What the f*** is wrong with SHIPPS?
There's a time to take a stand and a time to let it slide. As much as you may hate Tyler Perry, something like this is not where you want to make your stand. To me, this definitely seems like a power move. The chances that this girl remembers what you said are pretty good, and she's going to use this as a test to see if you will bend for her. If you go, you'll likely be rewarded and her friends will like you (considering you are friendly and all). If you make a stand with something this small, it'll be trouble eventually. I mean, it's just a few hours of your time. Concentrate on the benefits of sitting through it. Think of it as a weekday where your stomach seems a little upset, but you go to work anyway because you're saving your time off for a better time later. This is just my opinion, though.

Sox acquire Mark Teahen, $$$ for Getz/Fields
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 10:17 AM) If true it opens the door for a Polanco signing. I know I'm incredibly late on this, but that would make this move pretty good. I'm just wondering if we picked up a guy who only hits well against us. And might this make Dye our DH?

**Official Phillies vs. Yankees Thread**
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 10:30 PM) All that's fine. But with all the whining about their payroll (not singling you out. I'm talking everybody in general), you would think they were going on their 9th straight title. I just find it annoying to continually complain about their payroll. They do what they do because they can. It's not against the rules. How many times just on this board has KW been referred to as 'cheap'? Yet we all hate the Yankees because they spend more than everybody else. This is just how baseball is. The Yankees win about once every four years. This is in over a century of play, so nobody should be surprised. It's just how the game is. We've been fortunate that it's taken them 10 years this time.

You know what, I just found a reason to like the Yankees winning it. Hideki Matsui. I really like that guy (want him to be our DH next year), and he doesn't have a ring yet.

Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 07:18 PM) this is what I have http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.pro...oduct_Id=179211 It connects directly to your USB drive, you put a cd in your computer to program it, and program the password and you are off. No need for chips or anything else as long as you have a USB connection Ha, I started doing more research into it, and that was the exact web page I found. I was coming back to Soxtalk to ask if it was the right kind to get. Thanks.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 07:01 PM) make sure your aunt gives him her password if she has locked her signal. I bought my wireless adapter for 30 bucks and havent had any problems Wait, I just started looking them up, and they all seem to be chips of some kind. Are these chips supposed to be connected to a router, because this computer doesn't have a router. It's just a monitor and tower.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 06:58 PM) He just needs to be a wireless adapter which will pick up the signal. Get a USB one for 20 or 30 bucks, plug it in, follow the instructions, access the WIFI and your golden. Gracias.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 06:00 PM) Why do you guys think that? Pedro pitched pretty well in game 2... He's going to have to, because Petitte shut down Utley/Howard/Ibanez in game 3. The Phils need big games out of their righthanded bats tonight. Just a feeling I have.

Catch-All Anything Thread
OK, my younger brother still lives at home with our parents. My parents have no use for computers and no knowledge of them, but my brother wants to get the internet on our computer. Since my parents don't care about the internet, they have no desire to buy it, and my brother doesn't have money. My aunt lives directly next door to them and has wireless internet. So, here's my question. How do you get a regular desktop computer to pick up a wireless signal? Can you even do it? There is definitely connectivity in my parents' house from my aunt's house, and she doesn't care.

I think Pedro gets destroyed tonight.

LET'S MAKE A LIST '09 #1
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 02:31 PM) Rush made my cut and ELO wasn't even close. Didn't mean to bring you down, Bruce! You're an evil woman and I hope you turn to stone. My dislike for you will burn like a fire on high all over the world until you get on the telephone line and take back your blasphemy. Otherwise, hold on tight because there's gonna be a showdown. (There's at least seven ELO references right there.)

QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 02:09 PM) ELO is on my list and Rush just missed. They would both be on my list if I had remembered. I also tried to do mine as quickly as possible, with only the top 10 spots or so with my definite favorites.

LET'S MAKE A LIST '09 #1
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 10:46 AM) Some of John's Double Fantasy stuff was intentionally anachronistic to begin with, harkening back to doo-wop days etc. So now, yeah, some of it is doubly-anachronistic with the 80s overproduction on top of the throwback musical cliches. Sort of like ELO stuff, but good. ELO is great, and this reminds me that I left them off of my list...Rush, too.

Think A-Rod has a bit of an ego problem?
QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 3, 2009 -> 12:33 PM) If it's Carl, it's literally what he means. I meant like is it a poster of him playing some sport (I know people who have those because they were gifts from their high school) or something that he might have done by himself.

Mark Gonzales Interview By WSI
QUOTE (Tex @ Nov 3, 2009 -> 12:12 PM) OK, let me change to, I don't think a veteran player should have to have a cheerleader in his face if he doesn't want it. Give the guy some respect. A leader should have more than one approach based on who he is trying to lead. Perhaps there are some guys that need a kick, some a carrot, and some you should just stay away from. Perhaps we have too many one trick leaders in the club house. They also shouldn't have "cheerleaders" booted from the club if they don't like their "cheerleading," which I think was insinuated.

Halloween Thread
Someone finally posted a picture of me from Halloween on Facebook. I think I was a very believable state trooper. I was in a ton of pictures that night, but almost nobody with cameras has a Facebook account, and that disappoints me.

**Official Phillies vs. Yankees Thread**
QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 3, 2009 -> 04:07 AM) He's just saying he doesn't feel like Philly shares the typical "David" status of a team playing the Yankees because the Phillies are, after all, the defending champs. Exactly, and I agree. I really have very little preference for this series. The only thing that comes to mind is that I guess it would be nice if Cliff Lee won a World Series, but that hardly has me rooting for Philadelphia. It's the team that has the most championships in the sport vs. the team that just won it last year. That doesn't intrigue me.

Fall of '09 television thread
How about Dexter? John Lithgow was a great addition for this season. Trinity is an incredibly interesting character. The conversation between Dexter and Trinity when Dexter inevitably gets him (I think) should be epic.

Since it is Halloween Time
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Nov 1, 2009 -> 02:59 AM) I've always enjoyed movies that rely more on psychological terrors than someone merely hacking people together one after another. My favorites would include: Suspiria, Full Circle (a VERY underrated movie and scary as hell), Don't Look Now, Session 9, In the Mouth of Madness I still don't think that movie is too scary, and I lived there.

Halloween Thread
QUOTE (G&T @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 02:09 PM) I went as Officer Ramathorn from Super Troopers a few years ago. I had a full real cop uni from a friend's dad. Grew out the stache and everything. And being half Indian, I look like thorny. It was awesome. And people literally moved off the sidewalk thinking I was a cop. So use the power wisely. One problem: that stache is like the anti-poon. I came pretty close to disproving this tonight, but I'm pretty sure the stache killed me (as you said). Now I have to put in time that I didn't sign up for.

Since it is Halloween Time
QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Oct 31, 2009 -> 12:44 PM) The Shining is for me easily the scariest movie ever. The original The Haunting is real good too. Being old as I am, I love the old Universal horror movies, Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolfman, The Mummy and all the sequels too. On the subject of The Shining, I worked nights for fifteen years at a resort where a grisly murder had happened (not too many years before I worked there) and I could tell you some pretty creepy stories. Please tell them, seriously.

Frank McCourt...What's that old saying?
I'm pretty sure the saying is "Don't s*** where you eat," but that just might be how I've heard it.
