Jimmy Johns - $1 subs - Chicago - today only.
QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 03:56 PM) Do you have a La Bamba? They were open late in Normal. Not great food but my taste buds weren't great either when I went there at 3 am. I don't think there's any food that I wound up regretting eating more than that one.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 03:33 PM) If you guys think Omar is the greatest, fine. I still say he's a black hole in the lineup. Black hole might be too strong a word, but any team starting Omar Vizquel regularly is a team in a world of hurt. You're at least partially right, Vizquel actually did seem gassed towards the end of May when Ozzie had spent the better part of the month benching Morel for him. But yeah, as others have noted, have some perspective. "It's not a good idea to play him every day" is not equal to "it's a terrible thing for him to play 3 days a week".

Anthony Rizzo, the key piece in the Boston deal for Adrian Gonzalez, is set to make his debut today. He's 21, 1b, and was apparently slugging .715 at AAA.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 03:28 PM) I do realize the at bat discrepancy, but I would counter to say if he played as much as Beckham he would hit about .150. He'd run out of gas. Beckham had 444 at bats last year. Vizquel had 344. If Vizquel went 0 for that additional 100 at bats last year, he'd still have hit .213.

FWIW, the party line right now is still that the Bulls FO doesn't expect to make any big changes this offseason and will hold onto its draft picks because of CBA uncertainty.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 02:28 PM) That same team with someone who can hit the occasional open shot and Rose/Boozer figuring out how to run a pick and roll wins that series easily. But they have to play Korver's minutes and no more, because otherwise we're sacrificing defense.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 02:24 PM) The Mavericks don't have that and they're in decent shape to beat the Heat. Relying on a "Lebrondown" to happen against us simply isn't an effective strategy.

Juan Pierre
QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 02:24 PM) Actually, his much-heralded bunting skills have gone south as well. He still seems to do a great job of getting a sacrifice down. He just isn't fast enough to make it a difficult play any more.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 02:19 PM) Balta basically wants 2006 Kobe. Not happening. There is no perfect 2-guard out there. IF it were possible to land Kevin Martin, we'd be fools not to seriously explore all options. Yes, I actually do want 2006 Kobe. The real issue is...how the Hell do you beat the Heat unless you can find that? That's the real problem. A guy who could make us better in the regular season might well make us worse against the Heat. That was the catch-22 that was built when the Heat put themselves together. They've got 3 of the best offense/defense players in the league surrounded by guys who can sub in and out for offense and defense. If they add some size this offseason...how do you beat it if you can't match it? We tried to outdefend Dwyane Wade and still lost. Do we think that we can actually outscore Dwyane Wade?

Illinois enacts Internet sales tax law
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 02:18 PM) Though I agree that the state will probably throw some money at them just to make sure. Which is probably exactly what is going on here...other people are getting money by making an empty threat, so why can't we?

Illinois enacts Internet sales tax law
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 02:00 PM) I can't really provide much more info because of privilege through work, but suffice to say a firm or two isn't a trend. Can I apply the same standard when only a firm or two winds up actually relocating out of illinois?

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 02:02 PM) Yeah i posted that a few weeks ago, pretty disgusting. How about the leaders of the school? How does common sense not come into play there? Illinois enacts Internet sales tax law
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 01:47 PM) I can tell you for a fact there are a ton of places in the financial sector still HQ'd in Connecticut. Of course there are. I personally met one of the former heads of VP's of AIG Financial Products who lives up there (yeah, that AIGFP). I found it particularly interesting to watch that trend of tax evacuations start to turn around.
