Reading around today, it seems like this is the first time I've seen much of the world starting to seriously consider the possibility that Greece could leave the Euro and wondering whether the Eurozone could survive it.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 9, 2012 -> 10:07 AM) Because 3 month old babies are huge security threats. I mean, they can drop bombs, but not THOSE kind of bombs. They could be wearing hooded sweatshirts.

Senator Lugar released both a congratulatory statement last night and a long, much more detailed statement basically ripping Mourdock.

Ah, the classic story of the farmer in Texas not wanting to sell land rights to an oil pipeline and the oil company seizing it in Court.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 9, 2012 -> 09:46 AM) The most realistic chance of winning?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 9, 2012 -> 09:38 AM) The military's role in the world is a huge issue for Libertarians. That one is the biggest difference between myself and the Libertarians. Socially and Economically I fit their views more than anyone else. They may say that they care about the military, gay rights, drug rights, but the fact that Ron Paul ran for the Republican nomination and his supporters fit there ought to tell you all you need to know about which issue they really care about.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 8, 2012 -> 11:26 PM) What intelligent people believe that? I'd call them cretans, not intelligent. People from the island of Crete?

Fukudome complains to Japanese press about sitting

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 9, 2012 -> 08:57 AM) [southern accent]Balta, that is the hardest .176 batting average I have seen in my 33 years of baseball [/hawkism] Only 33? Is that a Hawkism from the 80s? -
Chris Sale is now the CLOSER?!/Until he's not (Update)

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 9, 2012 -> 08:57 AM) The guy is really sore, and they are making sure it doesn't turn into more than that. Look at Jake Peavy. His pitching through pain caused him to change his mechanics to over compensate and he tore something completely different. This is developing a starting pitcher at the major league level. We usually aren't privy to this because normally it happens at Winston-Salem or Kannapolis type of places. Hearing that they want to move him back to starting this year, and seeing Sale talk about what is wrong, actually makes me feel better. If that's the case, then I think it's quite fair to second guess the fact that he isn't on the DL. -
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 9, 2012 -> 12:05 AM) Is there any other way to describe Watson this series other than an abject failure? I mean this is just ridiculous. Yes, one could describe it as gutty and playing hurt when he should have been out for 3 weeks.

Sale back to the rotation per KW, MRI comes back clean
Balta1701 replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 9, 2012 -> 04:39 AM) That's all fine and good, but isn't the risk even greater you fall out of the playoff hunt in the middle months of the season because you don't have a strong enough 5th starter...or that you're tempted to put him back in the rotation too quickly again as a result of the team falling further and further behind? Isn't 170 IP a bit too ambitious? Seems like 150 would be the more likely goal...but NOBODY knows what is going on or what goals the White Sox had in mind before the season started, let alone what their plan is for next week. If Stults and Humber get lit up Saturday and Sunday, there's going to be even more pressure mounting to bring him right back or risk the season being consigned to irrelevance. Hell, after dropping him to 70 innings last year, getting him to 100 innings this year would be on a normal pace and 120 might even be pushing it. -

QUOTE (knightni @ May 9, 2012 -> 02:41 AM) Give him a few days off, make him the #5 starter who gets skipped every now and again. If he kills his ACL and has to have surgery, so be it. Wait, he has a knee problem? -
Fukudome complains to Japanese press about sitting
Balta1701 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If Fukudome wanted to earn a starting job, he shouldn't have stunk with the Indians last year, and he should have been ready to really step up and contribute in the shots he's gotten this year rather than hitting .176 out of the gate. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 8, 2012 -> 10:16 PM) What is your point. If the Sox stabilize their performance a bit maybe some of us will come off the ledge and shut up more during games. The team deserved the meltdown as it deserves praise for the nice win. Remember if Santiago gives up one more hit, this is another crushing loss. People think its fun to drop the sky is falling crap because they never get called out for it when theyre embarrassingly, pathetically, foolishly wrong.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 8, 2012 -> 09:36 PM) It is funny. Now that I've given up on the team it's much easier to take and just laugh at the ineptitude of this team the last 2 seasons and six weeks. Here comes the walkoff. Suddenly the Indians own the White Sox. Way to blow a late three-run lead, White Sox. Here come da walkoff. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 8, 2012 -> 09:45 PM) I repeat: Why do the White Sox never win games like this at home? Two outs and bam ... Indians to break the tie. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 8, 2012 -> 09:47 PM) Santiago looks s***ty vs. lefties even. Our team blows. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 8, 2012 -> 09:55 PM) That's because you are the best fan I've ever seen. I don't know how this team has not driven you insane and gotten to you as it has many of us. I'd be OK if it would just act normal once in a while; you know, win at home, go .480 on the road, not lose so many heartbreakers, etc. Sigh.

QUOTE (Jake @ May 8, 2012 -> 10:08 PM) or gets caught at a bar The only guy in the sport that gets massacred for every single drink. I understand the past, but it's still kind of odd. Seems like it should be private unless it affects his play Seems like it has repeatedly.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 8, 2012 -> 09:59 PM) Nice slide by Rios. This game isn't over yet, BTW. As far as your other comments, I've told you before. ... I never said I was a good fan. I am a fan though. If you're going to join the piling on when thigs go bad, then it's fair game to pile on you when you predict things that dont happen.

Tips didn't go on contact there, Stone, r saw the high bounce before going.

Yes!

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 8, 2012 -> 09:56 PM) Rios back on track again finding the gap. He was all over that pitch. Shouldn't you be telling us how the Indians are going to win this or was that only cool last inning?
-
That might have been the biggest RF gap I've seen in year's.
-
Yay Rivers.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 8, 2012 -> 09:54 PM) Indians going for the one inning knockout blow with Chris Perez in the game. They smell a little blood in the water and want to take us out now. Dude, they're the home team. There is no chance of a save. Why save the closer?
-
QUOTE (Jake @ May 8, 2012 -> 09:50 PM) Lots of s*** to a guy that just had a scoreless inning! I hate not letting his results today dictate how much s*** we give him. Today = success But I hope he goes down when Crain comes up No, of course it's a game thread. People should constantly give everyone s*** then slink away quietly when things don't go wrong, until the next time when things do go wron and they can say how right they were, which is of course, the important thing.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ May 8, 2012 -> 09:35 PM) Indians walk off coming up in Three... Two... One... ...... QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ May 8, 2012 -> 09:35 PM) Predicting a Hanahan walk off coming here. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 8, 2012 -> 09:36 PM) Santiago over Nathan Jones? Is Ventura insane? Seriously, you go with the guy who has the best stuff and who hasn't give up 5 homers in about 10 IP. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ May 8, 2012 -> 09:36 PM) Santiago here to lose it. Just a disgusting job of staff management. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 8, 2012 -> 09:37 PM) Santiago to pitch the 9th? This will end well. This was nice.
