  1. With Watson I think you’re exactly right. The same things that made Watson say I’m done will make the org say “no you’re not you’ll play and like it” until he really sits out the full year. With Wilson it seems more amicable. Even if Wilson is driving things, I haven’t seen the anger and defiance coming from the org that I have with Houston.
  2. How will the at bats get shorter? Right now, guys are selling out to pull the ball for power. Teams make there be some penalty for this by over shifting. Players have continued pulling because the power is more valuable and that outweighs the penalty of the overshift. Take away the penalty and people will sell out for power even more! Plus more runners on, so even more reason to swing for the fences!
  3. More hits and fewer outs increases the time of the game.
  4. That’s also exactly why he fit in with this organization.
  5. Tweets about shifts in Vegas odds as a way to interpret rumors. I'm now wondering whether this or the "Food guys" will be a worse experience.
  6. I would say that over the past decade the Cubs have strengthened relative to the other team in the city, rather than having waned a bit.
  7. Honestly, that's not a bad bench. All 3 of the position players could have been 1+ WAR players last year. Not sure there's sufficient depth behind them at the minors, and not sure about either of the backup catcher options, but if someone goes down for a few weeks you don't lose your season if any of them has to fill in. It's not nearly the level of depth the Dodgers or even the Padres are bringing to the table though.
  8. If there's a place where people probably shouldn't throw their anti-whatever hissy fits, its at a ballpark or stadium where security is literally standing right there.
  9. Someone always gets hurt.
  10. And they're never going to send him to the minors for a full season if he's a tolerable reliever.
  11. In 2019, only 15 relievers league wide had more than 75 innings. Hendricks was one of them. With both Hendricks and Bummer on this team, there’s no way that there are that many innings available for a middle reliever.
  12. The big problem in that number is that the J&J line is shut down for the next week or so while they gear up to crank out at a much higher rate (2 week shutdown started early last week just after approval). They shipped out all the shots they had on hand this week, then none are being produced right now. So possible we don’t reach that number by the 15th, but then we blow far past it like a week later.
  13. Well don't forget, this show wasn't supposed to kick off Phase 4. We were supposed to already have had Eternals out by this point, I can't remember if the original TV show schedule had something before this one but I think they did.
  14. Santana got less than that - his contract allowed him to be cut very early in the season at a much lower cost. Spotrac thinks he got $716k. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/kansas-city-royals/ervin-santana-450/cash-earnings/ https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/04/white-sox-designate-ervin-santana-for-assignment.html
  15. This effectively moves Avisail Garcia to a 4th OF/bench role. Their OF is now Cain, Bradley, Yelich - basically it is impossible to get a hit on a fly ball against them. In that weak NL Central...could be a difference maker?
  16. There have been virtually no federal rules established for how this has been distributed, it was all given to the states - probably with a little bit of weighting based on how nice you were to the last administration.
