  1. QUOTE (rafacosta @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 09:13 PM) and kotsay cant even play defense....great. You sound surprised.
  2. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 09:13 PM) I've always thought that paranoid Reinsdorf and Boyer would have employees on chat rooms trying to spin... :lolhitting
  3. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 09:11 PM) These are my opinions, feel free to disagree, no big deal Tonight they look like they just lost 36 of the last 47. And it will be the inability to put teams like this away that will ultimately cost them the division. Hey, but like you said, whatever. Put teams away? It's one bloody game. My word, this really is somewhat remarkable. You've actually got Fathom thinking you're jumping off the ledge for nothing.
  4. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 09:07 PM) I wasn't worried about playing last place Kansas City and second to last place Washington in 1967 in the last 5 games of the season either. The Sox only had to win 3 of those and go to the series. THEY LOST ALL 5 Don't tell me about not fearing any team. So, 5 games in 1967 illuminates the behavior of the injury-riddled Detroit Tigers in 2010 because...
  5. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 09:04 PM) Well if Detroit is soooooooooooooooo bad, why are we losing? There's no such thing in sports as a zero chance. Because we called up a kid from the minors who really isn't all that good?
  6. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:56 PM) Just like the Sox weren't going to do what they did over the last month and a half, right? If the Sox lost half their lineup and a key part of their bullpen to injury, no, they wouldn't have gone on this kind of run.
  7. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 07:19 PM) i don't respect her service or her outrageous press release and subsequent appearance on 'Hollywood Squares'. shameful actions from a so-called public servant. I don't know how we can ask this any more explicitly. What press release?
  8. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:51 PM) Why are you so certain of this? Have you read something in the news implying the Giants have significant cash to burn? They went hard after Dunn, Fielder, and Corey Hart, but they didn't want to part with Baumgartner for Dunn/Hart or a lot more than that for Fielder. Hart is making $4.8 mil this season and they clearly could have absorbed his contract. I sure got the impression they had room for Dunn. They have plenty of room for revenue growth with seat sales down the stretch if they can take that division, they're right there, and they need 1 more OF bat.
  9. QUOTE (GREEDY @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:48 PM) Anyone think Chris Young would clear? The pitcher or the hitter?
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:49 PM) I wish ARod would just hit this damn home run. I am so sick of this. Don't worry, we all know what ARod does when he starts feeling "pressure".
  11. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:49 PM) Had no plan regarding this second game. Is there anyone their organization that can pitch? Detroit is as close to death imaginable and we run some clown out there. Now watch Detroit win 10 in a row. I was going to go home early to watch the second game. Glad I didn't. And I'm not very excited about Jackson tomorrow either. Peavy really screwed us with his injuries. Best record in baseball for a month and half and only a game ahead of the Twins. Speaks more to how bad we were than how good we might be. This is an impressive rant. Detroit is NOT going to win 10 in a row.
  12. Well, for a guy who belongs in the bullpen at best, 6 IP, 5 ER isn't awful. Awful lot better than Porcello, for example.
  13. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 07:03 PM) Trade Lester for Herm? Hermy has a much higher WAR.
  14. IF the price is $6-$7 million, then the Giants will claim him if he gets that far.
  15. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 06:16 PM) What's the point if Manny won't play there. Why would he not want to?
  16. QUOTE (Sox72 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 06:12 PM) Do you think it's realistic that he ever really will DH him? I doubt it. Ozzie seems to think that he needs to be on the field and not think about his AB's. His OPS on the season in the DH role and while playing RF are virtually identical.
  17. Shaq is likely going to wind up with the Celtics. With Perkins down until around the AS Break, that's at least a warm body to plug in there.
  18. QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 06:08 PM) No one going to claim Manny for fear that they Dodgers will simply say take him and that team will have to eat the money. The current economy is playing a major factor into teams blocking players for fear of being handed big money contracts. If Manny is only due about $6 million for the last couple months and the Dodgers have already put away most of the deferred money, then I could totally see the Giants claiming him. They were trying everything they could to get a bat without having to give up Baumgartner and Sanchez, and that would be exactly what they'd have the chance to do.
  19. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 06:06 PM) maybe, again, wouldn't be shocked by anything Manny does, but I just think it's a huge risk to claim him because the Dodgers will walk away the second the claim is made I think it kinda depends on how his contract is structured how big that risk is. Specifically how the deferred money is dealt with...if some of it has already been escrowed or whether it's still to be paid out.
  20. QUOTE (pcullotta @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 05:50 PM) To all of those saying Hanley Ramirez, what does he do that much better then Alexei? Even with his awful start, Alexei has the higher batting average. Doubles are pretty much a wash at 18 to 17, HR's are close at 14 to 11, and I don't think RBI's are very far off (56 to 43) considering Hanley is batting third every day and Alexei has been hitting eighth. Defensively, it isn't even close at this point. Alexei is one of the best defensive SS's in the game while Hanley is one of the worst. So again, outside of being a much more well known player, why take Hanley over Alexei? By the way, after reading this post, I checked Hanley's stats. Mercy is he having a down year or what? 3 straight years of an OPS over .940 before this one as a 23-25 year old, then this year his OPS is at .807.
  21. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 05:58 PM) track record and age. alexei's older, right? Yes, Alexei's older, Hanley's currently 26, Alexei's listed at 28.
  22. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 05:55 PM) true, but I've stopped trying to figure out what Manny thinks a long time ago, and why wouldn't he be doing it with the Dodgers? Because the fanbase stopped worshipping him the second he was suspended last year?
