  1. And aren't Pujols and Howard like the same age? Pujols has over 250 homers, or something. Also, I hate when people jump on players like Howard and Fielder because they're getting blown by the media. Do people honestly think that fatass Fielder is gonna hold up over the long haul? Ha, not gonna happen. Pujols and A-rod will both have PLENTY more homers in their careers than those two.
  2. This thing gets more boring every year. Also, funny thing I noticed. Of course, Joe Morgan picked a black player to win it. But, when the two African-American players were eliminated in the first round, I turned to my friend and said, "I guarantee he picks the blackest player now that Fielder and Howard are gone, so he'll pick Vlad." He's clockwork.
  3. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 01:46 AM) I think books are more personal in that you have to picture a lot of things for yourself. Sometimes people are dissapointed when things in a film don't match how they pictured them when they read the book and that causes them to say the book was better. By they way, watched 'Once' tonight. Good film, with very good music. It's probably 60% music, so it's basically a musical and you should be prepared for that going into it. I'm not a big reader, though I've had to read certain books back in high school that were also movies. I remember reading the Running Man and loving it (and seriously, I've never read a book in my life that I wasn't required to read). I hadn't seen the movie with Arnold until after I read the book. I couldn't even believe the difference between the two. The book was incredible and the movie was the worst possible depiction of it. Another example is Salem's Lot. Two Stephen King books, ha. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 9, 2007 -> 01:22 PM) One day you should pick up a movie version and book version of something Stephen King has done. Anything. Carrie, Cujo, Dreamcatcher, The Dark Half, The Langoliers, Thinner, etc. Compare Stephen King writes some pretty terrifying stuff, and it never seems to translate to the big screen I didnt realize you were a super nerd if you read a book Ha, I hadn't even read this post before I made my own.
  4. QUOTE(maggliopipe @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 09:39 PM) giddyup Hey, it's that ****er guy!
  5. QUOTE(LDF @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 08:25 PM) yeah i remember the stuffing of the ballot..... that was a beauty.... there are a lot of stories that can be mentioned that a lot of the young posters woul find hard to believe in, like when we shut down the old espn site attack.... who was the lawyer guy that got the thing going with dago beef.... ahhh crap i feel like an old timer reliving stories. I've been here over two years, and I don't think I've ever seen a post of yours. Yet, you have over 4,000. What am I missing here?
  6. QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 03:16 PM) I am as old as you! and I am not bitter at all. I really could care less, but if you look back on this thread I saw so many people swearing at sox management and the moderators letting everything go. Now management does what everyone seemed to have wanted. I just thought I would call it out. Quite frankly having buerhle on or off the team means nothing to me, like i have said before the team needs to be competitive and win. Right now they are not winning. You're 22? I apologize.
  7. QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 03:07 PM) Let me say this there is no doubt garland goes now, along with Contraras, I am one that didn't really care if they signed buerhle and still don't but this means others will not get signed and will put a crimp in what we spend in the offseason. The payroll will stay the same as this year so again math needs to be done. Now for those who slammed JR and KW. For all the people swearing on the board and cussing at sox management please put some mustard on those crap sandwiches your about to eat. He gave you teenagers what you wanted, I hope a million dollars a win is good enough, and please try to get to the park more often to spend your macdonalds money OH AND MAKE SURE YOU STRAIGHTEN YOUR NAME TAGS. Wow, you are just a bitter, bitter old man, aren't you?
  8. I swear, Mark Buehrle is just like you, me, or any other true baseball fan. He understands that he doesn't need to absolutely maximize the amount of money he gets, because no matter what, he's always going to have more than he'll ever need. He could've gotten almost twice as many years and millions upon millions of more money in free agency. But, he chose to stay where he's spent all of his career because he's loyal and he's happy here. Thank you, Mark. You definitely are one of the best people in baseball, hands down.
  9. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 11:52 AM) A year ago was our epic 19 inning game vs. Boston. I thought that was 18.
  10. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 09:45 PM) Please fire Kennith Williams... he is back to arrogant and stupid ways. I thought maybe after 05 that hey, maybe he has finally learned from his mistakes as a GM and knows what he is doing... But now I know that was false and he is still the same GM he was 6-7 years ago. Exactly the word I would use to describe KW and the entire organization. Ever since they won the WS, they've acted like every move they made is the perfect one and that it's not even debatable.
  11. QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 04:05 PM) It just makes me sick to think we probably wont be seeing any more of this for the next 4 years because KW wont give in to 18 months of a NTC...i really hope someone rips him a new one at SoxFest next year Wait, it's only 18 months?
  12. The way the dugout reacted after Buehrle came out (especially Ozzie), makes me think he's definitely gone.
  13. Why is it that Buehrle went years without getting much media love, and now that he's about to be traded, he's one of the greatest lefties in recent times?
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 02:09 PM) Dye has flulike symptoms. Really? That pisses me off. I thought he was traded.
  15. What were Gavin's final numbers in AAA?
  16. There's no way this can be serious. Are you just trying to get a rise out of people?
  17. They said today was Hall's first RBI for the Sox? That's beyond pitiful.
  18. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 3, 2007 -> 11:12 AM) That was dramatic. Sounds like a line from a movie. Anyway, I don't think this team needs to be fire-saled (new word). I think a few of the right moves could go a long way. There is still a lot of talent there to base a new team around. Boondock Saints.
  19. The question is not how far. The question is, do you possess the constitution, the depth of faith, to go as far as is needed?
  20. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 01:20 PM) I'd just like to point out that the main page shows this thread as "Curtis Granderson's ass". I came into this thread specifically to post that. You son of a b****.
  21. "AJ Pierzynski and Scott 'Pods' Podsednik accidentally get caught in a pose that seems to resemble doggy style sex"
  22. I think someone posted this over a month ago. Get with it, loser!
  23. What's a good program for downloading movies? You know, the not quite so legal kind.
  24. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jun 30, 2007 -> 03:00 PM) You're obviously not going to agree on all the ratings but the imdb ones are the best. I'm pretty sure they keep a secret formula in actually determing the rating they get. I doubt 15 year olds giving She's All That 10/10 even registers on the movie's rating. I'm also convinced they somehow alter the ratings. Shawshank Redemption has more votes than The Godfather (by a whoooooole lot), and they both have the same exact viewer rating. Yet, Godfather is number 1 somehow.
  25. His career stats are first ballot material, and there's not really an argument against it. Congratulations, Frank.
