  1. Maybe nobody noticed that they skipped Y and Z at the top of this page?
  2. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 12:25 AM) Lightfoot didn't really pull off heavy other than that song. If You Could Read My Mind and Sundown were most definitely kitschy. Really? I think Sundown is a badass song. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 08:05 AM) Of course y'all won't say anything like that as you're downing the Miller Lites at USCF. I won't even drink Miller Lite at Sox games. If I'm on the concourse, I'll go to the Beers of the World stand. If not, MGD is a serviceable replacement.
  3. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 04:36 PM) Go for it. I like the idea, however, of separating out the "what if" threads vs. the news-worthy threads. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I hate opening up a thread only to see: Well, I think this team is looking for some pitching, so we can send them ____ for ____ and stick him in RF. Then, we would free up money to make a play for a big name at 1B. Sign ____ off of the screap heap for middle relief, etc. I just don't care to see so many hypotheticals that have no basis in actual news.
  4. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 04:39 PM) Recent enough that Gordon Lightfoot (then others following like Simon Barr Sinister) wrote and performed a famous folk song about it. I have it on my iTunes. I have it, too. I just figured the event happened in the earlier half of the 20th century, which still would've allowed Gordon Lightfoot to write a song about it.
  5. I think we need to separate the threads with actual, relevant news and rumors from those "what do you think/here's what I think we should do" threads. I find the latter to be incredibly useless and annoying.
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 04:15 PM) fjfjff That's the spirit!
  7. Just a couple more posts and this thread will look even more legitimate.
  8. I think I'll be sitting this one out. In a given year, I may drink up to 3 beers.
  9. Kill some gulls, perhaps? QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 01:39 PM) Vasily Ryabikov had a very different opinion. Can't find this guy on Wikipedia at all. Who is he?
  10. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 02:37 PM) Great episode although the Alvarez storyline is pretty lame thus far but who knows the Ireland stuff has gotten pretty good. I actually think the Alvarez storyline has been one of the few consistently good aspects of the show this year. I also like the dynamic between Tig and the transfer guy, with Piney kind of thrown in for even more comic relief.
  11. QUOTE (The Critic @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 12:47 PM) Nobody grounds out to 2nd like Mark Kotsay. Nobody. Scott Podsednik? Juan Pierre?
  12. It looks like it belongs on a 90's cartoon supervillain.
  13. May interest people to know that David Attenborough is the younger brother of actor/director Richard Attenborough.
  14. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 11:10 AM) Sometimes they just have a bad year. I don't foresee him coming back to the Sox, but if he did I have seen worse choices That's not saying much.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 11:02 AM) I think this is a good signing. Kotsay provides a decent bat off the bench and can fill in at 1B and the corner OF positions. I couldn't agree more. At the bargain price of only $1.5 million, who could pass on an incredible defender at 1B and any OF position? Throw in the fact that he's the most clutch hitter of his era, and you have a no-brainer.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 10:59 AM) You misunderstood me. I agree that it should be deleted. I was referring to April 1st as April Fools Day, not the start of the season. Ah, I see that...now. I apologize.
  17. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 01:00 AM) Can we sticky this? That'd be sweet. It's like April Fools 5 months early! You know what? I actually like this idea now that I'm sure the story isn't true. Let keep this going and at least make the thread orange or whatever color it changes to when it reaches a certain length.
  18. Zapp Brannigan could tell you that it's Samuel.
  19. X is not actually the middle initial of executive producer of Futurama, David X. Cohen.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 01:43 AM) I've always wanted to fight zombies, seems like fun. As I said, it all depends on the type of zombie. I want nothing to do with hyper-energetic, semi-intelligent zombies.
