RR
There's a lot of carrots being passed around in this locker room: from the kind, cool uncle figure Abreu or the warm fatherly affections of Renteria. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, in fact I think most pro athletes respect that approach and react to it better than the stick. But there is a def a time for the stick. There is a fine line between playing loose and playing sloppy. The Sox, for all their talent, have had a few games this year where if you squinted you couldn't tell any difference between this bunch and RVs 2017 team (for example). Other than Dallas, I don't really think there is a strong -- whoop that ass stay focused son -- type in the locker room or the manager's office. Maybe Don Cooper but that's not enough and Cooper, lord knows, I have a lot of other issues with.

I spoke last night about how a manager can lose and win games on the margins. People like to poo poo lineup construction because at best it only results in about .1 run expectancy difference a game but when you add up mistakes at the margins like lineups, leaving pitchers in too long, not making the correct late inning subs and so on -- shit adds up. At most it's 3-5 wins over a 162 game season but that matters. I credit rick for not bunting this year but other than that he's doing a lot of the same moronic shit he's always done.

Our guys never seem to realize when a pitcher is struggling with command and feeling the pressure, it's a great lineup, but it could be outstanding with just a bit more situational awareness.
