I wonder how many people still watch all of the games. I'm considered one of the biggest pessimists on this site, but I still watch every single game. It seems that a lot of people can't say that.

QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 10:48 AM) Just because you support the team doesn't mean you are required to pay for an inferior product. That should go doubly so for an educated fan like Milkman. Thank you. I've pumped a lot of money into this team over the years. I'm tired of the crap I get for my money. With this season, I know the attendance needs to play a huge part for the roster. If they're going to suck, I'm not going to help pay for them. And if I (and others) hold back our money, there will be wholesale changes. That's what I want to see. If they get the money they need, they're going to remain the same underachieving team with the same coaching staff and the same overpaid players. I'm tired of that. I still go to games when someone else has a spare ticket (which is actually more often than you'd think) because I honestly can't stop watching, but I surely can hold back as much of my money as possible.

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 05:24 AM) He won't be fired this year or even 2012 no matter what our record is. I think JR still regrets the letting go of LaRussa and holds Ozzie in high regard just as he does with LaRussa. The bottom line, however, is it appears Ozzie can't get his guys to play hard everyday for him and his decision making is suspect at best. I'd really like to see Walker fired NOW and get another guy who can work with Rios and Beckham as if those guys aren't hitting we don't stand a chance and it's quite obvious now Walk isn't delivering the goods on either of those key players for us. I haven't bought one ticket this year, and I won't so long as they play anywhere near this level. If they bring Ozzie back in 2012 if they don't make the playoffs this year or even if they do hobble in and get raped in the ALDS, I won't attend a single game in 2012.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 08:54 AM) Some of you guys are starting to sound like Cub fans with your blind optimism. I have seen nothing that leads me to believe this team will be a contender this year. It seems that the only ray of hope, and this includes me, is that the division is so bad that we may still end up winning it. Yay, we suck less than the rest of the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 05:20 AM) Yeah but at what point do you realize that we're digging a hole for ourselves that is damn near impossible to get out of? Every game counts and all of these bad losses will haunt us come September. Some people will never understand this. The quicksand has to be up to their eyes before they admit they're sinking.

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 05:29 AM) I appreciate the Sox Talk header but I think this one is jinxed. We need to put our collective heads together and decide what we need to do in order to get Becks and Rios going again. Perhaps a header with the both of them in the fold? EDIT: I am talking about the header graphic for the website with Adam Dunn. I have a few web designers who can put together a few options if anyone thinks this can turn the season around for us ala Rally Crede. Because it's working so well with Adam Dunn?

Your FIRST PLACE Chicago White Sox

Seeing this topic made me think the Tigers, Royals, and Indians all got into a place crash. -
QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 04:07 PM) I don't see any bad news there. Walker admitted there might be a problem. Our worst guy out of the pen goes down. and a .158 hitter might have to sit for a little bit. LOL exactly.

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 05:58 PM) lol same here,2 yrs ago. it was when the angels had batting practice. i had the second row , right next to the bullpen. im walking to my seat and i hear something fall right next to me in the 3rd row. i look and it was a ball someone shagging balls for the angels threw. i know it wasnt used in a game but i think its really cool because the angels had just finished playing the twins in minnesota. i guess they brought the balls they used over there because it had a commerative logo of the metrodome(with the yrs of when it first opened and the final year) since it was the last yr. i hated the dome like everyone here does so its a nice reminder that they lost such a great home field advantage That sounds like it might be a cool gesture by the Angels. Or maybe it's just a normal thing.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 05:36 PM) One of my roommates got an OWI last night, and managed to tweet about it before going to jail. What's that?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 11:24 AM) This. I was hoping I wasn't the only one. And I've been to a ton of games in my life. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 11:34 AM) Jose Valentin hit a ball literally into my seat once when I went a concession stand. My friend just leaned over and picked it up. Foul or homer?

QUOTE (Tuna @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 12:02 PM) I'll do that, thanks. No problem. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 12:04 PM) Yeah and if you get shotdown, so what. Its not like it hurts your life or something. And if it does, you have bigger problems than Soxtalk

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 12:03 PM) Gervais's character and Michael Scott are pretty different bosses. Michael actually had an endearing quality to him. The differences between the characters has little to do with it. The Michael Scott character is just more and more cartoonish with every passing episode. I've actually stopped watching some episodes because of him. At a certain point, it stops being funny and just becomes stupid and annoying.

QUOTE (SnB @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 12:00 PM) this. The first season was all about Leslie Knope and even she didn't hit her stride until the 2nd season. Ron and Tom make that show what it is - pure one line gold. I've never watched that show, but it did not surprise me at all to see that Tom is the character played by Aziz Ansari.

