  1. According to Forbes his original share was 19%. However, there have been reports for years of him and his family buying up shares as they become available. https://www.chicagobusiness.com/consumer-products/more-reinsdorfs-want-stake-sox https://www.forbes.com/profile/jerry-reinsdorf/?sh=1441d62a6d28
  2. I know exactly how it could happen, JR says it is happening so it happens. I don't see how that is a bigger slap in the face to the fanbase than bringing him in originally and then trying to cover up the DUI.
  3. The normal schedule would be to do a coaching search during October, right? Have a coach lined up in November before free agency starts?
  4. Realized this today... Season ends on Wednesday October 5. if they don't announce a coaching search/retirement on October 6th or 7th, that means they're going to at least wait and see if LaRussa is healthy enough to do it. So end of next week, we'll know.

    2022 Catch All

Tonight at 6:14 CDT, a NASA spacecraft will be intentionally crashing into an Asteroid so that scientists can see how much the impact causes a change in the asteroid's motion. Our first true planetary defense/revenge on behalf of the dinosaurs mission.
  6. Not any more, they would have had to start a major winning streak after losing the first game or two to Cleveland.
  7. The absolute worst part of that wasn’t Yolbert, he at least had a nonzero chance of becoming a great player. The worst part was that same year they had so much money left over that they sent it to Texas to get them to pay Nate Jones’s deal. Just plain were too lazy to scout enough players so didn’t bother trying, turned it into some petty cash. The money saved, of course, can’t swing a bat and was only a fraction of Joe Kelly’s deal. Zero chance of turning it into a ball player or making the team better, but Ricky got a longer nap every day that month.
  8. It would be very white Sox to replace Sheets with Pederson and have it be a defensive downgrade.
  9. Well Detroit has been completely out of the race for months and they’re still playing hard enough to kick these losers asses. So I do think it’s fair to ask for a higher level of commitment, effort, and dignity than this.
  10. Does everyone remember how last year there was the occasional rumor that the Bears wouldn’t fire their GM after a debacle of a season because they liked him or how he was helping with the new stadium? Let alone keeping Nagy when the fans were chanting weekly to fire him? Could you imagine the response of at the end of the year the owner said Im in charge and everyone stays? The McCaskey family is a better ownership group than this.
  11. Plus injuries happened and no one could have ever foreseen that.
  12. They won’t care about this. They were going to bring him back regardless- because the owner has decided so.
  13. So it’s champagne day for Cleveland?
  14. He did retire but he gave some hints that it might not be permanent in interviews done at the time. https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/giants/bruce-bochy-has-retired-giants-manager-he-really-done there appear To be some local news articles that also suggested there were people in the Giants that said it was time to move on, but how much of a role that played I can’t guess. https://www.mercurynews.com/2019/10/24/its-time-to-stop-saying-bruce-bochy-retired-from-managing/amp/
  15. Elvis Andrus: “I would be willing to take a job if you paid me to do it.”
  16. That first dude in the stands he ran over to? Adrian Beltre. https://larrybrownsports.com/baseball/albert-pujols-celebrated-adrian-beltre-700th-hr/604512
  17. The idea that a team could spend this much money and disappoint this badly again and the GM could have this terrible of a record and they just say ho-hum everything is going to plan is just baffling.
  18. I think this is about 43 days too late.
  19. The counter point to pushing FA spending right now - yes they have lots of money off the books after next year, but they also have to replace those guys. Gio, Lynn, and Grandal clears $50 million yes, but it’s challenging to fill 2 starters and a starting catcher for that money. If the team were to go well into the red in ‘23, that could leave them having to actually rebuild in ‘24, including trading Cease to try to reload. Might be the right move even, but worth considering that in advance.
