  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 03:07 PM) This team is officially for real in my eyes. Agreed, but please take the series against the Royals. It would be a huge boost to the confidence of the team and fans if they could go into the break in first place.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 8, 2010 -> 03:01 PM) First sweep of the angels since the 80's did I hear that right? I know this has already been answered, but I knew it wasn't exactly right. There was a series in 2000 against the Angels where the Sox came back in three straight games, and they were all pretty significant comebacks, too. One of the best series I've ever seen, from what I remember.
  3. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 7, 2010 -> 06:27 AM) Went to bed with it 1-1 and was expecting a loss this morning. Very pleasantly surprised. Same here.
  4. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:22 PM) Not saying that I did freak out, because I didn't but I can understand why people would. It looked really bad and this is a pitcher with poor mechanics (inverted W) and 2 elbow strains in his history as well as fluid in his shoulder which has caused him to skip side sessions. Hard not to think the worst. Don't you mean a regular M?
  5. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:16 PM) I think Peavy is out until after the Minnesota series, maybe misses 1-2 starts. It would be a good idea to give him a couple of starts off to rest.
  6. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:11 PM) hooray I was right and everyone here jumped off a cliff as usual. Strained Aw, have a cookie. And phew...but I'll be more at ease after he gets a break with the ASG and throws a nice effort in his next game.
  7. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:05 PM) He doesn't know anything more than he couldn't go tonight - and that's as much as we know. He has inflammation in the shoulder which is pretty painful. You have no way of knowing this. I understand you're trying to look on the bright side, but Peavy easily could have known immediately that he tore a ligament or tendon.
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 10:02 PM) I love the idea of Peavy, and I actually love him, but we can replace his 4.70 era. This team has potential. Well, that's not really looking at the big picture. That ERA is coming down, and it coincides with the entire pitching staff heating up.
  9. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 09:59 PM) Relax, guys. No need to grab a gun. Just wait for a report. We know he has bursitis in the shoulder, but we also know that the earlier MRI showed only that. He likely just worsened that condition and maybe something more. He'll probably 15 day DL + AS Break. Hudson is a helluva replacement. Sox won't miss a beat. I don't share your optimism obviously. We all know Jake Peavy is a competitor. I can't see him just going right out of the game unless he knew something was very wrong.
  10. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 09:54 PM) It'd be depresing, but honestly, I think we can survive if we acquire a big bat. I don't know about that, especially with the very real possibility of the Twins acquiring Lee. I'd say we need another hitter and a good reliever, but then we'd only be able to make it by the skin of our teeth.
  11. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 09:53 PM) Especially with Clayton Richard pitching so well. I don't think that has any bearing it. The situation feels like a kick in the balls.
  12. Allow me to pose this very pessimistic question (I know, surprising): How deflating would it be to lose Peavy for the season after doing so much in the last three weeks to climb right into the thick of things? That's just depressing to even think about.
  13. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 03:35 PM) Yes, 2 a week. Heard Louis say that in an interview last week. My Directv guide says only the first one is new this week.
  14. QUOTE (Felix @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) Insomnia was awesome, although admittedly I'm a sucker for both Al Pacino and Robin Williams. Robin Williams is a great actor overall, but he especially plays an incredible psycho. He was the creepiest thing ever in One Hour Photo.
  15. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 6, 2010 -> 09:28 AM) Ingloriuous Bastards proved that QT still sucks at making movies (Resevoir Dogs being his last good one). Decent idea, style was all over the place, pacing was all over the place, crappy ending, and 30 minutes longer than it needed to be. Just bad. Ha.
  16. I don't even know how much parking costs as I've never driven to a game.
  17. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 5, 2010 -> 05:22 PM) The real question is, did the two girls kiss? If they did, I missed it.
  18. I spent 12 total hours in the pool on Saturday and Sunday. I am burnt.
  19. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jul 4, 2010 -> 09:21 AM) Are you NUTS? (who remembers this one?) The Brian Gorman rant? I think that was already mentioned.
  20. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 12:11 PM) It is kind of sexist, but I had a guy over selling us windows and my wife wanted some elaborate $15k aluminum siding and decorations, and I was vetoing it because I wanted either a new furnace, new roof, or new HVAC system. The guy said "you know what, you just described 90% of the married couples' houses I go into, the woman wants something that looks nice and the man wants something functional or that will save money" And that's why I say their priorities are f***ed up.
  21. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 02:58 AM) I gotta say, I agree that you're different opinion is good for a board. That being said, I agree with both sides. I will never look on Crede, JD, and Pods with disgust because they gave me some of the best memories of my life, but they also all have major flaws in their game (sadly, Crede's was staying healthy) Among other things.
  22. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 3, 2010 -> 08:33 AM) Somewhere in Lawrence, Kansas a man ejaculated in his shorts.
  23. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 2, 2010 -> 04:57 PM) I came in this thread to b**** but Ace's story definitely tops mine. Holy s***. Anyway, to summarize, yesterday I come home hearing my alarm making a different beeping noise than normal so I figure a fuse blew or something. I go downstairs and the stairwell light doesn't come on, I figure ok I guess it's on the same fuse. But the basement light doesn't come on. And no fuses are blown. I call my wife and ask "are you behind on the bill?" She says yes, I say how much, enough to get it cut off? She says "I don't know." The f*** you mean "I don't know..." so I go to find the last bill and the first one I open is a disconnection notice from May saying it was $699... seriously what the f***. I open the next bill and that one is the recent one that includes June and next month or whatever and it's about $1200 total. Now, really. How is this even possible? She makes more than the total amount of her monthly bills by a fair amount so this shouldn't happen. She says she called and it turns out she missed a payment last year and missed one this year. How in the f*** do you miss an electric bill payment? And not notice, like the balance doesn't carry over from the previous month? So, yeah, I had to pull like $600 out of my ass. Good thing I just got paid. My dad had to take control of all of my family's finances a few years ago. Two of my uncles had to do the same thing with their families. I know it's sexist, but tons of women can't be put in charge of money. Their priorities are all f***ed up.
