QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 10:52 AM) Hawk alone makes it unbearable for non-White Sox fans. The second post in this thread completely nails it. Hawk isn't a very good announcer (he even bothers many Sox fans) and he's unabashedly biased. I would hate him more than I do now if it weren't for the fact that we share the same bias.

YOUR FIRST PLACE CHICAGO WHITE SOX!!!

QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 09:52 AM) Some of you have been around longer than I, but I can't ever recall a Sox season where they turned it around so quickly--and to do it, get into first, on the eve of the ASB is just poetic. Just last month I was complaining here that we never seem to ever put any STREAKS together, the past few years. Done, and done. If we can get through the Twins/California road trip with a winning record, I think people should be scared of us. I totally agree with that. -
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 12:39 PM) Generally agree with that, posted similar thoughts back when it came out. We saw it in IMAX 3D, so visually it was a top-notch movie. Mediocre otherwise, but not bad. I never saw it, but the people I know who did have said that it was almost pointless to be in 3D. They said there were very few scenes that utilized it.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 08:20 PM) Couldn't be more proud of a team at the ASB. At the very least the guys have made this season an interesting one. Hats off to the pitchers and TCQ rebeasting himself. Exactly how I've been looking at it for about the last two weeks. -
QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 09:36 PM) I give up. Dog Poop? Boulders? Quicksand? Land Mines?

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 09:30 PM) What ? No one thinks Teahen will be the left handed bat we need ? The way the team is playing now and with Teahen's eventual return KW should look to include him in a deal. But if not, with Lillibridge being 5-5 as a pinch hitter that really does reduce Kotsay's role a lot more. The problem is everyone's playing well right now, Kotsay included, and it's a beautiful problem . Or as Doug Heffernan would say, a classy problem.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 09:03 PM) lol Mark Kotsay can play the OF which Mark Teahen cannot, regardless of what you may have read. He's also a vet who can keep his swing coming off the bench after not playing. The Kotsay talk is just dumb as hell. He'll be a very nice bench player for us as soon as we get a capable starter to push Kotsay back into what should have been his role all along. Teahen OTOH needs to stay the f*** off this bullclub. Teahen and Linebrink need to go in a 2-for-1 s*** contract swap so we can open a roster spot, and ideally we'd save some cash in the process. If we can't do that then it's time to take him out back and put him down Old Yeller style. I can hardly see any team taking either one of those players. It would take a miracle for one team to take both.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 08:22 PM) He game up 13 runs in 5 IP. They said on ESPN that he was only the second guy since the expansion that has ever done that. Scioscia made him bite the bullet for the bullpen And the A's made him bite the pillow. BAM!

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 08:11 PM) By too much, I mean continuous inhalation, because it stays in your lungs for long periods of time and can reduce your oxygen levels. I'm pretty sure too much helium would kill you, too. But yeah, I'd definitely be careful with it. And if I were to ever get my hands on it, I probably wouldn't have enough to kill anyone because it's so expensive.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 07:59 PM) How horrible does the Teahan signing look now? I mean, it looked bad at the time but with Vizquel and Brown Bear giving the Sox a nice little offense/defense platoon at 3B there is no room for him on the roster. Like others have said, just man up and cut Kotsay. Sox don't need a backup first baseman that is barely hitting his weight. I hope a nickname for Viciedo sticks some time soon because all of these attempts are just getting annoying.

I really want to get my hands on some sulfur hexafluoride.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 04:59 PM) I honestly wish they would have picked Youk for selfish reasons. I'd rather have Paulie get the rest and I don't want him giving our juju to anyone else while he is there. I agree. The rest is better, but then again, I'm sure he'll relax enough out there. He might take a swing or two and just enjoy the scenery the rest of the time.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 05:45 PM) Sox starters over last 8 games..... 49 1/3 IP, 36 H, 10 ER, 12 BB, 29 K, 1.82 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, 2.42 K/BB Sox are 8-0 over that stretch. Ha, not too bad. -
I'm going to chalk that first game up to nerves and possibly his rhythm being thrown off. He definitely picked the right day to pitch poorly.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) Eight in a row. 11 games above .500 highest all year, a grand slam, Andruw's 400th, Tanks 2nd, Gordons 1st 3 hit game of the season , Hudsons 1st start of the season, a sweep of the whole home stand, a Linebrink scoreless inning and 1st place all at the end of the 1st half. WOW !!! Did I miss anything ? We've certainly gone into the break almost perfectly. This should be an enjoyable, relaxing few days for the players. And it's so huge to take first place at the "halfway point" of the season. -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 10:10 AM) I think he means drawers as another word for pants/trousers? Ha, well that makes sense. I still can't recall hearing him ever say that.
-
QUOTE (PlunketChris @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 07:25 PM) After Gordon's home run just now: "you could have hung all the drawers in cook county on that line drive." That's a gem right there. I still don't get this one. Hanging drawers?

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 03:45 AM) No you don't. Ha, sweet.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 03:11 AM) Sooooo boring, there isn't a single scene from that movie that is stuck in my head, completely forgettable. And Ewan McGregor needs to stop doing American accents because they're epically horrible and it's funny because he was doing an American accent while playing a character who in real life is f***ing British an accent that he can actually pull off as a Scotsman. Shut up.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 10, 2010 -> 03:59 PM) On that note, I watched Men Who Stare at Goats the other night. Outside of the part where they crash into the stone in the desert, I thought it was incredibly stupid. I really liked The Men Who Stare at Goats.

OK, I'll start this post off by saying that I am drunk (Tex ) and that I was indeed joking around, but also that I was sort of doing it to be a douche. Like qwerty said, nobody has anything bad to say about Flaxx, he's a great poster. I'll take this opportunity to thank qwerty and Felix because they're awesome. I also understand knight's post because, as I admitted, I said it to be a jerk. I probably deserve to get a suspension of some kind, so I won't dispute it if I get one.

QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 02:07 PM) my feeling too, players give up money to get NTC often, so it's their choice, it happens to a lot of teams, his name is completely slipping my mind right now, but left handed bat who began with Cleveland and had a good career with San Diego and his brother played in the majors, he turned down a deal to the Red Sox a few years ago, I believe their 2nd title, it happens Brian Giles?

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 02:13 PM) Well, Ozzie was voted one of the top two managers you'd least like to play for. Who was first?
