  1. So Noesi still had 93-94 on those previous 2 pitches but they were both high, it kinda looked like he was overthrowing them to get that velocity, then he tried to throw more under control on the next pitch, it came out of his arm at 87 and flew 400 feet.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ May 17, 2014 -> 04:19 PM) Looks to be running even worse today on that ankle. He's just getting abused by offspeed pitches right now. He may have just been not hustling there since it was a clear DP.
  3. I haven't seen much of Gordon yet this year but I liked how his swing was on that 94 mph fastball he fouled off. Fairly quick and on it, even if fouled back.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 17, 2014 -> 04:09 PM) The thing is, we don't even know what his injury is. Is it bone(spur?), tendon, muscle? We have no idea, and are just guessing. Now, Mark Parent did say that he would sit Wednesday with the day off Thursday, but obviously something changed. I wish nothing was said though because it did nothing but create second guesses. Let's also not discount the fact that Herm Schneider is one of the best in the business and he of this entire staff deserves the benefit of the doubt. Didn't he hurt it getting slid into in the Cubs series? And it's still an issue a few days later?
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 17, 2014 -> 04:02 PM) Robin only played about 2100 games at the major league level. I really think JR needs to pay you to consult. You obviously know far more about the toll of playing 40 games in a row takes on a player. Too bad the idiot had to play him last night. He probably would be 100% today. You guys aren't cheering hard enough.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 17, 2014 -> 03:49 PM) Please, tell me some more about how the Sox have failed at spring training fundamentals. Can't wait to hear some more. Also while we are at it, let's just go ahead and map out an infallible play chart and mail it in to Robin. To be fair, we are now putting up moderately better numbers fielding than the Indians. We've taken a couple steps up and are no longer the worst in the league with the gloves!
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 17, 2014 -> 03:44 PM) Lets not confuse occasionally criticizing decisions with having an obvious agenda. In no way do I think Robin is perfect, but you would find a way to criticize a decision robin made if the Sox won the World Series 15-0 on a sale no hitter and 4 Abreu home runs GMAB. Only 1 player in MLB has more games played than Jose Abreu and none of the other guys that have played that many are rookies.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ May 17, 2014 -> 03:36 PM) Why do you continue to act so surprised by this? The Tigers have 3 superstars in their peak, while the White Sox are in rebuilding mode. He also gets to act surprised by that because he hasn't yet paid attention when people respond to him that the Tigers have played 6 fewer games.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 17, 2014 -> 03:33 PM) As opposed to falling back on backseat driving, to which I would say enjoy your breakfast So you never, ever suggest that you think a GM or manager is doing something wrong in any of your posts and you believe you should just trust them?
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 17, 2014 -> 03:16 PM) What I'm saying is honestly you have no idea what you are talking about and you have no idea what happens within that clubhouse, yet you sit here and act like you do. These men are professionals, all of them. Don't pretend to give Robin credit, all you do is act like he peed in your Cheerios last season and you can't get over it. If you're going to fall back on the "you don't know what's happening in the clubhouse" thing then the only reasonable way to evaluate a manager is based on what's on the field, and last year's team was worse than eating cheerios soaked in urine.
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 17, 2014 -> 03:06 PM) Can you believe that the tigers have played 37 games and Miguel Cabrera has played in ALL 37 OF THEM??!! The horror!! Fire ausmus he is new and doesn't know what he is doing and he disregards everything everyone tells him including the trainer, and let's Cabrera do whatever he wants. And Cabrera has had so many leg and ankle problems. People need to stand up and take notice of these travesties So you're saying he's had 6 more offdays than Jose Abreu so far? I mean come on, I'll give Robin credit for not benching him way too often like I thought he would once Konerko was signed, but why does everything have to be the extreme? We have 2 other guys being paid who can play 1b/DH on this roster and the guy carrying the team who has never played 100 games in a season doesn't even get a day off when he actually gets hurt. Why is it so hard to have just a little bit of balance and put him on pace for 150 games instead of 162?
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 17, 2014 -> 11:08 AM) I don't understand why anyone would be upset that Abreu DH'd last night after an off day. Robin said he would give him 2 days off, maybe things changed. Herm obviously has a big say as well. It is just so silly how many people think every idea they consider bad is Robin's and every good one is that of someone they apparently think Robin ignores most of the time. I know, I mean, the White Sox have played 43 games and Jose Abreu has only started 42 of them! He had a day where he only was a pinch hitter! He's had like 3 extra at-bats off! That's not extreme in the least.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ May 17, 2014 -> 01:55 PM) Hope it doesn't work. http://www.csnhouston.com/blog/astros-talk...ainst-white-sox "You get a piece of it, you can rename it."
  14. QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 17, 2014 -> 12:20 AM) The Soptic deal is looking pretty good. QUOTE (oldsox @ May 17, 2014 -> 08:14 AM) Correct. Soptic still at High A, pitching in relief with so-so results The downside to remember is...Gillaspie was available because Sandoval wasn't going to be replaced by him. He was blocked and that reduced his value. This wouldn't be something we'd complain about except we traded a solid reliever for another 3b who is now, regrettably, similarly blocked.
  15. QUOTE (Butter Parque @ May 17, 2014 -> 10:13 AM) Sometimes people just get on Ventura merely for the hell of it. My God, we're talking about a day off! Yes,he said he would give him a day off (or maybe 2), and yes, he hasn't given him that day off as of yet. And...So what? He was also supposed to be off the game he hit the 3 run homer against Oakland. His ankle isn't going to spontaneously combust from playing these games. After all, he was off on THURSDAY!!!! Can we not criticize Ventura for one freaking game (a game we won, mind you)? QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 17, 2014 -> 10:16 AM) Welcome to soxtalk! Breeding ground for future mlb coaches, gms, trainers, and managers! At least the White Sox major league roster has a clear record this year of being solidly healthy and ready to go every day, because if this team had spent the first couple months of the year badly banged up and missing multiple pieces people might start wondering if Ventura's refusal to rest people could be connected to that.
  16. QUOTE (Butter Parque @ May 17, 2014 -> 10:17 AM) If Jeff Hoffman is still there in round 2, don't you have to take him if you're the Sox? That's great value (albeit delayed) Yes.

QUOTE (juddling @ May 17, 2014 -> 03:42 AM) I think Red saying he was dead was his way of trying to get Lizzie to drop the questions. Red knows how much danger she would be in if anyone (including her) found out that she was his daughter. I mean....just WORKING with him almost gets her killed on a semi-regular basis...lol. I believe that is what her 'father' wanted to tell her before he died....and that is what Red said he couldn't and smothered him to keep hiim quiet...... My guess is that we'll find out the story Berlin told about his daughter will somehow tie directly into the Red/Lizzie/daughter story.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 16, 2014 -> 08:10 PM) Surprised nobody has attempted to get Cooper's take on the top 3-4 arms (including Hoffman). It would have been hard for him to suppress his opinion/s. Or he would have made some smart-alecky comment about not having time to do both draft scouting and manage a big league pitching staff with a revolving door bullpen. The rest of the coaches throughout the org are probably familiar with whatever his format is and would take that into account even if he hadn't looked at a guy.
  19. QUOTE (oldsox @ May 17, 2014 -> 08:51 AM) I just wish Sox would move Sammy Ayala up to Kanny. Not that current catchers there are not playing well, but he has spent two years at Bristol. Why can't we sit Williams for 2 weeks or so and let someone else DH (a catcher perhaps) so Ayala can get some playing time? Where is Ayala now? When I interviewed him last year he credited the team for working with him on a whole lot of things, technique, handling pitchers, strength training, and hitting, during extended ST.
