Galarraga perfect game broken up by umpire
QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 09:21 PM) MLB umpiring this year has been a complete disgrace. I agree with the 1 challenge rule idea. Can be used for safe/out calls on the bases, fair/foul balls, etc. (not balls/strikes or HR's) Like Football replay must be conclusive. Nothing can turn fans away more than blown calls. Wait, why not home runs? I would think that those should be on the top of the list.

Galarraga perfect game broken up by umpire
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 07:50 PM) Wow, he was out by a step. And now, we're going to see instant replay on plays at bases. First thing I thought.

June Catch All White Sox Thread
QUOTE (pktmotion @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 01:31 PM) Won't matter who our LOOGY is unless Ozzie uses him correctly. Williams problem has been location, he walks a ton of batters. But even then if you notice his splits against LH hitting(which is the only hitting he should face) he has a serviceable OPP AVG of .250. It isn't going to blow your socks off, but it should get the job done for a LOOGY, if all he faces is LHers. Williams, however, has faced RHers 10 times more than he has faced LHers. (Righties are hitting a blistering .432 against him). It won't matter if Threets gets called up the mistake is in coaching, you help your pitchers if they can't locate pitches and most importantly, a good manager understands a player's strengths/weaknesses and plays to their strengths. It's dumbfounding how simple fundamental things escape our coaching staff. I pray for accountability. Wow, I didn't know that.

Joe Cowley says our season is over: do you agree?
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 2, 2010 -> 09:35 AM) Was it over when Houston was 15-30? NO.... It's probably over though. There's gonna be a lot of people eating crow at the end of the season, and I don't want to hear that anyone's happy to eat it! Seriously though, can we stop referring to Quentin as The Carlos Quentin? The guy does not deserve that nickname, and it's about to be two straight seasons of not deserving it.

Mark Teahen to the DL, Lillibridge Recalled
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 05:59 PM) I assume it would be worthless to look into Joe Crede? I know he isn't very good, but defensively he was still rock solid last year for the Twins. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't open up that can of worms.

Mark Teahen to the DL, Lillibridge Recalled
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 05:49 PM) Teahen had been one of our hottest hitters the last 10 days. Maybe you should pretend he was part of the 2005 team? Fantastic

Floyd Landis tests positive for testosterone
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 10:41 AM) Funny how you didnt address my actual point. I just lost another family member this weekend to Cancer, and anyone who has headed an organization on its way to raising half a billion dollars for survivors, families and research would never in a million year cross my mind as someone I would compare to Hitler. Maybe you think he used Cancer as a publicity ploy, but if you spoke to anyone who has actually received compensation or help from the Livestrong foundation, you would clearly see how f***ing off base you are. My point is exactly what GoodAsGould said and I'm sorry for your loss.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 08:34 AM) There's an online campaign organizing to get Donald Glover, an African American, an audition for the next Spiderman. The comedian? I remember him because he had a joke about his twitter account is accidentally "donglover."

Conspiracy thread
I don't believe there's any way that Oswald acted alone. I have no idea who else was involved, but there was someone else.

Floyd Landis tests positive for testosterone
QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 31, 2010 -> 09:41 AM) Yep I'd agree. The sad thing about this, is that Cycling's actually done a pretty decent job on this issue ever since the Operacion Puerto incident that lead to the suspensions of the likes of Ivan Basso (who just won the Giro de Italia) for 2 years back in 2006, and Landis has to bring Cycling's reputation into the muck again trying to clear his name when everyone knows you can't trust a single word that comes out of his mouth. Again, Jose Canseco.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 29, 2010 -> 06:19 PM) But he was a terrible hitter shortly before he met Walker. And he wasn't this good of a hitter long before he met Walker, either. Walker doesn't work with the veterans, remember?

Roy Halladay throws a perfect game!
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 29, 2010 -> 08:22 PM) These guys are just trying to make Buehrle feel mediocre. Obviously this doesn't diminish Buehrle's performance, but man, it really felt special when Mark threw his perfect game. It's starting to feel almost commonplace now, haha.

Floyd Landis tests positive for testosterone
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 29, 2010 -> 10:57 AM) Yes, Hitler. What is the point of your ridiculous post? Armstrong's charity (or his shield from cheating) has raised $325 million dollars for cancer research, prevention programs and funds for survivors. Amazing that he went through all of that to make himself look good in the press. Maybe if you have a family member who faces a battle with cancer or a loved one who has suffered the pain of treatment or even death you appreciate a program like his instead of taking such a pathetic short sighted view of the absolute bigger picture. You don't know a f***ing thing about me, so don't bring my personal acquaintances into this.

The Soxtalk Committee on Closing
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ May 28, 2010 -> 08:50 PM) I do love how much everyone hates Jenks yet thinks we could trade him to anyone for anything. Sweet-o-logic If by "anything" you mean "absolutely anything that a team will give us to take Jenks off of our hands," then yes, that's what people are saying.

MMA Thread
QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ May 28, 2010 -> 11:07 PM) In the little over 3 years that I've been watching MMA, I haven't been this excited to see a fight. They've done a great job of hyping up Rashad/Rampage. With that being said, I hope to see Rashad get his head knocked off tomorrow night. Can I ask why? I used to like Rampage more than Rashad (by a lot), but that completely flipped after their stints as coaches for TUF. Rampage came off as a real piece of s*** to me, all of the s*** talking and starting fights with guys who are nowhere near his training or ability, plus he was an absolutely terrible coach and didn't seem to give a s*** about his fighters. Rashad seemed to be a very good coach and basically the exact opposite of Rampage.

Floyd Landis tests positive for testosterone
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 28, 2010 -> 12:08 PM) Yeah, beating cancer was probably to cover up doping for a bike race. All the physical and mental struggle he went through was probably nothing. What's the point of this post? He was saying that he beat cancer, and that is a great thing, but he used the fact that he beat cancer to garner positive publicity while he cheated his ass off and left his wife for Sheryl Crow. Adolf Hitler could've beaten cancer...it wouldn't have made him a good person.

Peavy expresses concern about tired arm
QUOTE (hogan873 @ May 27, 2010 -> 06:30 AM) Oh for God's sake. Fine, he's nearly unhittable. Better? What I was getting at was he'd have one bad inning then come in and completely dominant for several innings in a row. I swear sometimes on this board you could say that Sox is spelled S-O-X and people would argue. Like I said, sometimes it's fun to just be an ass.

Boxing fans?
QUOTE (Real @ May 27, 2010 -> 12:50 AM) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLoeqT7vMIM not sure how to tag youtube videos properly, but this is a great fan video about the (IMO) best boxer in the world right now In your opinion? I mean, that's like saying "Albert Pujols is the best baseball player right now, IMO."

The Soxtalk Committee on Closing
QUOTE (T R U @ May 26, 2010 -> 10:41 PM) the closers job is to come in and get the save, which Jenks has done except one time so far.. and I know Jenks has sucked, but as long as he keeps saving the game even if its close to being blown, its whatever.. when he starts blowing saves on a regular basis im all for getting him out of the role.. As someone already said, would you have stuck with Shingo as the closer in 2005? I think it was said that he was 8-9 in save opportunities and had a better ERA than Jenks does now.
