Catch All Anything Thread
QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 02:39 PM) Kids don't have a fully formed brain that has a true sense of right and wrong. No one gets that until they are older. Some never do. I knew what was right and wrong at probably around age ten, and definitely by the time I was in high school. And I really don't think it is extreme for a kid to get punched in the face by another student for getting a well-liked teacher of over two decades fired.

This is Why I Love Ozzie; Don't Deny You Love Him Too
I still remember Ben Davis breaking up Curt Schilling's perfect game (although it might have been a no-hitter) with a bunt. I loved it.

Pete Rose corked his bat?
QUOTE (kev211 @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 01:21 AM) Anyone could have corked that after Rose got rid of it. The unbroken change of ownership does not matter at all. Rose is a piece of s***. I wouldn't doubt for a second that he corked his bat. I'm surprised anyone would doubt it.

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
QUOTE (The Critic @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 04:34 PM) Which side are you arguing here, Milkman? I'm saying that I don't care if he was drunk. And if he's such a terrible role model and embarrassment to the organization for being drunk after the greatest accomplishment of his life, I want him to go all out and really earn that reputation.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 05:29 PM) Harsh! I have never been a parent (biologically or through marriage), but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night. How old is she, Keith? Excluding children from desserts or special occasions like that is pretty rough in my opinion. I always thought it sucked too when a punishment is applied for something like that without the warning in advance ("Next time you lose your key, you won't get dessert for a month..."). Maybe you could tell her the next time she loses her key she has to clean all the bathrooms in the house? Or some other equally unenjoyable task... My dad would have probably told me next time I lose it I'd just have to sleep in the yard til I found it again... Harsh? My ass. Seriously, it's "harsh" to not give someone a sundae after they've lost five keys? That's harsh? Like lost, I've never lost a key in my entire life. And if I lost five of them, my dad would've justifiably cracked me. Kids are assholes these days because there is no accountability. They can f*** up all they want, break rules left and right, and the worst that would happen is a five minute timeout (which probably won't get enforced either way). When I was a senior in high school, some spoiled little sissy started a food fight at lunch. One of the teachers in the cafeteria at the time started yelling for everyone to stop, and this same douchebag throws food off of him. The teacher grabs the kid by the collar and holds him against the wall. The next thing you know, the teacher is gone because mommy and daddy complained that their little brat was abused. That same punk was walking down the hall later that week, and another senior punched him right in the mouth in the hallway. He didn't start anything the rest of his time at school. Sometimes a kid needs a crack upside the head. I'm aware that lost's story is entirely different, but I just like remembering that story.

June Catch All White Sox Thread
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 05:07 PM) Even if he is part of the problem, so what? He'd still be 100% right in wanting out if the Sox went into rebuilding mode. s***, he even worded it as a hypothetical situation. And no, I'm not reaching at all, that's basically what you're saying: if you're not performing you shouldn't be answering media queries, there's like 5 guys on the club right now who haven't been part of the problem. AJ plays like s*** for 2 months then suggests that trade rumors have affected his play on the field. Well the only reason there are trade rumors is because the team isn't winning and his s*** play has played a part in the team losing. Seems like he shouldn't be running his mouth in this manor based on what I'm reading in this thread. Wayne Manor?

QUOTE (The Critic @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 04:10 PM) I can't WHAT it's been confirmed and then not corroborate it? http://www.lordsofpain.net/news/tna/8123.html More on the Huge Changes Coming to TNA By Marc Middleton Jun 11, 2010 - 9:06:39 PM Source: PWInsider.com - As noted before, Dixie Carter has hyped some major changes coming to TNA on her Twitter account. There has been a lot of talk that TNA has reached out to big names to work on the creative end of the company. It has been confirmed that two of those names are Kevin Sullivan and Paul Heyman. Word is that if Paul Heyman would come into TNA, he would need complete control of the creative side of things. It's also confirmed that TNA has talked with Sullivan about coming in. I hope you paid for that information, otherwise it's useless.

Official Squared Circle Thread
QUOTE (The Critic @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 05:15 AM) Here's why I think it's a work: Source: F4Wonline.com - As noted before, the reason being told for Daniel Bryan's release is because of him choking Justin Roberts with his own tie during the NXT invasion angle on RAW. Word is that someone very important complained to WWE officials about the angle with the idea that kids who were watching may think it's fun to choke people with their ties. It's unknown who actually complained but it had to be someone with a lot of power. Bryan is being described as a scapegoat. WWE does want to bring him back to the roster once the whole thing blows over. If that's the case, why not just suspend him instead? I kind of hope for his sake that TNA offers him more money and he goes there. It's stupid IMO for a company that "blew up" its own chairman on TV to tell a guy that the style of fake violence he chose to pretend to use is WRONNNNG. Man, America is nothing but a bunch of p*****s anymore.

Toughest trophy to win in sports
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 06:11 PM) I picked College Football as well. It sucks for teams going undefeated and still not being able to play in a championship, especially when there could be a team with a loss playing for the trophy. And in the case of Notre Dame, you can have a team with 3 or 4 losses playing in a BCS game.

