GT 5-13-12 Sox vs Royals, 1:10pm

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 13, 2012 -> 03:05 PM) When did francouer become this legendary rightfielder that Hawk is telling me about? That dude has a cannon. -
QUOTE (fathom @ May 13, 2012 -> 03:01 PM) AJ make sense for them? Except for the fact that it would involve the White Sox having to trade with the Nationals.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 13, 2012 -> 02:35 PM) wow, that website is terrible. I did a simple query change using the interface and got this. You sure it is legitimate? well, anyways, besides the amateurish site design and coding, I am convinced you are wrong about spending and revenue. keep spending for all i care, but no bailout for the states. just let it play out i guess. no one can convince you that you are wrong, even when your theories prove out to be clearly incorrect with time. i'm sure there it was just the mean old Republicans ruining it all for you. You can find those numbers elsewhere. California is above average in local spending, but is now below average in state level spending, because of the gigantic set of cuts over the past 5 years. And every time they have to institute $10 billion in cuts, they lose more jobs than they expect, and they wind up with less revenue than they expected because more people are out of work.

Well that's it for Duffy. -
QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 13, 2012 -> 02:08 PM) the problem is, even with the cuts, they are spending way too much. If they could, I'm sure the California Democrats would spend even more, but they don't have the money. They are in debt because of a very high unemployment rate and lots of entitlements going around. Too many people, not enough jobs. too much spending. California, of course, currently sits in-between the big government states of Kansas and Alabama in terms of state spending per capita after those budget cuts. There's really no level of spending that won't get called "too much". A 20% budget cut is too small of a budget cut. The ending of California as a well educated state is not nearly enough of a downgrade, too many people have high school educations. And when the cuts do exactly what we keep saying they'll do, making the economy worse and spurring more cuts and putting more people out of work, why that's exactly the point. It's the only way they'll learn that jobs are for the important people.

Let's go Red Sox! -
QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 13, 2012 -> 12:01 PM) This means higher taxes and more stimulus for everyone. The model's working! You're right, they're doing exactly what you want, cut teachers, cut salaries, cut universities, cut investment, cut health programs, increase spending on putting people in jail, and bam. See that giant cut in government? Solved everything. That's why the state's economy is soaring. Cut government and everything comes out roses.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 13, 2012 -> 09:07 AM) It will be interesting. In theory, it's the ultimate back-court vs front-court game. The Lakers' bigs need to step up like they just did in Game 7 consistently over 7 more games to stand a chance. Thunder in 6, only because you know they're going to have one off-night and Kobe is going to steal one. The Lakers bigs are good enough to win this series, but they have to more than just step up, they need to actually care for 7 games in a row, rather than shutting down for 3 or 4 games in the series.

Sale back to the rotation per KW, MRI comes back clean

QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 12, 2012 -> 11:05 PM) Yes, set themselves up for next year. Next year they will need a top of the rotation starter, a 3-hitter, a CF'er to start with. Never mind catcher, third and second baseman. It is crazy to think they'll have a better chance to win next year under any circumstance. This year will be the Sox best chance to make the playoffs over the next three years. BTW, do Danks and Ramirez count as bad money now because they very well could by the end of the season. There's lots of fail here, but um...that one is special. Huh? -

Surprising use of Stewart. That's more confidence than Robin's shown in him all year.
-
Man Brent, you were working a solid AB again until that last pitch.
-
And Herm never had to walk out to the mound.

Alcatraz got the axe, "Touch" was renewed for a 2nd season.

QUOTE (daggins @ May 12, 2012 -> 09:06 PM) I'm not sure you know which team you are watching. I feel like they will be lucky to score 1. It'll be a late inning solo shot off Hochevar on his 98th pitch in the 8th inning. Because you know, pitchers that Brent Morel can hit are just unhittable to everyone else.
-
This is one painful looking defensive inning already.
-
I thought Sale was about to kill himself.
-
Maybe i'm fooling myself but those swings by Morel did look better.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 12, 2012 -> 08:56 PM) 14 people in this thread tonight. I don't think there's been more than 10 in a game thread all week. That's what happens when we're losing early. It's a party!
-
QUOTE (Jake @ May 12, 2012 -> 08:41 PM) lol game threads are getting bad when we fail for not scoring in the first inning of the ballgame We're losing early, so this is an awesome game thread to post in because you can tell everyone how awful everything is and blame whoever you don't like in the org. Game threads like Wednesday and Friday are terrible threads to post in because the Sox got the lead early and got good pitching, so it's no one's fault that they're winning. That's why Wednesday and Friday each only got 174 posts while the games before that when the team was losing or fell behind had 400 and 500 posts, and this game is well over 100 in the 2nd inning.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 11, 2012 -> 03:01 PM) Honestly with as many issues as he has had defensively this year, it wouldn't surprise me if that is a part of the problem. It is how we always knew when Crede was hurting. That would make sense with the big surge in strikeouts.
