  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 18, 2009 -> 03:51 PM) I hate when people don't believe you like citizen kane or other movies of the like, and are just trying to seem knowledgable, etc. It's apparently poor form to like older classics. Where did you get that? Unless you are talking about people in general, I admitted that the movie was revolutionary and great for its time. I just wasn't very into it.
  2. I imagine he is being very sarcastic. But if he's not, I have something to cheer you up. When the Sox play on WCIU and you can't watch his shows, just rent one of his 15 movies that come out annually.
  3. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Sep 18, 2009 -> 09:40 AM) I was fine with the Count and Thome moves, but shutting our arms down when we could still legitimately beat the Tigers would really anger me. Come on. An airplane can fall on me when I walk out my door today, but it's not going to happen.
  4. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 18, 2009 -> 09:01 AM) This was obvious 3 weeks ago.
  5. A lot of people seem to agree, then. The movie was revolutionary for its time, but it's pretty boring to many people now.
  6. If he misses the last few starts, I hope they don't use it to somehow screw him out of the award. It wouldn't surprise me, though.
  7. I watched Citizen Kane for the first time last night. Granted I was tired, but the movie didn't do much for me. It's considered one of the greatest films of all time. Can someone go into some detail on why it is so good?
  8. In order for a player to become the Rally ____, doesn't he have to come through in a clutch situation or something?
  9. QUOTE (ChiSox420* @ Sep 16, 2009 -> 02:27 PM) Does this mean I can stop searching the globe for where he has been hiding... He's visible from space. It shouldn't be too hard to locate him.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 15, 2009 -> 10:39 AM) So, doctor people...what's the long-term implications of a stress fracture in one's back? That just crossed my mind. It sounds like something that would stick with him.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 13, 2009 -> 05:32 PM) You don't have to be great at everything to be a great man. Just get the most important thing right. I'd say he did that
  12. That ERA is ridiculous. There is absolutely no intelligent reasoning to NOT give the award to Greinke.
  13. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 12, 2009 -> 07:08 PM) No, because you are annoying sore winners who want to rub things into people's faces for self-satisfaction. Nanner nanner nanner
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 12, 2009 -> 05:12 PM) I haven't seen an actor attached yet for any role, but I believe Dreamworks owns the rights. Carson will be hard to get right. Most of the strong leading men that you'd think of to be, basically, America's first action hero, are not going to look right. Carson is built more or less like Harvey Keitel - on the short side, stocky/beefy, craggy face. Most of your action hero types don't fit that. I was thinking maybe Ed Harris for the older version of Carson, but you need someone who can play him younger, and I don't know who that might be. Viggo Mortensen?
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 11, 2009 -> 02:48 PM) After learning about him in the Adams series I started to question how great Washington really was. Bah, the man still led the army in defeating the British. And of course the story of John Adams isn't going to go into great detail on what the man did right, but rather where he differed from Adams and such.
  16. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 11, 2009 -> 10:46 AM) Whatever McCarver says is always false. ALWAYS. Keep reading.
  17. I have been watching John Adams the last few days, great miniseries by the way. But while watching it, I repeatedly find myself wondering why they haven't made a miniseries or epic based on George Washington's life. Someone pointed out to me that there was a movie in the 1980's starring Barry Bostwick as Washington, but that doesn't exactly cut the mustard for me. With all of the epic movies and miniseries in the recent past, why haven't they done one about the man who most consider the greatest American ever?
  18. I think some of the reasoning is that we cannot treat it as a "holiday" because it would draw so much attention to the acts of the terrorists. Terrorism is a regular occurrence in many places, and we should count ourselves as pretty lucky that it is relatively infrequent here. It's important to remember what happened, and especially the lives lost, but I'm not sure we should dedicate a great deal of news and programming on it. I don't know, I sort of like the way they handle it. Either way, it's hard to believe it happend eight years ago. I remember it so vividly.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 12:29 AM) That's honestly as well as it can be said. In fact, I'd go a step further and say he's been worse in the second half than he was good in the first half. That was actually a quote from Family Guy mocking Tim McCarver. I just edited it a bit, as it seemed to fit.
  20. Super Troopers wasn't funny? Wow, and all this time I was laughing...I'm such an idiot.
  21. QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 11:33 PM) winning the world series 4 years ago with a radically different squad that was actually good probably wont affect the outcome of this next 21 games.
  22. In my view, as good as Jermaine was in the first half of this season, that's how as bad he's been now. -Tim McCarver
  23. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 10:39 PM) On the "annoying facebookers" article I am definitely The Crank. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
