  1. This pace is really going to favor the Celtics. everything's in the half court and strongly defended.
  2. Qadaffi's 29 year old son and 3 of Qadaffi's grandchildren were killed by NATO in an airstrike. I'm sure the killing of the kids was done in as humanitarian of a way as possible. They've got to be guilty of something, right? They could have chosen to have other grandparents.
  3. I still hate having to cheer for the Celtics.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 1, 2011 -> 03:31 PM) At this point, it's pretty clear that Gavin Floyd is never going to be better than a 4th starter with occasional flashes of brilliance. Still has a lot of trade value though. You guys continue to have no idea what the average "4th starter" is. That's a guy with an ERA around 5.5.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxrd5 @ May 1, 2011 -> 03:22 PM) Rios and the rest of the Sox normal everyday outfield has been an embarrassment this year. Worst defensive outfield in baseball by a large margin. I know they've been terrible, but do the stats actually show they've been the worst in MLB?
  6. Balls being hit hard combined with White Sox defense = bad result.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 1, 2011 -> 02:40 PM) the celtics would not give the bulls permission to interview thibs until after the playoffs, and the bulls wanted to hire before the end of the playoffs. a waste of rose's first two years imo. And the Bulls wound up being unable to hire anyone just about until the playoffs ended anyway.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ May 1, 2011 -> 03:08 PM) Gonna have to wait another few days for any possible coaching changes, as no way will JR make a move (Ozzie or Walker) with Thibs getting the Coach of the Year Award and Rose getting MVP tomorrow. WTF? You really think this is anyone's thought process?
  9. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 1, 2011 -> 02:43 PM) You know who I feel sorry for. Brooks who has to market this. The worst scenario must of been a slowstart. I don't think anyone had forecast a disastrous start. After last year, I think a lot of people forecast a disastrous start.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 1, 2011 -> 02:34 PM) Well, the 1983 White Sox were 16-24 and 7 games back on May 26th. That was their low point. Of course, citing examples that happen once every 20-30 years (or 2006 Cardinals, 05 Astros, Rockies, etc.) doesn't instill too much confidence. Of course, the fact taht you just cited 3 teams that did something like that within a period of 5 years does instill a bit
  11. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 1, 2011 -> 02:28 PM) Yeah, they were talking about that yesterday...how we have given up 43 runs or something in the 7/8/9 innings in 28 games. Personally, I don't think that is outstanding, but I didn't think it was some outrageous number either. That'd translate to ~ an era of 4.6.
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 12:31 AM) This might be the worst tornado outbreak in recorded history, Really, we've still never seen anything like the tri-state tornado.
  13. F***.
  14. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 07:34 PM) I really have to slam my face against the wall whenever I see religious conservatives talking about end times bulls*** and all these horrible tornadoes that have killed hundreds of people being signs from God, when this kind of extreme weather intensifying every year (and tornadoes happen every spring) is exactly what the "do something about climate change" crowd has been screaming would happen for the last decade and a half. Except they were being shouted down by the same people. Oh well, guess I better get used to it With some storms (i.e. Nashville last year, Katrina and Rita, the huge heatwaves that keep striking the north pole) I'll say the climate change people have a point. On the storms earlier this week, there's really no way to make the point sound correct, and they're better off keepign their mouths closed. This week's storms were a La Nina driven phenomenon, but it's a once in a few centuries la nina type phenomenon. Yes, the fact that atmospheric CO2 has changed is affecting every weather pattern, but there's no way to draw any sort of link on this one.
  15. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 1, 2011 -> 02:23 PM) Did you also get funny looks from other parents as they walked by a beer reeking child? Can't say I recall that.
  16. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ May 1, 2011 -> 02:17 PM) The Heat outside of the Big Three are garbage...If KG dominates Bosh, no way Wade and James can score enough to beat Boston IMO Especially since Wade has to score against that boston backcourt, and they've destroyed him this year. Yeah, this is all about Bosh.
  17. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 11:21 AM) When I was a little kid my dad would take me to BP before the game and once a homer was coming right our way and I reached up for it with my glove but I was a bit too short so the guy behind me ended up catching it with his hat (which is pretty cool in itself). But the guy was holding a beer and it spilled all over me so the guy felt really bad and gave me the baseball. There were plenty of jokes in that BP session about me being drunk and covered in beer, good times. Craig Grebeck hit a line drive foul ball right at my head. Nailed a guy's beer on the way to me, but because the plastic beer cup shattered, I couldn't see the ball coming. My dad managed to snag it out of the air before the ball nailed my head, but I wound up with most of the beer on me.
  18. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ May 1, 2011 -> 01:05 PM) If the Sox don't win the division, I really hope the Royals or Indians do. Can't stand the Twins (obvious reasons), and I have to many Tiger fan friends that annoy the crap out of me. Can't they just all lose? I'm still bitter at the Indians for that whole "Decade of the 1990's".
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 12:13 AM) It's back, for now. We'll see what happens next week, when more is supposed to be happening. All that happens this week is a hearing on extending the stay, which the owners ought to win. The 8th circuit won't actually hear the real case for some time.
  20. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 03:15 PM) WTF? A quarterback....really. Its not like this is a vet to back up Cutler either. A late round project qb when we already have Hanie who looks like he could could be a capable number 2. How do we only have 1 offensive lineman at this point, no wrs, no cbs... I love the first two picks dont get me wrong. Im willing to give the third rounder a shot before I complain, but this is just asinine. Technically, the Bears don't "Have" Hanie. I believe under the old rules he's a restricted free agent.
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 1, 2011 -> 12:32 PM) Thibodeau to be awarded Coach of the Year award this afternoon according to ESPN "sources" WHY DIDN'T WE HIRE THIS GUY IN 2008? /RANT.
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 1, 2011 -> 01:54 PM) Quite a bit surprised by the start Memphis has gotten off to against OKC today. I am not among those who believe Memphis is all that great. Of course, this is one of the downsides of all that young talent OKC has....inconsistency. I dunno, you see teams that have been off for 4-5 days come out sloppy against teams that just played all the time in the playoffs. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see the Bulls in trouble at the half tomorrow.
