  1. This buys out one year of free agency for Glasnow.
  2. Would Jerry Reinsdorf be petty enough to cancel a multi billion dollar transaction because of some fans chanting that?
  3. I would bet you that Warren Buffet is up there specifically because he doesn’t do that. Lots of guys are up there because of one move and one lucky break, but he’s up there because of consistent performance over decades.
  4. I’ll be honest. When they got 5 games up, even I didn’t think they’d drop back to .500.
  5. You think a little accusation of sexual assault would cause the white Sox to change something about their staff?
  6. Luis Robert is too hurt to swing a bat. Quibble with the decision to not put him on the IL if you want, but he absolutely should not be playing baseball today under any circumstances. He tried to tough it out for an 0/5 last night and couldn't physically keep his hand on the bat.
  7. Joe Kelly is already here next year. I’m not sure they can afford big energy.
  8. He definitely tweaked it on a swing at the end of the game on Wednesday. He was tolerating the pain and continuing a hitting streak up to that point, but Thursday he was in really bad shape and it seemed to get worse later in the game (although the guy throwing 99 was probably part of that.)
  9. In 2021, they were second in baseball in first inning ERA. In 2022 they are 27th.
  10. This team with 1 notable change in the rotation is quite similar to last year’s staff. They also spend an extra what, $20 million on the bullpen? In the process they’ve gone from 5th in ERA to 19th. That’s a pretty serious underperform.
  11. I have no idea. I would start by hiring a search firm to gauge interest from something like 30 qualified candidates from diverse backgrounds and collect their backgrounds and resumes. I would then schedule interviews with a dozen or so and spend several hours with each of them discussing their philosophy, experience, examples from their backgrounds, and how they would fix this mess. I would filter them down to 2 or 3 based on these interviews and bring the next batch in for second interviews then hire the person who is the best fit. You know, how professional teams do it. The idea that it can only be a washed up previous manager with experience or a fiery former white Sox player is the same poison that has been dumped into our last 3 coaching searches. It’s exactly how we got where we are today. Don’t do it again.
  12. I can’t say this enough. If you can name the likeliest manager replacement you have done your search wrong. We do not need someone with a great reputation, we already tried that. We need someone who has studied what happened to this mess and who has ideas for how to get out of it. Don’t prejudge based on someone’s name or race or experience with the organization like we did last time, sit down and listen to people.
  13. You are clearly not thinking of the same pitcher as me.
  14. One of the callups will be Martin to start tomorrow and once he’s called up they won’t be able to send him back down.
  15. How many pitches did the best closer ever throw?
  16. Trainer: “hey does his swing look weird to you?” TLR: “uh what? Huh, oh no I’m pretty sure he’s always done that. “
  17. You say something is unprecedented a lot. Usually I think you’re wrong. This time you’re correct as far as I can tell.
  18. This is getting bumped as Robert tweaked that wrist again on Wednesday and cannot physically keep both hands on the bat while swinging, but he continues playing and they didn’t even have him try to bunt in extra innings.
