  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 01:28 PM) My opinion is that Prince is a safer bet than Pujols for a 7-8 year contract. Prince is just a great player. I'm of the exact opposite opinion. Despite the age differences, I think Prince is going to get old in a hurry.
  2. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 01:07 PM) But they went to a Super Bowl and a Conference Championship game This really should not be in green. You may hate some/most of the things the Bears have done, but the wins and losses are right there in front of you.
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 10:38 AM) Just want to interject this... Do NOT take the Bright Angel trail lightly. More people need rescue from that trail than any other in the country. This is for two reasons. One, the Grand Canyon attracts all manner of people not really in shape for a serious hike. And two, unlike a mountain trail, a deep canyon trail goes down first and then up... this is bad because it's easy going down (except for the knee pain), so people just keep going and going, then they have to hike back up. That is when they realize they are in over their head (either due to not being in shape, not leaving enough time, not having food and water, etc.). It's a great trail, but be prepared for it. I went down approximately 20 meters and that was it. What I really, really, really want to do someday is 2 groups...one departs from the North Rim, one departs from the South rim, keys are exchanged while camping at the bottom, and then each group heads up the opposite way.
  4. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 11:35 AM) City of Chicago is considering it. It's not just morally disturbing, it is also business stupid in my view. For one, why limit your pool of potential employees like that? And for two, people who've been out of work longer will also be hungrier and more dedicated, all else equal. To me, I'd almost prefer the person unemployed, unless they are unemployed because they were terminated for cause. If it was the case that avoiding hiring the unemployed was a bad business decision...why would so many places be doing it? Either businesses are simply uniformly idiots who have no interest in all these benefits you're proposing, or excluding the unemployed gives them a lot of benefits which overwhelm the things you point out.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 01:29 PM) So when do we invade? Nevermind, we'll just send Sean Penn, he'll fix everything. http://www.cnn.com/2011/09/27/world/meast/....html?hpt=hp_t2 Really, you genuinely expect anyone to shiver in their boots over the Iranian navy? You can't possibly actually be scared of this, and yet you think that the Kenny "The Genius" Williams Liberal is the one to laugh at...not the threat of the Iranian navy.
  6. QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 12:32 PM) I wonder how excited Javy Vazquez is to be managed by Ozzie again. lol He's a FA at the end of this year.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 09:07 AM) ChuckGarfien Chuck Garfien Adam Dunn not in Sox lineup tomorrow. So he won't break MLB record for worst qualifying batting average. Maybe Coop will start a bean-ball war and he'll be forced into action off the bench.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 12:07 AM) The A's approach worked while Giambi/Chavez/Tejada/Hudson/Mulder/Zito were relatively affordable and when various substances were not tested for.
  9. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 09:23 AM) Bernie Miklasz, a St. Louis radio guy was speculating that LaRussa may have interest in managing the Sox for a year or two before moving into the front office. He says that LaRussa has stated that he eventually wants a higher up position. Not sure how likely it is, but with the JR & TLR relationship it is certainly plausible. Although I did read somewhere that both KW & TLR do not want to work with the other. If KW is already offering his resignation though, that could give the higher ups a way out.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 10:46 PM) Sox winning at wrong time...Cubs losing at the perfect time to improve their stock. I still don't care about MLB draft order outside of the first few picks.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 08:57 AM) Both of those guys have had some major injury issues. With Morneau it is concussions, so like Peavy, I don't hold that against the manager. With Mauer it has been whispered that conditioning in the off season could be a problem, which could very well go back to management. If the Mauer whisper is true...then you have to really question the wisdom of signing him for 8 years instead of letting him become a Yankee.
  12. QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 10:09 PM) What don't you get... Kenny was in from 01-03... Who knew the White Sox, what they do?????? 04-11, The White Sox were on the map.. Thomas, Ordonez, Lee?
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 10:00 PM) Yep, kinda sucked WCIU came back from commercial late. Torontos broadcast came in just as he was stepping off te mound.
  14. QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 09:59 PM) damn...I got a little teared up. I may have stood and applauded here 500 miles away.
  15. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 09:58 PM) That was cool. I'm gonna miss Buehrle. He'll be back.
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 09:54 PM) 97 pitches. Start the 8th, pull him. That should be worthy of a good one-minute standing O. This..
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 09:50 PM) He say anything else about plans for next year? Who cares what he said publicly?
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 09:42 PM) It's more that we're risking falling out of the top 15. There's no way this team has a type a FA in the budget.
