2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 10:08 PM) I know every playoff series is tough but Atlanta´s ISO offense and habit of taking bad shots is just what the Bulls need to get to the ECF. BTW, I wonder how bad Hinrich is hurt, they´ll need him to at least try to contain Rose... Hamstring sprain, MRI today. Even if he's back, that's the kind of injury that you're not 100% from for a while.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 07:03 AM) How we're going to improve with our salary situation and some of the contracts we have (Arenas, Duhon etc.) will be very difficult. The Magic really need to hope for the return of the Allan Houston rule

Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 01:45 AM) Either way, the Bills were going to come out a winner. There are plenty of rush linebackers left - though obviously none as good as Miller - but not many QBs and you aren't going to get anything close to Dareus in round 2. I'm still hoping for Kaepernick and whoever the next best rush linebacker is in 2/3. I'm not going to believe the Bills come out a "Winner" in a draft until I see a guy they draft playing in his second pro bowl.

Science/Technology Question
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 04:50 PM) Here's a question. How the hell do you invent the Internet? And how the f*** does it actually work? My mind is boggled by this question daily. If we link computers together and they back up each other, then if the Russkies nuke us, we won't lose command and control, so we can nuke them back.

Catch All Anything Thread
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 02:58 PM) Is that the one that hit MO/IL/IN some decades back, where there will multiple tornadoes of like F4 and F5 all travelling together in a long path? I think you're thinking of the "Tri-state tornado" which people still debate whether it was a single tornado the whole way. That was Missoura, Illinois, and Indiana. That one is far and away the deadliest tornado in U.S. history. The Palm Sunday outbreak of 1974 was the most recorded tornadoes on a single day, I believe.

Financial News
Whatever happened to NSS posting the data dumps. 1.8% GDP growth in Q1. Not good. I'll bet you it gets revised down. Weekly unemployment claims 429,000, 4 week moving average jumps back above 400k for the first time since Feb. Not good.

4/27 Games
QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 11:03 AM) I bet there is some injury related thing going on with Flowers. If that were true, that would be a bad sign in itself as well.

Predict the hits tonight against C.C.
QUOTE (kane0730 @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 02:49 PM) This would be welcomed news by me. Any time your game against a legit ace gets rained out, it doesn't hurt.

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 02:23 PM) Let me simplify this post: Juan Pierre is a below average baseball player at this point. I guarantee after this year he will NOT start for whatever team he ends up with. Or at the very least no way he hits leadoff. It's entirely possible the Sox wind up resigning him.

Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 12:18 PM) I'd actually be fine with taking a DT if the value isn't there at OL at pick 29. They need to address the OL in the draft and FA but you also shouldn't reach just because you have a need. Right now, you simply have to assume that FA will not happen. OL must be the Bears pick, at least in the first round, 2-3 OL in the draft would be preferred.

Education bubble?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 09:00 AM) And who is the most likely to default on their loans? (Its a guess, but I bet it is right) Even though it makes sense, I bet the program gets labeled racist in the next 10 years when it starts disproportionally affecting minorities. You don't default on student loans. You might try. You're not going to succeed.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 09:48 AM) Last death toll number from storms in the south that I saw was 173. I can't remember a toll that high since that big OKC F5 a few years back. This one's already up there with the Palm Sunday Outbreak, and could easily surpass it (that one killed 271).

2011 NFL Lockout Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 08:51 AM) Long term care is not health insurance. Here's what was available under the last CBA. The Owners had an offer on the table to allow current players to remain in the league's health care plan for life. It's been suggested repeatedly that because the NFL doesn't provide long term health insurance for their retired players they're opening themselves up to a very large disability claim.

2011 NFL Lockout Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 10:21 PM) The minimum wage guys are making like half a million dollars a year. I am pretty sure they also get health insurance for life now. They aren't hurting. No. And they're virtually uninsurable after leaving the league because they played in the NFL and no self-respecting insurer wants any part of that person. At least until a new CBA is agreed to.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 09:41 PM) We had a ton of golfball sized hail where I live (the Fort). My car is pretty dented up, but thankfully none of my windows broke. Quite a few people in my apartment complex's parking lot did have windows smashed out, though, including my roommate. Same for me and you. Windows still in tact. Glad I kept the comprehensive deductible low.
