  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 09:53 AM) There is no doubt in my mind he is looking. He is always looking. If there's something available for a price comparable to what he's paid for the guys he's picked up this season...he'll move.
  2. Well, Flash player updated this morning and the description included the phrase "MAJOR performance improvements" (caps theirs). Let's see if it actually means it, it's spent 3 months crashing my computer daily ever since the last update.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 08:46 AM) It's been talked about before, but Carroll is running the team like he is back in college. If Wilson is better, then he should start, but you can't just throw money at players and then stick them on the bench. Is that five rookie QBs starting week 1? Luck, Griffin, Weeden, Wilson, & Tannehil? Carroll's job is to win games, and if he thinks Flynn is less likely to win games than Wilson, benching the money guy is the right move. If he has a 9-10 win season behind Wilson it creates Job Security even if Flynn is sitting on the bench the whole time.
  4. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 09:32 AM) Nice to see Phegley finally hitting better in AAA. Hitting .323 with a 1.051 OPS in his last 10 games, .283 and .882 in all of August. Does he have to be protected on the 40 man this offseason?
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 09:34 AM) Mark Haddow promoted to W-S, takes Thompson's OF slot. Seems like a lot more late-season movement this year than last in the minors. Less need to cover guys called up to fill big league spots on a competitive team.
  6. Gavin likely to the DL, in case anyone didn't guess.
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 06:50 PM) Tarp back on, per ESPN Chicago 2 minutes ago Well, that'll probably be it with how that blob looks.
  8. For a guy who once batted behind Yaz, that's impressive.
  9. Little bit of a gap before the big thick lines hit.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 06:38 PM) Is Tyler Flowers showing enough here in the 2nd half to get the nod as the everyday catcher in 2013? Have to fear overpaying AJ based on his stats for this year and the likelihood of a decline. If we're planning on making a run to repeat as division champs, no, we need AJ back. If we're keeping a salary of $95 million and we've sold off more pieces/stayed young, then why not.
  11. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 06:30 PM) I was one of 'em. Of course, for a long while he was dreadful. Glad as hell that he's turned it around. OPS by month: April: .569 May: .896 June: .330 July: .515 August: 1.328 (before that HR).
  12. Somebody better homer quick because this is about to get delayed.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 05:55 PM) I've never thought Gavin would be in the rotation next year. Then that leaves with a lot fewer options other than Santiago. Sale and Quintana appear to be the sure things right now.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 05:53 PM) A lot would have to go wrong for that to happen Like Gavin Floyd popping something in his elbow?
  15. The job of patents is not to protect Apple to infinity. The job of patents is to protect people who produce ideas enough to reward them but not so much as to stifle competition. Is the consumer better off if Samsung is putting out phones with the same basic setup as Apple, a few years later, and pushing Apple to make better products themselves? Or is the consumer better off if only Apple can ever use those ideas? No one would benefit if Xerox still had control over the concept of a mouse.
  16. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 04:52 PM) How's Castro doing in the minors? He's been on the DL again.
  17. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 04:48 PM) If he goes, who is the next guy called up? Axelrod? Rosters expand next week anyway.
  18. For having a limited warmup, that was a great inning Hector.
  19. Floyd was pulled after 2 innings today. According to Hawk, he was pulled because of "Elbow Discomfort" (in his pitching arm).
