QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 29, 2010 -> 12:06 PM) Yeah I love the scenes he's in. And who knows, maybe he gets in trouble for the drowning later on. I can't imagine that will go over too well. And is Margaret officially on the hit list or do you think Nucky will try to make amends? He's got to get in trouble for it, as there were about 40 witnesses. I just don't know how they're going to handle it in the plot because he's a main character. Margaret is also a main character, so I'm sure Nucky will just try to make amends. He seemed pretty upset when Eli suggested getting rid of her. I'm also really digging the Harrow character (the one with the mask). When he said he could kill the D'Alessio's family members to get them out of hiding...just damn, that's cold.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 29, 2010 -> 10:26 AM) Boardwalk Empire was soooo good last night. How in the hell does Van Alden get away with that? I just don't get anything that the character does, but he's easily the most intriguing person on that show. Can't wait to see Eli's reaction to being dropped by Nucky.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 27, 2010 -> 01:50 PM) And they had Damaso Marte And they tried to land Don Cooper. Maybe the rest of the league (at least the Yankees) is buying into that old adage.

Boras company tied to lending money to prospects
Milkman delivers replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Diamond Club
I'm not as angry about this as Tex seems to be, but I really don't see a big problem with this. It might have its disadvantages, but I'm thinking overall that it is probably a good thing for the players. In regards to that specific story about Salcedo, it says he was tendered a $1.6 million contract. If you owe somebody money and you come into $1.6 million, people are going to come back expecting to be repaid and Salcedo would be a huge jagoff to not honor his debt. I doubt Boras is hounding the guy who borrowed $5,000 and never received a contract from anyone. -
I think we're overlooking the obvious choice here: Todd Helton. He's old and past his prime while making too much money and playing a position we need to fill!

Sox claim P Waldis Joaquin off of waivers from SF

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 28, 2010 -> 09:58 PM) It'd probably be set in Communist Russia. The plot would revolve around how everyone is controlled by the government and they decide where these people work and what they do, but in the end, it turns out that the people themselves are the government and they choose where they end up. Oh, and the country is run by a zombie Stalin, and Waldis comes in at the end of the movie and kills him with a spear. I was thinking he should use a poorly-fashioned cane. -
Just listen to the live version of In The City by the Eagles, that song rocks.

Why? You already know why.

Marlins closing in on Vazquez?
Milkman delivers replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Diamond Club
It makes sense for him, a team that won't compete in front of no crowds and he's close to home. I wish him nothing but the worst. Funny to see the teams interested in him, though. -
White Sox offer arbitration to Konerko, Putz.

Wow, I just read 8 pages of an absolute garbage pissing match. There was no actual information outside of the first post. Some people came off as real jagoffs, too. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 03:55 PM) Sorry MD, I thought most knew about this already... http://network.nationalpost.com/NP/blogs/p...-blue-jays.aspx I can't recall that at all, which seems weird. The only part I agree with is not standing for their anthem if they're going to boo ours.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 03:17 PM) Hopefully it was a Toronto sportswriter as a payback for Cowley's stupid crap. Expound?

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 23, 2010 -> 01:59 AM) Christina Aguilera looks awful. She looks like if I touched her, she'd be sticky.

Pretty easy to catch up in this thread no matter how many days you've been away from Soxtalk.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 22, 2010 -> 11:40 AM) Nelson is so freaking creepy in that show. It was entertaining to see him delve into the dark side though. With the way Nucky treats his assistant, I assume something big might happen with that later in the season. There has to be a reason why they go out of their way to show how badly he treats him. He's very creepy, yes. I guess it helps that Michael Shannon is a scary-looking dude in the first place. You make a good point about the possibility of something big happening in regards to the assistant. I've noticed how badly he treats him, but that thought never crossed my mind. He constantly berates him and belittles him in front of others, not to mention the fact that he seems to cockblock him regularly. I don't see him betraying Nucky, though. He seems like a very faithful guy.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 22, 2010 -> 10:59 AM) I would have given it a higher grade if it weren't for the hokey dialogue from the "gang" they encountered. None of it was believable and sort of annoyed me. Agreed, and it seemed like they really went overboard with the Hispanic gangbanger accents. Other than that, it was a great episode. I didn't realize the season was so short, though. I really like that show. What was with agent Nelson boozing/whoring it up? I mean, why? The part where Chalky just straight choked the guy to death was intense. Also, I'm beginning to dislike Nucky more and more. How do you treat your driver/assistant so badly when the guy just saved your life? Dexter was great. I especially liked the scene where he roughed up the abusive step-dad. It was cool to see his "dad" finally tell him that he's proud of him, and then having Dexter pass that right along to Astor.

So, is Chase the last guy in the rape group or are there others?

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 03:41 PM) I'm not a fan of moving Quentin. I really think he should just become our DH. He obviously can't field and his potential is so high that if he puts it together we could really come out looking bad if a deal were made. That's a terrible reason to hold onto somebody. If they don't think he's going to work out for us, they shouldn't keep him because he may have a good year and people will point at us and laugh.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 11:29 AM) I adore Eternal Sunshine... such a brilliant movie. It may have been a little saccharine to some people, but that's exactly the type of movie you want once in a while.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 11:14 AM) I would argue the opposite. Ozzie played him perfectly. He rode him while he was hot, benched him when he was cold, and used him around the OF to give guys days off when they needed them. Jones didn't cool when he hit the bench, he hit the bench when he cooled off. Teams figured him out, and Andruw didn't adjust. I am one of the biggest Ozzie haters around, but even I can agree that he used Jones perfectly.

Yeah, the first one.

In the last three days, I've watched three Netflix movies. To make it shorter, I'll just start saying the ratings I give movies on Netflix (out of 5 stars). Wall Street: 5/5 Lost In Translation: 4/5 Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind: 5/5

QUOTE (3E8 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 12:04 PM) I know what you mean. I used to be like you, did not like beer at all, only ordered Bud Light or whatever at the bar. When I moved, the friends I made happened to be beer snobs. You just need to taste a beer that actually has flavor, and you might be converted. I have tried various beers. It's just something about the basic properties of beer that doesn't agree with my taste buds. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 10:52 AM) Define beer snob though. I mean if I'm at a bar/club i'll drink regular stuff. Or if i'm buying bulk i'll go cheap (real cheap). But if i'm having a beer with dinner or a six pack on a sunday just to chill I'm gonna buy something that actually tastes good. In that case, you probably wouldn't be a beer snob by my standards.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 11:59 AM) Well, when you say "they can hand him over to the ATF" that's not exactly accurate. The Sons are going to want Jimmy O dead to come through on the agreement to get all of his gun running business on the West Coast. That's huge. We're headed for Jax vs the Sons here to keep Gemma out of prison. They needed to kill the Tara storyline there, not extend it. Ugh. Here's how the season will end. - Jax will save Tara, they are happy and have baby on the way. - Gemma will abduct ATF agent and somehow get her to confess to framing Gemma. - Clay will kill Jimmy O, and we'll be set up for season 4 back in Charming with the Sons rehabbing their image with a newfound influx of cash due to all the new business from Jimmy O. Puke. The rest I'm sure will happen and be fine with, although I like Jimmy O's character.