QUOTE (Tuna @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 11:58 AM) I lurk...been lurking for the better part of 5 years. The reason is because I'm not as well versed as most of the regular posters as far as stats go. It can be a little intimidating sometimes, I know what I see and sometimes think about throwing my opinion out there but I don't want to be shot down by some stat I don't understand. I thoroughly enjoy everyone's comments and the sense of humor from a lot of the posters are just down right hilarious. With all that being said, my guess is the first day of the winter meetings. Also, for the sake of argument, my reasoning above is due to my own insecurities, I'm not accusing anyone of anything. We all get shot down from time to time. Even me, and basically the entire board is in agreement that I'm the best poster here. Might as well state your piece once in a while. You actually get to know some of the posters as if you interacted with them regularly in real life.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 11:41 AM) I dont know if he's been an annoyance, Michael Scott is pretty integral to the show and he's been hilarious throughout the years. I was watching a few episodes yesterday from the first few seasons and its almost hard to remember what it was like without Andy Bernard. They've really added some good characters to the cast over the last few years to take the focus off of Michael a bit moving forward. I think Darrell should be the first crack at manager to be honest. He's really come into his own as an actor on that series since the beginning. I never watch The Office when it's new, but I see it in syndication all of the time. Michael Scott gets less funny and more annoying in every single episode. I honestly see why Ricky Gervais stopped making his series after two seasons (and all of his shows) because sometimes it just gets stupid. Steve Carell as Michael Scott is the very definition of jumping the shark. Usually you say that about a specific episode or even a show, but that very character so perfectly embodies the idea that I honestly have grown to dislike Steve Carell when I originally liked the guy.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 11:03 AM) Or so the government would have you believe... No but seriously I saw that one too. It was very compelling, and interesting when they did the tests on the model ship. The best demonstration I've seen of the effect was actually on Jay Leno like 10 years ago. Some guy had an aquarium filled with water and a small nozzle at the bottom that released the gas. I know it showed the planes bursting into flames. I can't recall if the boats did the same, or if they just lost buoyancy and sank immediately.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 10:27 AM) I can see Cowley's next article... Maybe I like kids... No no, it has to be separate sentences. So, something like: "Maybe the Sox will turn it around. In my opinion..."

QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 10:59 PM) Pena is so bad that if we had kept Brandon Allen and made him a pitcher, he would be better than Pena. This was very funny. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 01:23 AM) But that wasn't the intention going into the year. The emergence of Sergio Santos relegated Pena to that duty. What I honestly don't understand is why they didn't convert him to a starter. I get that he's been absolutely terrible thus far and his overall numbers as a starter were worse than as a reliever, but it seemed to me that he performed relatively well in those spot starts he made - I seem to recall one against KC last year where he had 6 perfect innings and hung up a 5 spot or something in the other. Either way, he really doesn't deserve another chance. You DFA him and hope that someone bites. This really needs to happen. Not only does he wholly deserve to be designated for assignment, but he's also the type of guy that plagues the Sox (lots of talent with minimal results). He's perfect to cut loose not only to improve your team by simply subtracting him, but it also sends a message.

I was a believer in Jackson. I truly thought he was going to do very well for us. Back in 2006, I was also a fan of Javier Vazquez. It turns out that Javier Vazquez is just Spanish for Edwin Jackson.

QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 08:27 AM) Whoever was 1B for Seattle tossed a PK groundout that ended the inning to my lil bro in '05. Nice to have a momento from what turned out to be a solid year. I never understood why people act like frenzied animals whenever a baseball falls anywhere near them. It's kind of amusing and sad at the same time. If I can make a play on it without diving, pushing, elbowing, crawling, then cool- and I'll probably just flip it to some kid nearby anyway. Richie Sexson?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 03:03 PM) Had to throw in the extra FYI! 2009. NOVA had a good special on possible causes of the crash. Thank you. I know this isn't the thread for it, but I like the theory of methane gas being released from undersea faults and causing fires/explosions on ships and planes to explain the disappearances in the Bermuda Triangle. I remember seeing a special on it and one scientist proposed that theory. It seemed the most believable.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 03:19 PM) Define "very". After sky-high taxes, agent fees, and a massive health insurance plan after leaving the league, that money would last a couple years of a modest lifestyle. But are the guys that aren't even making the team really getting beat up so badly in their few years there? I seriously don't know the answer to this. It isn't sarcasm. I would just think that the vast majority of these lingering injuries, and the issues associated with them, come during the actual games. -
Joe Garagiola, Jr. That's a name that White Sox fans have to be more familiar with than any other organization's fans (besides the Diamondbacks).

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 12:33 PM) Just wait until he's older...he'll know to appreciate the game and won't get as mad The angriest I've ever been watching the Sox was when Jenks blew a save against the Indians in 2005 after Aaron Boone singled up the middle against him in the 8th. Haha, nicely played. The angriest I've ever been was when Jenks blew the save in the World Series. I kicked a pretty heavy coffee table across the room. It very easily could have broken my foot, so I was lucky. I was in college at the time and nobody else was a Sox fan. The room was awkwardly quiet until Pods won it
