QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 09:12 AM) really, really curious to know what his chilean backstory is now. I'm also leaning towards Walter's cancer coming back at some point, amybe to give him motivation to go away with a bang. I think the cancer has to come back for sure, as that is the obvious and likely end to the series. And next season is the final one. Completely agreed on wanting to know the Chilean story. They've done an incredible job on that show of expanding much further than just Walter. So many intriguing characters, and they're really giving each one of them their own mini-storyline. I can't wait for Mike's.

I voted for Humber, but only because I love stories like his. Plus the guy has been hit by a line drive in like the last three games he's pitched. He deserves my support.

I don't know how anyone could say it's not Sosa. Valencia actually got a hit. I'll never blame a guy for not just laying down and allowing a perfect game, even if the hit is a little dinker. Sosa got walked on what was a questionable call. And yes, Buehrle got his perfect game eventually, but he could also be the only pitcher in the history of the entire game to have two perfect games if it weren't for that questionable walk. I think he's already the only guy to face the minimum three times, though.

AL teams with similar 33 game starts
Milkman delivers replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 10:06 PM) My point is that anything that happened after 11-22 is moot because 11-22 was only recoverable from if the division winner won 84 or less games, a notion I think is mostly out of our control ( although still something I thought was possible until the Tigs got really hot recently) I'd say three things are indictable during 4-18: 1) The idea of using Juan Pierre as a leadoff hitter in 2010 and 2011 (we got exactly the offensive production we expected of him both years, ultimately, but he cost us some games during that stretch defensively). 2) The idea of using Thornton as a closer that led to so many bullpen problems, specifically going into this season with a left handed setup man who had never closed as a closer. 3) The overall composition of the team, specifically adding a bunch of problematic second-tier players who have glaring holes in their game (Peavy's AL allergy, Rios' baggage, Dunn's propensity for slumptitude). So, you're saying that the people who gave up in the first month of the season were both correct and had good reason to believe that. -
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 09:50 PM) Did you even read my post with Tex or are you talking out of your ass again? I rarely even s*** talk you like alot of posters here as you are very entertaining to read as far as post and have a different view from others obviously, but jesus with this. Seeing greg tell anyone other than a third grader to "think logically" is incredibly insulting. It would be like Ozzie telling someone to speak English better.

QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 04:28 PM) Great point. I wasn't understanding you were meaning organization wide. Oh yes, I definitely meant it throughout the organization.

And that's 2 White Sox Winners
Milkman delivers replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 10:20 PM) Stewart really needed a good start and he came up with a great one. Humber looked good too. Twins are bad but nice to see candidates for the rotation next year step up. Indeed. I actually do like our rotation going into next season if they sign Buehrle and trade Danks or Floyd. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 03:56 PM) Tex, what accountability within the org do you think is happening The lack of accountability is rampant, not just in the sense that Tex is trying to talk down as wanting everyone fired. Players showing no effort regularly getting starts while other guys bust their asses and get benched anyway is the first GLARING example of it.

The man died of AIDS 20 years ago. I'm not sure why making a joke is wrong.

The Return of Adam Dunn, 9/05. 12:05

So, did anyone listen to Rongey after the game last night? I'm interested in knowing how laughable it was. -

QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 12:54 PM) I'm sure we will see Lilli in game 2. It's a double header guys. Oh s***, I forgot about that. Awesome! -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 12:58 PM) They need to bring Rudy Jaramillo in. I'm sure the Cubs would let him walk. All of the Cubs have perfect approaches at the plate. Walker is gone after this season. We'll see how this simple fix works in 2012. Has anyone who is blaming Walker played baseball beyond the freshman level in HS? The biggest reason I now want Walker gone is so I don't have to keep reading your posts about Rudy Jaramillo.

Oh s***, I just saw a scroll on ESPN that Kenny fired the bat boy, but Reinsdorf stepped in and rehired him.

