  1. QUOTE(Shadows @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 11:33 AM) Im willing to bet you know absolutely nothing about steroids except for "they're bad".. Steroids will not help you hit the ball, that is still a skill that you have to be able to do on your own, if anything, the bulk that you put on from steroids would hinder that ability. Steroids make your muscles grow, your tendons and ligaments do not. If they help so much, why is Bonds pretty much the only player who has done anything while "on them". Why isn't Neifi Perez badass? Why did Jason Giambi crumble, yet Bonds has shown no sign of slowing down? What about those 100 or so unnamed players who failed tests in 2003 when they first tested? I actually did a whole lot of reasearch into steroids about 2 years ago. Not only reading about the uses for certain steroids and their effects, but also opinions from doctors who specialize in the very topic. And as I said before, HGH CAN help vision and certain steroids CAN help fast-twitch muscles, making the person's reactions faster.
  2. The best thing for Mark Buehrle's chances at making the HOF would be for him to play a solid couple of years in New York, Boston, or some other national favorite.
  3. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 02:44 PM) Everyone in attendance who was booing him WHILE HIS WIFE AND KIDS WERE THERE, should be kicked in the face. f*** that. I'd boo him walking down the street with his wife and kids.
  4. I think he can definitely get to #13 overall by the time he retires. Of course, he'll probably be passed by the likes of Manny and A-Rod soon after.
  5. So, Kalapse and I are the only two who didn't think the Simpsons movie was hilarious? I thought it was "meh" at best.
  6. I'm pretty sure steroids WERE against the rules. They just didn't have a testing program. Also, I think HGH helps your vision. So, it would indeed help hand-eye coordination.
  7. QUOTE(Shadows @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 10:13 PM) Maybe not dominated, but I don't think any of them would be as glorified as they are today when their careers were up So, is Timo Perez a Hall of Famer if he played in the 40's?
  8. Ha, Barry Bonds plays against almost the same amount of African American players that Ruth did.
  9. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 10:09 PM) Saw all the movies for the first time in the past two days--Identity last night and Supremacy and Ultimatum today. This series transitions incredibly well and the third was definitely the best. Great stuff. As of right now, the movie has a 9.0 rating on IMDB.com. If it keeps that up, it'll be #3 on the top 250 movies of all time when it gets enough votes tallied. Also, saw Hot Rod today. It was actually good. I thought it might've just had the few funny parts in the commercials, but it was much funnier than I expected. Ebert gave it a great review, too.
  10. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 04:02 PM) Ew! She is nasty! Not even good looking! I expect more from you, PA! She looks like she got hit in the face. Alright, I just looked her up, and assuming I looked at pictures of the right girl, I have to say this. She's not gorgeous, but c'mon, you wouldn't stick it to that? If you're passing on a girl like that, you better be getting smoking girls left and right.
  11. I can't even remember an interesting trade deadline in years.
  12. Deadline's officially past. If nothing comes out soon, it looks like KW's great rebuilding/retooling effort during the 2007 season consisted of giving away two solid position players for Single A relievers that are likely to never reach the majors.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 01:53 PM) I find it interesting that so far, none of the guys KW has acquired seem to have a chance in Hell of helping the big league team next year. Or, you know...ever.
  14. I can't wait for KW to act smug as all hell when questioned why he's making terrible trades left and right.
  15. Great, another piece of s*** possible future reliever. I revoke my previous statement. The word "screw" isn't harsh enough. You should actually f*** yourself, KW.
  16. If it's another "project" single A pitcher, then screw you, KW.
  17. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 09:08 AM) Gwynn had 3100+ hits, but only 750 for extra bases. That's 2400 singles. For a guy who couldn't run the last ten years of his career, I don't see what all the fuss is about him. Defensively, he was the outfield version of Ripken. He caught anything he could get to, which wasn't much. Early in his career, Gwynn could run and he was a threat to steal, and he was a much more valuable defensive player. He could get on base, but he couldn't steal a base for the last ten years. He drove in 100 runs one time. I'm not arguing with his selection, but he's as flawed a player as Ripken. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?playerId=1150 I agree with much of what has been said of Ripken. Ripken was the first of the modern, slugging shortstops. He'd be in with or without the streak. Without the streak, though, he wouldn't be "Cal Ripken." http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?playerId=789 He had two MVPs & was Rookie of Year. That said, I was always way more scared of Eddie Murrray with the game on the line. This is the thing. When you think about Cal Ripken, you compare him with the greatest SS's of all time. When you think of Tony Gwynn, you compare him with the greatest hitters of all time, not just the ones at his position. You compare Ripken to Derek Jeter. You compare Gwynn to Ted Williams. The fact that Ripken is one of the best-hitting shortstops of all time does not make him a better fit for the HOF over Gwynn, one of the greatest hitters, period. Not that you were saying Ripken is more deserving.
  18. What's a good buy? The only two I really know are Norton and McAfee (the second of which I hate).
  19. Saw the Simpsons movie. Like Kalapse, I'd heard all of you people and some of my friends saying how funny it was. It had some pretty funny jokes in it, but it's still as bad as the new episodes are.
  20. QUOTE(Bonderman38 @ Jul 29, 2007 -> 03:49 PM) Kenny Rogers is on the DL again with left elbow inflammation. Jordan Tata has taken his rotation spot over. Oh man, I hope his nickname is Bodacious Tata.
  21. This guy won't ever crack the bigs with the Sox, will he?
  22. That's it? The Phillies just lost their starting 2B and got the best available 2B on the market for a single A player. Wouldn't we have gotten more by just letting Iguchi walk? (Note: I'm only on page 2, so maybe these things have been covered already) Iguchi was my favorite player on the Sox.
  23. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 02:51 PM) My bad, I guess it was Milkman who said he was growing on him. All you haters are the same to me. I think LCR also said it.
