  1. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 9, 2011 -> 03:39 PM) For quite some time I have also considered you an ass, man.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 9, 2011 -> 03:34 PM) My argument is that "if you put me in the place of an NFL player, I would not want my blood taken, and I'd make sure there were a whole helluva lot of stipulations/requirements to how it was used if I had it taken, and I'd make sure I got something useful back in negotiations in exchange for having my blood taken." I understand that point of view, but you also have to understand that simply by taking that stance, you're going to seem like an obvious steroid user. I agree that they have to make the agreement ironclad so that the use of the blood testing doesn't take a big turn against the players (such as the finding of a disease that may cause a player to be cut or not signed again once he hits free agency).
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 9, 2011 -> 03:25 PM) White House to Pakistan: 'No Apologies' for OBL Raid Where's that from? I mean, I've never heard of the site and it was written pretty poorly. On the topic, that's the exact type of response I want from the US. I understand the need of the Pakistani government to take a stand here, but we shouldn't waver. It needed to be done the way it happened and everyone knows it.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 9, 2011 -> 03:05 PM) There's more of a privacy thing though...I wouldn't want my insurance company having a sample of my blood, for example, because they'd be judging me based on the chances of getting a disease through no fault of my own. An NFL team with access, even partial access to a blood sample could do a ton of advanced work these days, and more within a few years. So, what exactly is your argument? I'm not sure I understand what you're getting at here. I imagine that these tests would be conducted by an outside agency that is only looking for banned substances and only reporting back to the league/teams that the player is either clean or that he tested positive for a specific substance.
  5. That's awesome news. I have always found it hilarious that any union would oppose blood tests. It's basically just admitting that the players use HGH or some form of banned substance that can't be detected by urine tests.
  6. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 9, 2011 -> 12:49 PM) I thought it was 2 bullets in 1 eye? It's like we're the White House trying to get our story straight Two bullets in one eye? That's more than impressive.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 9, 2011 -> 12:28 PM) True, but the Sox have only been swept once, not 3 straight times. I was also referring to the storming back in the 2nd half and the winning the division title as what Minnesota does, not the Sox. I got what you were going for, and it was perfect. If someone mentioned a team roaring back in the second half to win their division and then getting swept out of the playoffs, without mentioning a team name, I would have to think the Twins would be the first team on everyone's mind.
  8. QUOTE (T R U @ May 9, 2011 -> 12:26 PM) They don't count, until either one of them clinch a spot in the playoffs they are going to finish 4th and 5th in this division.. that's the only possible way I will believe it to happen.. I like how you laugh at everyone else who doesn't think this team is dead, yet you honestly believe this is going to be the worst team in baseball? Especially after last year? Get the hell out of here.. Were 4 games behind our main competition, that's nothing to be quitting on the season about.. No, I don't think we'll finish as the absolute worst team in baseball, but we're far from contenders at this point. f*** dude, even the biggest homers on this site are basically calling the season over. And why do people keep bringing up last year? I could understand if they mentioned the 2005 Astros or the Rockies teams of the last few seasons, but quit bringing up the 2010 White Sox because they failed despite playing out of their minds. They'd have to play even more out of their minds this season because their deficit is larger (despite your great argument that the Royals and Indians don't count) while having to surpass every other team in the division on the way.
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 9, 2011 -> 12:22 PM) Think you have the Sox confused with Minnesota Haha, so true
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 9, 2011 -> 12:18 PM) We will need photographic evidence. Hell, you're Facebook friends with me. I'm pretty sure I have at least one picture with each of them.
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 9, 2011 -> 12:15 PM) If we're lucky we might be able to roar back and claim the division with 87 wins and get swept in the 1st round. I'm already confident that we won't win this division. We'll probably be lucky to finish at .500, so now I'm actually going to hope that the Indians or Royals win the division.
  12. Completely off any kind of topic (I guess that's what the Catch All is for), but I find it weird that the last 4 girls I've dated have better tits than asses, and I've long considered myself an ass man.