The Return of Adam Dunn, 9/05. 12:05
Milkman delivers replied to LittleHurt05's topic in 2011 Season in Review
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 12:32 PM) Rob Deer at .171 for a qualified season. It is pretty much impossible for him to get that many ABs now. OK, so that's just the modern era record then? Because I swear I saw something about a guy hitting even lower than Dunn, but I'm pretty sure it was a long time ago. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 12:29 PM) I really think both of them will be back. I hope like hell I'm wrong but I don't think I will be. I wouldn't even watch a game on TV if that were to happen. But don't worry, I'd still post regularly here.

The Return of Adam Dunn, 9/05. 12:05
Milkman delivers replied to LittleHurt05's topic in 2011 Season in Review
QUOTE (Paulie4Pres @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 10:36 AM) I think Dunn should play every day from here on out. He has definitely earned that worst batting season of modern day baseball title, and I want to see him get the at bats to qualify for it. I just figured it would be nice to see the Sox bat guys where they project for the future. The season is over, you're right. Which is why now you see what you have for next season. Lillibridge should be playing pretty much every day too. I thought the record low was like .139? I don't think Dunn can possibly drop down that low. -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 10:21 AM) People are really complaining about lineups now? The season is over. Who cares who's batting cleanup? Might as well give Dunn at bats to hopefully give him something to build off of going into next year. The pressure is completely off at this point. Seriously, this. -

Milkman delivers replied to Quin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 11:28 AM) That was then and this is now type thing. That's baseball don't you agree? What?! He completely refuted the point you made, and that was your response? I don't even know what it's supposed to mean. -
QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 11:38 AM) Chicago White Sox baseball - No accountability. I've been preaching the lack of accountability for longer than I can remember. I'm glad that so many people are now also seeing it.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 08:10 AM) That's the one thing you will never understand and you've proven it time and time again. If Ozzie were to bring in Frasor in the 9th instead of Santos in a 1 run game to pitch to Migueal Cabrera and 1st base was open (man on 3rd) you would somehow think it was a good idea if they actually pitched to Cabrera and miraculously got an out. That would be considered a boneheaded managerial decision by anyone with half a brain but you would praise Ozzie if this one time it worked against the odds. More often than not, bringing in a terrible pitcher when you have better options and then to pitch to the opponent's deadliest hitter will likely result in the opponent getting a key hit and beating you. I don't understand why you never seem to get this. To you, correlation equals causation. Frasor got the out so that means Ozzie made a great move. Not even Hawk, Stoney or any other analyst/expert would agree with you. Just reading people's responses to greg makes me angry. I honestly don't understand why you people even bother attempting to engage him in a logical discussion.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 03:54 PM) Ozzie Guillen. I say this not to be flippant or dismiss the post because a change might certainly happen, but my bet is since Ozzie has a contract for 2012 and Jerry ius a loyal owner, who likes both KW and Ozzie. 2012 might be the make or break year. It makes me absolutely sick that anyone can still be of this opinion. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Ozzie Guillen could piss straight in some of your faces, and you'd find a way to cut him some slack for it.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 09:39 AM) Another great Breaking Bad last night. Gus's story is just awesome. I also love that the cartel guy is the old star from Scarface. I knew I recognized that guy. And yes, Gus is one bad motherf***er. I love the way he so casually got Hector's nephews killed and smugly informed him of how it happened.

I'M STILL IN! QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 03:13 AM) It's amazing to me in the face of another September when "our fate was in our hands" and we fail miserably, how many people are willing to give our leadership a pass. You all don't want to win as much as being proud of being non confrontational. Awesome. -
And that, my friends, is a White Sox season

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 11:03 AM) They have no idea what they are asking for. Too much OOTP where a rebuild takes a week. I love how you guys keep saying this as though anyone who wants a rebuild is completely ignorant. I am well aware that it may take years, and I'm fine with that. I'll watch anyway.
