  1. If he played DH I think he could hit about 250/350/400 next year. 1 WAR. What a god damn hitter he was. The ideal man to tudor Eloy. Get it done Hahn.
  2. Does anybody else feel Soxtalk has come into its own this week? Like I feel all the hard work the admins did last offseason really set the site up for this week. Really just feels great to be a part of a growing community that has provided incredible levity, insight and perspective this week and all offseason.
  3. That Sturgill Simpson guy ain't bad, thanks for all the recs in this thread. Not really my cup of tea but I could totally see myself going to one of his shows, especially in a small New Orleans venue on a steamy spring evening uptown.
  4. This is the first time in the whole offseason I feel confident the Sox are the favorite, maybe even heavy favorite to sign him. I just knocked on every piece of wood in my house boys.
  5. I've been recommitted to fitness for about 4 years now after I had some knee issues so my mile times are pretty close to HS. Although in college I could def bang out more mileage a week these days I constantly get minor strains and have to relax and switch to the bike or rowing machine. Another thing I've noticed in my 30s is that recovery time is incredibly longer. If I do a hard squat session now I'm sore for 2-4 days. Foam rolling and nutrition helps but I def miss the days when I could train legs more than once a week. You get an appreciation as a weekend warrior for what the aging athletes go through as they hit 32 or so.
  6. Yea I like that track. Also reminds me of being in my young 20s in NYC. Ah those were the days.
  7. I like some of their songs. Overall, it's pretty bad. I mean, compared to an album like Aquemeni or The Infamous...
  8. OK guys Trump is on, time to get serious. Ya'll got any tacos?
  9. Just one example, something I was listening to this week. Music taste is subjective as fuck. If you want a good example of mumble rap... This beat is fire. That beat can make me run a mile in under 7 minutes, 30 second boost when I put it on.
  10. So much good music out there man. The pool is just really fucking deep and you gotta dive deep these days. The days of the record labels curating the shit is well over. It's the sound cloud and Itunes era.
  11. there's a lot of great production and beat making. Obviously the lyrics and flow on top of it are often pretty bad. But Playboi Carti is fire you can't convince me otherwise. I'm a hip hop head and there's more out there than just mumble rap if that's not your thing. Just got dig a bit or listen to curated stuff. KEXP's street sounds is a good start you can listen online.
  12. kids are dumb. More at 11. It's a golden age for media and music. Mumble-rap ain't great (some is pretty good like Migos) but look below the surface.
  13. yea Soxtalk's bandwidth is gonna 404 we already used up a month's quota.
  14. why not both? Never really understood people that are proudly ignorant -- of anything.
  15. those shitty shades that don't look good on anybody are all the rage right now. I blame quavo.
  16. Dude I just bought a Dominican "Comida Tipica" restaurant on on the red line. FML.
  17. Curses, culture? Too many shitty players is what leads to bad teams.
  18. fair enough. there are too many known unknowns here. but again the "friends and family plan" isn't SOP so if the unusual methods don't work I think in hindsight we can evaluate them pretty well. if it nets manny Hahn just earned himself the right to see out this rebuild. if it doesn't? I'd say Hahn should be fired.
  19. If they don't sign manny and jon jay nets the Sox the 5th pick instead of the 3rd imma bump this conversation my friend. throwing a single penny at a marginal player like jay is a no go in a rebuild year.
  20. you can't defend this signing without the manny angle (no, saying he's better than Engel ain't it) so some folks are gonna die on that hill.
  21. steamer projects a .316 OBP. I'm dying here fam. Imagine trying to defend a player on a .316 OBP. Of course when the Sox had a team OBP of .302 in 2018 maybe in the land of the blind the .316 guy is a fucking king.
  22. gotta fill the void with something. otherwise just gotta stare out the window and wait till spring.
