  1. LOL, Youk didn't have that one either.
  2. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 01:14 PM) Semantics, again, but you aren't being charged MORE for not owning a home, homeowners are being charged less. For the Obamacare tax to work that way you should be gettign a tax break for owning insurance, not being taxed because you don't. So wait...there is a difference between me being charged more than you and you being charged less than me? Fascinating. That's why this bill was constitutional right there.
  3. Lotsa strikeouts so far. 7 K's through 1.5 innings.
  4. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 01:30 PM) grandersons hr would have been out almost anywhere but that RF porch is absurd. Last ngiht's HR was completely cheap. Today's was legit.
  5. Didn't like that steal attempt after having almost been picked off the step before.
  6. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 01:00 PM) He's part of this rookie class that has the Sox in front by 3 games on June 30th though. And his 18 at bats have clearly been key in that effort.
  7. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 12:53 PM) Trumpeting 9 rookies. It's folly not to think Jordan Danks could step in and be a suitable replacement for Viciedo. D2 might be a tolerable backup OF. He's a 26 year old who spent 2.5 years in AAA after being drafted out of college.
  8. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 12:51 PM) Obama is getting rid of the home tax write off to pay for Obama care? If I do not cash in the mortgage interest deduction tax credit, I am paying a higher tax rate. Under the exact same standard you used, agreed to by the Chief Justice I might add...I'm being forced to buy a mortgage. Which is confusing since I don't have one.
  9. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 12:46 PM) only if people will be forced to buy products and services from me too. i am entitled. start sending the checks and pay your fair share. No one is forced to buy anything here, unless I've been forced to buy a house (and I'm a renter, so no I haven't).
  10. It's so easy to find a power hitting LF that the team with the $200 million payroll has DeWayne Wise in LF.
  11. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 12:37 PM) right after they pay me back for all my money they have taken and wasted. So then you have no problem with the government creating this tax and tax rebate, as long as this program is successful in controlling health care costs. Great.
  12. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 12:34 PM) Aw darn, no A.J.? He's been red hot in this series So has the weather.
  13. Which is why y'all have paid back the government every other tax credit you've received in your lives, right?
  14. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 12:05 PM) 3.) Where could the Sox find a slugging LF'er? Really difficult to say .... Oh wait, Adam Dunn played LF as recently as 3 weeks ago.
  15. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 11:41 AM) What about MOREL?? We just HAVE to continue his development, right? It'd certainly be nice if he could add another cheap player to the roster, but I think it's clear that he has to prove he can stay healthy first, and back injuries are a mess.
  16. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 11:27 AM) Some guys will be better (likely Beckham, DV, John Danks, Lexi), some guys will be worse. Taking advantage of this year does not require the addition of a super-stud SP or RP, unless we get news that Danks or Crain is gone for the season. Otherwise, a few tweaks, barring injury, and we'll be good to go. Thome, not Johnson. Don't forget...we also go into this offseason with >$15 million to spend just to get back to this year's payroll. Re-upping Peavy or AJ or Youk would take up chunks of that...but with this many rookies contributing, there's going to be plenty of money to fill that 3b hole if we want to spend there.
  17. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 11:14 AM) I don't think you can pencil in seasons like this next year from Sale, Peavy, Konerko, and AJ. The Sox have to take advantage of this year. I've said that about Paul Konerko the last 3-4 years. I'm now willing to place funds on him proving you wrong.
  18. Amusing photos of reporters running out of the Court Thursday morning, decision in hand.
  19. I'd certainly be more likely to watch a championship game on New Year's.
  20. Everything I've read suggests the bulls fully intend to extend Gibson?
  21. Rookies who have had a month where they have collected 40+ hits, 10+ steals, 10+ 2b: Joe Jackson Ichiro Suzuki Mike Trout
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 10:43 AM) It was garbage time and really hard to judge someone there, but he appears to be at the very least Ohman's equal. 95 mph from the left side with a motion that isn't straight over the top and something offspeed thrown in. If he doesn't walk the bases loaded he'll be effective against lefties, and have a good shot against righties.
  23. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 30, 2012 -> 01:36 AM) I don't know how you can say we're deep. Bruney , Omogrosso and Septimo have yet to prove anything at the Major League level. Any pitching staff with 6 or 7 rookies is asking for trouble. I'm really never pessimistic and I love the arms we have but we are definitely not deep. I get that having 5 rookies in your bullpen at 1 time isn't exactly ideal...but when we're talking depth out there...the guys we're bringing up to fill those slots are throwing 94+. Even if they're rookies getting by on stuff, that kind of velocity out of your 7th and 8th guys in the bullpen = depth.
  24. That's a very interesting path the kid's hands take to reaching the set position.
