  1. QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 07:32 PM) Ha, they had some new cookie places open in the past couple of years that were my fav. I dunno, cookies after a night at the bluebird?
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 07:59 PM) Oh my...I really hope that was not real. At least it's topical
  3. (just to reiterate, it's not a belief in He'll that gets you labeled a hate group)
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 07:43 PM) btw the "gold standard" always seemed kind of silly to me. Why does a shiny metal have so much intrinsic value? Now it's used in a number of technological applications.
  5. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 07:25 PM) I ain't scared of Balta. HE CAN'T DO s*** TO ME!!! THEN WHO WILL DOLE OUT AWESOME NICKNAMES?!?!? THEN WHOOOOOOO!!!!! With you suspended, the same person who comes up with them now.
  6. Last time I was there it was a full meal and bar, but you did have to pay for the meal.
  7. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 07:16 PM) Royals call up Moose. Too early in my opinion, but exciting nonetheless. Too bad he can't pitch. That rotation is abysmal. Good ol Super 2 deadline.
  8. QUOTE (southsidepride15 @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 06:21 PM) LOL, yes and I'm sure Balta figured it out as well (please no ban, we're only having fun). I know, I just like to intimidate...(inserting evil laugh)
  9. What happens if Pierre continues costing games and sometime in July he's replaced by a Cuban Monster who puts up a .950 OPS and propels the team to the Central? Who wins then?
  10. A good health care read from the economist.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 05:49 PM) why did you start with hhmmppph then. Because it was a very musical hmph?
  12. Balta1701 replied to Kyyle23's topic in SLaM
Hmph, so I'm driving to Chicago to see U2 at the spaceship on the lake, tickets that I've now had for about 19 months, and I just now learned that the opening act is Interpol. I'm fairly happy with that.
  13. QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 05:00 PM) Is there really a team out there stupid enough to offer Pierre a 2-3 year deal at this point? There's every chance in the world the White Sox might offer him a small contract or Arbitration and he would take it Hopefully someone reaches far and overpays the s*** out of him. If the Sox offered him arbitration he'd be insane not to take it. That's like $7.5 million more than he should be paid next year.
  14. QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 04:56 PM) True, but they were both silent and seemingly under the impression that the other was going to take the lead, seems like anytime two players are going after the ball on this team, they go silent. How many times have we seen two outfielders both heading towards a flyball and almost mess it up because nobody said anything? If they were both silent, it's the guy coming in's fault if there's a collision. The guy coming in always calls off the guy moving away. If the guy moving away hears nothing then he's going to try for the ball because he assumes he has a clear path.
  15. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 04:56 PM) What will they say if Lebron plays poorly next year? "Man I can't believe Derrick did that".
  16. I'm just not a fan of biological organisms.
  17. QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 04:47 PM) Morel and Pierre are both to blame for not handling that play correctly. Had Brent vocally given the play to Juan and taken a route more appropriate to back up the ball if Juan missed, Juan would have gone after it harder and he probably would have made the play. Morel kept on a route to try to catch the ball. If I were Juan, there's no way I'd be going that hard after the ball. Guys break ribs and end seasons on plays like that. Juan Pierre is coming forward, Brent Morel is coming backwards. Juan Pierre is the guy who can look down to see where the other guy is and call him off without losing track of the ball. While heading away from the plate, if Brent looked down to see where Pierre was, he'd have to look back over his shoulder to see the ball. That is the LF's ball all the way, the guy going away from the plate has the wrong angle to look for other players. If the LF can't get to it then he should back off way earlier and be doing whatever he can to say that he doesn't have it, or getting in position to turn it into a single. If Pierre was going to make a stab at the ball at all he needed to call the 3b.
  18. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 04:37 PM) Bunting is a lost art. Hard to really find many who can do it and do it right consistently. Juan tries maybe to use it more as a bluff to then draw the fielder in and slap at the ball. Do they keep track of "Bunts for base hits" as a stat somewhere? It seems like 2003 Pierre pretty much won a world series by doing that.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 04:33 PM) MDGonzales Mark Gonzales Pierre working on bunting off BP machine. [sits back and waits for murderous rage] Well, he did need the practice
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 04:28 PM) Sometimes, and sometimes it was awesome. They ended up shutting it down because apparently they had been dealing large amount of Heroin out of the back door. So, I'm guessing the awesome part involved the heroin?
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 04:07 PM) I lived above it in Oxford. That sounds awful.