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
QUOTE (The Critic @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 10:34 AM) Eh, it didn't bother me. He's 21 years old and he's got the world on a string. This may never happen again, so why go all-out? For parents, it's another "See, kids, athletes are NOT role models" moment. Maybe I'd have tried to keep it together during the rally, but I can't say for sure because I never scored a Stanley Cup-winning goal at the same age I could legally drink alcohol. Knowing how I was at age 21 I'd have probably worn a bullet belt of beers onstage. I hope Kane goes to the Cubs-Sox game today and throughout the course of the game, he funnels a case of Busch Light, does heroin while singing the 7th inning stretch, and then punches a child in the face. If people are going to cry about him not acting like a role model (as though he owes that to anybody), he might as well go the whole nine yards.

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 02:50 PM) I have a belief that there is really no legitimate reason for anyone to get drunk, ever... unless it's an accident (over drank and didnt know your limit). There's just no need for it. If your definition of "fun" is going out and getting plastered and acting like a complete boob, then I have no ambition to hang out with you. I would say the vast majority of people (at least the single population) looks forward to going out and getting drunk on the weekends. Who do you hang out with?

QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 08:20 AM) There is a huge difference in appropriate behavior when you are Partying in private with your friends Partying in public with your friends Representing your employer in front of 2,000,000 of their customers You have convinced me that someone at twentyone can't figure that out. It is too advanced of a social skill. Here is a tip, when at a work function, if you are clueless as to appropriate behavior, look to management and your peers. Perhaps look to other people at similar functions to see how they handled themselves. Obviously there are some posters here that think they can act like it is a private party while at work. Best of luck to you. Wow, you must be a fun person.

QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 12:35 AM) Is there a movie that you DO like? Seriously, I dont think I have ever seen you say you like a movie.. its always "I didnt laugh once" or "I hate all of them" or "I turned it off before it finished" You are like the harshest critic that there ever was I think I'm about 50/50. I like almost all of the movies I get from Netflix, but I hardly mention them in the thread because they're usually kind of old and I get through about four a week at times. And those three quotes are all true. I didn't laugh once at Caddyshack because it's so dated and unfunny now. I do hate all three of the main actors from Superbad because they're incredibly annoying, have no range whatsoever, and aren't funny. And I think 1 in 4 people who started watching The Spirit made it through the entire thing.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 07:25 PM) I actually get worried when we win now. I'm afraid that we're really going to make moves in an effort to make up the deficit. I like that kind of commitment to winning, but I think that hurts us in the long run. I'm always happy to beat the Cubs, but this series is coming at exactly the wrong time. We can't let ourselves be fooled into thinking we have a chance because we're beating up on the Cubs, and then end up keeping AJ.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 07:45 PM) Weren't they supposed to have all sorts of trouble scoring runs this year? Also worth noting that the top 3 run scoring teams in baseball are the Yankees, Red Sox and Rays (not to mention the Blue Jays have hit a billions HRs). That division is a MONSTER. Gotta feel for the Orioles. They're like the overweight girl that happens to have four hot friends.

HAWKS WIN! HAWKS WIN THE STANLEY CUP!!
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 09:21 PM) I love Kane the player, but as a person he's got some serious issues and nerve. I mean, this is the guy along with Toews who are being worshipped by thousands of youth hockey players in Chicago, Illinois and even the entire world. So what does he do? He gets wasted during the parade and keeps chugging beers down the whole time. Is it too much to ask for him to just not get wasted/drink while the kids are watching? I mean Toews was perfectly coherent, but Kane serious went overboard and made himself look like an idiot. Take it easy, Church ladies. He just achieved the greatest accomplishment in the field to which he dedicated his life. I'm sure the majority of these kids have seen their parents drunk and acting like idiots more than they will see a professional athlete do such a thing.

Guillen, Williams almost come to blows during shouting match
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 10:01 AM) That's what I would think too. But, the kid, and any kid for that mater, should go to college and get an education and learn to play baseball. I think KW will be gone as Ozzie Guillen led the team to a World Series Championship and KW has stripped our farm system of talent. That is my opinion on it. What f***ing sense does this make?

Official 2010-2011 NCAA Football Thread
QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 10:30 AM) Here's a big factor AGAINST the Pac-10 for any current Big 12 team. Pacific Time Zone. It may be the same distance to Seattle as it is to Happy Valley, but Texas doesn't want to be playing 10 pm EST start times. That would be a killer for a school with a huge fan base and huge alumni association. And to add my two cents about academics...even the guy who was last in his class in medical school is still a doctor. The AAU is a strong positive factor for induction into the Big Ten. There are 63 institutions on it ranging from Canadian colleges to Ivy league. That cuts out about 15 schools. Add in the schools that are lodged firmly in other conferences (Duke, USC, UNC) and small schools (Johns Hopkins, U of C, Wash U.) and your list dwindles. Nebraska doesn't bring much more to the table academically than is already in the Big Ten. What it does bring is football tradition, knowledgable fans that travel and fun, exciting new matchups. Finally, and I know I'm kinda looping back on myself but, for all this talk of travel...the teams that are talked about the most for travel have the biggest coffers. Texas and Notre Dame. Would it suck for the non-revenue sports? Probably, but at the same time, the football teams are going to make that back. And speaking of non-revenue...Texas and Notre Dame would add or create credibility in sports like baseball, softball, swimming, lacrosse and volleyball. Well, if he passed.
