why the fuck would an agent/GM leak something to the media instead of just picking up the damn phone and calling a GM/Agent to get a counter offer and lay it all on the table? Like, do you guys have any idea how this shit works? It's a small club. Everybody is just a phone call away and nobody is playing tiddlywinks. If an agent straight up lies to Hahn word is going to get around. You don't bluff and bullshit like you're donald trump in these negotiations.

I punched a fridge about two years ago and I must have broken a vein, my hand swelled up incredibly, had a bump about an inch high. I was pretty freaked out I couldn't move it at all or make even close to a fist. Within about 12 hours the swelling was 10% in size. No broken bones, but a few days later just randomly it broke open again and it swelled, not as badly, but it set back the healing. /random story

Without knowing anything about the specifics I'd say that any report of "club ___ is taking a hard stance on [years] [salary]" is usually BS. You always leave things open to a counter offer, that's negotiations 101.

In all honesty it just depends on how juicy he is up in Minny. His aging curve is quintessential PEDs. You're telling me a guy like Frank had his bat speed fall off dramatically in his mid 30s (injuries and all) but a guy like Cruz somehow not only maintains it but from 33-37 puts up his best offensive seasons, maintaining a BA over 280?

God dammit that's a great deal for the Twins. He's purely a DH but he's a good DH. Would not be surprised to see him put up 3 WAR next year and hit 280/350/520. That said, there's a non zero chance his BA craters and sucks up a lot of his value. Not much value at 230/300/470.

It felt like it. Supposedly my trainer was an expert at preventing injuries as well. Some good that did. I like to fire up a game on occasion. OOTP is actually a pretty good way to learn about most of the 40 and 25 man stuff and then the offseason schedule with rule 5 and such. In OOTP you can often find really good players in rule 5, at least if you have the 1st pick. I usually like to try and tank my first two years, it works in fake baseball.

on a side note with some downtime this week with the holiday I decided to start up an OOTP game. I did a fantasy draft, set injuries to "low" and then 3/5 of my rotation was out with either tommy john or torn labrums by may and then my first three draft picks, all pitchers, all huge bonus arms tore out their UCLs within a year. Rage quit.
