6 man rotation
QUOTE (Special K @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 10:01 AM) Danks is the best pitcher on the team, he's not going anywhere near the 'pen. Sox should wait for Edwin Jackson to have a couple decent starts and look to unload him for an outfielder that can hit. If the Yankees would consider it, a Jackson-Gardner or Jackson-Granderson deal would be sweet. We've always got Sale as an insurance policy for Peavy. Chris Sale right now is NOT an insurance policy for Peavy. If you trade a starter, your insurance policy for Peavy is Jeffrey Marquez. It'd take Sale 1-2 months to build up to being a 6 inning+ starter.

Financial News
Monthly Jobs Report comes out Friday. The current estimate for private sector job growth, which doesn't include the continuing government job cuts, is 38,000. That is not good.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 09:50 AM) He isn't going to replace him for the 40+ minutes per game that Lu made last year. All though with Dengs injury history, I almost expect him to break down at some point next year. The hard part of all of this is that we have to wait and see what happens to the CBA before we can truly speculate with any hope of accuracy. Ellis would also have been torched by Wade.

Wow, Humber. You fo' realz?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 09:07 AM) And I don't know where that number came from, but it isn't right. Humber is 9th out of 39 qualified starters at 4.66 r/s . Danks "leads" the AL at 3.71 r/s. Prior to yesterday it was 100% true. Subtract 10 Runs from Humber and you can see what it was prior to yesterday...3.66.

Drawing a Texas Congressional Map
There's a trick here though...the best Congressional map in the short-term is the one that maximizes the number of seats for the Republicans right now...but if Hispanic Demographic growth continues, then that makes the short term strong map the long-term weak map, because it exposes more districts to growing Hispanic populations over time. Unless of course you stop mid-decade and redo the Redistricting to make sure that never becomes a risk.

6 man rotation
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 12:47 AM) It seems like it has been working as of late, why not keep going. Because we have a lot more offdays in June, which means that those pitchers are going to go a full week between starts.

Ozzie's "old school" style killing this team
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2011 -> 04:49 PM) At least Mitchell and Danks should be learning how to bunt right now. So that they can become better 2 strike hitters?

Wow, Humber. You fo' realz?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 08:33 AM) Its hard to say that yet. I want to see him get beat up, not have his curveball, have some really bad fielding behind him etc before I say that. I don't really remember his facing any real adversity this year to speak of. Except for having the worst run support in the AL.

Realistic Adam Dunn expectations
QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 07:52 AM) We signed for $10mm for 4 yrs. 1.5 yrs left. If he can hit, bring him up. The arbitration/ FA clock is already running. No, the clock is not running for him. He was not signed to a deal that required cutting him at the end of the contract like other players have been. He will not be a free agent until he accumulates the ~6 years of Service time. After 2012, assuming he's on the big league team, he will simply be a player whose contract the Sox can renew, which will then be followed by a couple years of arbitration eligibility. If the Sox hold off calling him up for most of the year, it's conceivable they could buy another year of pre-arbitration with him.

The Democrat Thread
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 30, 2011 -> 11:08 PM) Why? Some people seem to think the supply is fine. This one is real simple. The amount of oil produced by humanity as a whole has essentially stayed totally unchanged since 2006. Prior to that, it was constantly increasing, but since 2006 it has plateaued. This has happened despite the price of oil going through the roof multiple times since 2006. Right now, there is almost no oil in the world that can't be extracted at a profit, yet there is no additional oil being processed. Oil discoveries peaked back in the 1970's, and humanity hasn't discovered enough oil to keep up with production since then. Known oil reserves have been declining since the 1970's. This is the most oil that the planet can produce. What happens now is that as economies try to grow, if they try to grow using oil, then the price of oil goes up. The only way the price of oil can stay under control is if the global economy shrinks, as it did in 2008. Oil cannot be pulled out of the ground any faster than this.

And that's a White Sox winner!!!!!!!
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2011 -> 08:53 AM) No, everyone would be declaring the Sox end if they went 4-6 as well. Maybe even if they went 6-4. At this point, a 4-6 stretch does start killing the Sox. We are running out of time to keep losing ground.

And that's a White Sox winner!!!!!!!
QUOTE (iamshack @ May 30, 2011 -> 10:44 PM) Let's just get to .500 somehow...no one in this division is going anywhere fast. I've been saying that all month and theyve only crept upwards. They really need these next 2 games with Humber and g! on the mound

Missouri River flooding
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 30, 2011 -> 07:46 PM) Oh, and my dad was wondering why in March when things started to thaw and they knew how much snow melt was to come why they didn't gradually increase the flow of the river during that time frame. It seems that they just let it go and now it's going to have its way with several communities along the way. Are there control dams on that river? Otherwise, the early melts saturated the aquifers, so that this years la Nina rains had no where to go.

Arizona requires you to carry your papers
QUOTE (Tex @ May 30, 2011 -> 06:23 PM) Which is why the government has allowed this issue to exist for a hundred years. The only way for it to cost less is to create a guest worker program with a smaller benefit list than currently offered to legal workers. They've allowed it to exist for 100 years because it's the only way we can keep those dirty lazy Irish Japs Slavs mexicans out.