  13. QUOTE (T R U @ May 9, 2011 -> 12:09 PM) uh no they don't.. .5 game behind Minnesota 4 games behind Detroit I don't care what KC and Cleveland are doing, neither is going to be there at the end of the season.. Haha, OK. I forgot they didn't count. So the Sox should easily be able to pass four teams with a deficit of 10 games while being the worst team in baseball more than a month into the season. Thanks for clearing that up.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 9, 2011 -> 11:46 AM) Wasn't that happening to everyone about this time last year as well? This is getting tiresome. And your response will likely concern how tiresome it is to see constant posts about a fire sale or something along those lines. The fact of the matter is that they failed last year, even after going on a ridiculous run. You continue to make remarks like this, as though last year ended with them coming from a massive deficit to win the division. They came back from a massive deficit only to fail anyway. And this team has an even bigger deficit to overcome.
  15. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 9, 2011 -> 11:47 AM) To be more specific, he had stated goals of converting the West to Islam, stopping the West from being influenced by "the Jews", stopping the US from getting involved both militarily and politically in the Middle East, and to stop US citizens from practicing the acts of fornication, homosexuality, gambling, drinking, and trading. Muslims have it worse than ever here in the US. I don't see a full-on conversion anytime soon, but that's me. Israel remains an ally that no politician dare denounce. We are now in 2 wars in the Middle East while trying to enforce our political ideologies. Fornication, homosexuality, gambling, drinking, and trading are all at an all-time high. He has a bullet in between his eyes to show for all of this. Not only did he not "win", I'm not sure anyone has ever failed harder. To be precise, I think he has a bullet in one of his eyes.
  16. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ May 7, 2011 -> 06:15 PM) \ This management has no clue how to build an elite ballclub. As it could happen once a century, they got lucky with some marginal and a few slightly above average players who peeked in 2005. Nothing leading up to 2005 or nothing which has occurred since would demonstrate the sox were nothing more than one-hit wonder. Guillen's managerial star actually started to fade with the near epic implosion of team in the second half of the 2005. Guillen stayed out of the way for the most of playoffs. Completely agreed.
  17. I think we can all agree that Juan Pierre is a member of one of the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.
  18. QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ May 7, 2011 -> 11:18 AM) ... and we should have done it Would you rather: 1.) Be in last place in all of baseball but already have one year of rebuilding in the books 2.) Be in last place in all of baseball and have to start rebuilding right now I'm taking #1 every single time. People will mention that last year's team came back, but they always omit that they still lost. And of course someone will bring up hindsight being 20/20 even though many, many of us have been calling for a rebuild for years.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2011 -> 07:54 AM) If you noticed, Thornton was down in the zone in the 9th inning with a lot of his pitches. He was clearly gassed, as he was able to stay up in the zone with a few more mph in the 8th inning. It's comical that he was left in that long. Oh, and Ozzie, why not use Crain instead of Santos then? C'mon, it's painfully obvious to anyone following that Ozzie is trying to get fired now. A lot of talk about his willingness to resign when it stops being fun, but eventually just taking the p**** way out when it becomes too hard and the players have clearly lost faith in him. Would you expect anything better out of Ozzie Guillen?
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 7, 2011 -> 12:18 AM) The state of this franchise right now is frightening. A terribly bloated salary wise major league roster with flat-out bad, underachieving or past their prime guys. A deplorable minor league system that hasn't produced a f***ing thing in 10 years. Bad management, bad coaches, bad scouting, bad player development, etc (That was for you, Milk). Weren't the Blackhawks rated the worst pro sports organization a few years back? I think we're in the top 5 right now.
  21. Or dead, which would be a bad reason to hate them.
  22. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ May 6, 2011 -> 06:08 PM) If an actual GM is using win-loss record in trade discussions I think that GM would get laughed at by every big league team. We're talking about basically two attorneys going after one another. They're going to use every single little aspect to try to get more or give up less.
  23. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 6, 2011 -> 03:19 PM) Sure they might try but I'd bet Kenny would call them out on that bulls*** argument and at the end of the day the other team's GM would relent. Sqwert's point about being a 6 inning pitcher is much more relevant though. That fact will definitely bring his value down. Apparently you have more faith in KW than I do at this point. It seems like he gets less and less out of trades.
