  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 08:39 AM) I watched that 9th inning, pretty damn unhittable. He was on B & B earlier this week when they were in town. They asked him the same question, he basically said that when he was out with his injury, he realized he how much he enjoys spending time with this kids and working on his farm. He's ready to be done with baseball and just spend all his time being a Dad and running the farm back home. That's great.
  2. This no-hitter s*** is getting stupid.
  3. QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 06:10 PM) DJ is awesome Agreed.
  4. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 05:53 PM) Sorry, I was looking up cell phones on AT&T's website. The hurricane at the Cell on Wednesday ruined my phone. Sorry to hear that. But no excuse next time.
  5. QUOTE (Felix @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 08:36 PM) Good news, everyone! I can't complain with those first two. They're always better after being seen a couple of times.
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:58 PM) Get Berkman for the DH spot, drop Kotsay or Jones. Its time. I would love Berkman and he'd be a perfect fit for DH as he's just a professional hitter.
  7. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:29 PM) Last 15 starts from the rotation..... Total: 106 2/3 IP, 79 H, 24 ER, 24 BB, 84 K, 2.03 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, 3.5 K/BB Sox are 13-2 over the stretch I find myself anticipating your first post in each winner thread now.
  8. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 11:14 AM) If you're going to platoon Beckham, just send him down. He's not going to find his confidence in a platoon system, and he's actually been worse against lefties than righties. Why is that always the case when we have/want a platoon?
  9. The day has come.
  10. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 06:41 PM) When Nix actually had regular at-bats last year, he put up an 84 OPS+ with a semi-respectable .408 SLG. That's miles better than what Lillibridge has done in the previous two years (OPS+ of 21 and 51, respectively). Nix is erratic, but he hits with power and is capable of impersonating a ML starter every once in a while. Their salary differences are minimal. Agreed that Nix is worthless on the left side of the infield, but he's decent at 2B. In the Sox's current situation, sending Beckham down and starting Nix at 2B, with Vizquel and Viciedo rotating at 3B and Lillibridge being the utility guy, would've made a lot more sense. Why bother defending a guy when that's the best thing you can say about him?
  11. QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 01:37 PM) What a great town, it's really a shame that many people that vacation there just hang out on Bourbon Street when there are areas like Frenchmen Street (definitely where I hang out when I go there) and see some of the craziest S*it in your life. Reggae Bars, Jazz bars, taco trucks, it is amazing Such as?
  12. Did anyone catch the premiere of Downfall? It's a game show on ABC hosted by Chris Jericho. I stumbled upon it last night and never heard of it before that. Let's just say it won't last the season.
  13. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 05:51 AM) If I was suave enough to pick up random women at a grocery store I'd never leave Trader Joe's. Both times I've been there the place was overrun with attractive (young and old) women. I advise everyone to take advantage of this before Milkman gets wind, starts creeping around, and ruins it for everybody. All I can say is, the man......has sexual demons. You swore you'd never tell.
  14. If they can continue to win more than they lose for about the next two weeks, I'll really believe they turned it around. One thing I can say for sure, though, is that they're getting me interested again.
  15. Chat crew?
  16. QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 07:24 PM) I get it, your younger than me and have to get drunk to celebrate, even at work. Never grow up dude Keep the PAAARRRRRTY going I can spell.
  17. QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 07:15 PM) It's an example of the perfect body type IMO ..May I ask why though?! I don't know...I wouldn't post pictures of my sister or family on a message board. That might just be me, though.
  18. Eh, I wouldn't go posting pictures of people on the site.
  19. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 05:34 PM) That's Otter-ly ridiculous! I'll be honest, I had to google your reference.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 09:42 AM) The point is that 1 player in baseball or hockey can dramatically render an overall talent disparity irrelevant. Additionally, lesser quality baseball teams beat higher quality ones all the time. It's a game where the most talented team does not always win, but rather, one where the team that is playing better at the time often does. Additionally, the team with the better SP often wins. In fact, the team with the better pitcher wins 59 % of the time, according to Bill James. In 2009, the Seattle Mariners were 24-9 in Felix Hernandez's starts. In games he did not start, they were 61-68. You explain that disparity, Milk. In 2008, the Blue Jays were 21-13 in Roy Halladay's starts, and 65-63 when he did not start. In 2008, the Giants were 22-12 when Tim Lincecum started, and 50-78 when he did not start. During the last three seasons, the Giants have won 64.7 percent of the time with Lincecum on the mound. The Blue Jays/Phillies have won 60.3 percent of the time with Halladay. And the Mariners have won 61.4 percent of the time when Hernandez starts. Link And if any of those three pitchers could start every game, then a single player would be able to make a team a contender.
  21. QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 08:48 AM) And you must be a great employee. Again, when you grow up and get a job, you will understand there is different behavior at work and in private. Perhaps your mom and dad get drunk at work, but most adults do not. That is why bartenders and waitresses are sober and their customers get drunk. Different roles. I thought most young adults understand that, but I guess some do not. Again, on the flight back from the game, no problem, keep chugging the booze. Back home with your buddies, keep the booze flowing, he can't celebrate unless he's drunk (or so you're telling me) Which makes me wonder how he will celebrate other life events. I can see him getting s***faced and spraying beer on is new born woo woo! At work, in front of millions, days later, hold back, be professional. Respect your employer and league. But I guess he can't slow his drinking for a couple hours. After almost fifty years on this planet, and meeting and knowing enough alcoholics, you see some common behaviors. Getting drunk at innapropriate times is one common factor. I'm not saying he is, he just might be a socially inept kid who gets drunk sometimes. But as the incidents keep racking up, it will be hard to come to any other conclusion. I get it, you're older than me and a billion times more mature.
  22. I got home about 25 minutes ago, and I've eaten 6 freeze pops. The humidity today was awful. I think I'm going back for 7 and 8.
  23. I'm not political at all, but holy s***, how the f*** is this oil thing still going on after 62 days?
  24. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 20, 2010 -> 10:20 PM) Eh, that's both true and false. Before they were given Pau Gasol for a used tampon (lol J4L) the Kobe Bryant-led Lakers were barely a playoff team. But they were a playoff team, which makes them a contender. I honestly don't think you can say that about baseball. Albert Pujols is likely the best player in baseball, but I still don't think he'd make the Pirates contenders.
