already in the org -- especially given that it's ostensibly a tank year. There's really not much entertaining about this roster outside a handful of youngsters. Pitching wise there is almost nothing to get excited about. It's 2 steps forward and two steps back mostly.
  13. I have no idea if this is true or not but the fact that you ID'd as the only possible where they thought they could find value cracks me up. College relievers are the new moneyball! And yet they won't even consider using an opener. If they are targeting relievers you'd think they'd be open to changing how they use them to get more value.
  14. Engel has been given 857 PA in a White Sox uniform. During that time he has -.6 fWAR and a wRC+ of 57. You gotta be bleepin' me.
  15. tommy John? Bruh they got the bone saw on standby.
  16. It's weird being a fan and actually seeing a semi-competitive club. Kinda forget what actually caring about results feels like.
  17. It's the lowest of the virtues imo. Especially in an incredibly cut throat industry filled with smart people. Was Theo "disloyal" to Boston or is he just a genius level IQ seeking another challenge? It's obviously the latter. Loyalty just got Jim Boylen paid tho, so it pays off in these shit orgs run by JR.
  18. Last year the Sox got like 5 fWAR total from their rotation. This year they are on pace for about 10. That's awesome. There has been some development on that front, despite losing Kopech. Gio and Lopez turning into cromulent 3rd and 4th starters is huge.
  19. Loyalty is job requirement #1 in this org. As long as you toe the company line you can suck and stay on the payroll.
  20. Renteria is bad. Really bad. They need a real manager ASAP. Joe Girardi is tanned rested and ready man. Only 54. Plenty of experience. Has won in a much tougher environment.
