Jon Garland traded for Orlando Cabrera
QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 01:44 PM) The sox have lacked a true #2 hitter for years. Cabrera is that. I bet more trades are coming but Orlando is likely staying put. Wait, what? Wasn't Iguchi like the ideal #2 hitter?

Jon Garland
Thanks for all the solid, and a few excellent, years on the South Side. And a special thanks for that little trophy that we couldn't have gotten without you.

Jon Garland traded for Orlando Cabrera
I like having Cabrera, but I think we should have gotten more for Garland. I think that is how most people feel, too. I also just can't see how we can compete this year, as there is much that needs to be done. I guess we'll see.

Official Squared Circle Thread
QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 18, 2007 -> 10:53 PM) Edge returns and helps Batista retain. Batista was out after a tombstone on the stairs when Edge attacked. Randy Orton retained after HBK tried different finishers like the sharp shooter, ankle lock, and CRIPPLER CROSSFACE. Eh PPV. Y2J tomorrow. Mark out in t-minus 22 hours My friend and I felt awkward when he did the crippler crossface. I couldn't really make myself look right at the screen. It felt sort of dirty.

QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 11:19 AM) Anyone catch the 100th episode clip show special? Man the creator/voice of all of those characters is a douchebag. I enjoy the show, but it's really not THAT great anymore. The line at the end was hilarious, though. "And hopefully we won't get cancelled for two and a half f***ing years in the middle of it."

Pet peeves....
QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Nov 11, 2007 -> 12:15 AM) Im guilty of this. I have a trained response in my head. Normally my answer to anything like this is "Hows it going?" and with my job I meet new people a lot and I just always say that when anyone says hi or even asks me whats up or how Im doing. Funny, I wouldn't think an alcoholic B-52 pilot would meet that many people at all.

Pet peeves....
Seeing the thing about 9-11 conspiracy theorists reminded me of this one. There are actually people out there who refuse to be organ donors because they believe that doctors don't do everything they can to save you (basically let you die) if they see that you are a donor. A guy I went to high school with told me that, and how he and a few of his friends aren't donors because of that. No matter how much arguing I did, he could not be swayed. I really wanted to strangle him to death for being so ignorant/selfish, but then I remembered that nobody would get his organs if I did.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 04:42 PM) Sorry SSI, I do that. I like to eat half of her meal, plus whisper about the funny s*** we hear other people talking about. I like your manhood peeves. I dont like the guy who is constantly wondering if his girlfriend is mad at him. Then he acts tough like he doesnt care, yet is seen running out of whereever he is 2 min later. How about the friend who gets a girlfriend and then you never see or hear from him until they break up. Ugh, dealing with that one right now. It sucks so much.

Pet peeves....
Has anyone ever been making a turn, but there is oncoming traffic so you have to wait, and you can see the person behind you in your mirror going insane because you don't risk slamming on the gas to make the turn at the absolute split-second chance that could end up with you making a successful turn or getting hit in the side?

Pet peeves....
QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 02:31 PM) Totally agree both ways. It makes me feel good when someone does wave, and pisses me off when they don't, especially when their lane is cutting off or there's some other situation where it absolutely is a favor to let them in. I've found way more people do wave than don't, so that's good at least. True about most people waving. I find I get even angrier when the non-waver happens to be driving a BMW or something. Good thread.

Pet peeves....
QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 02:29 PM) Ditto. Hate them almost as much as the asshole that rides the merge lane until the last second, then almost causes an accident to get over. And how about the jerk who sees you with your turn signal on, traffic is stopped, and acts like he doesn't see you to let you in? Or worse yet, the person obviously speeds up to prevent you from merging. That's just being a dick, ha.

Pet peeves....
I hate when you let someone in front of you in traffic, and they don't wave, like they're entitled to be there and don't give a s*** that you were nice enough to let them in. On the other hand, it always makes my day a little better when the other person waves.

KW
QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 3, 2007 -> 08:25 PM) I completely agree with this. I'll be surprised if he's with the organization at this point next week. Hopefully he's traded for Pat Burrell or Damon, and not some AAAA pitcher. Getting Damon and then hopefully signing Hunter...that would be a solid outfield. If they could do that, and then somehow replace Uribe with a half-decent hitting SS, the offense and defense should be good. The infield defense would suffer, while the outfield defense would get a huge boost. But, then we'd have to worry about our pitching staff. That's going to be a tough one, ha.

Could a team of you and your friends
QUOTE(Shadows @ Nov 2, 2007 -> 11:01 PM) you are bound to score sometime.. however I have had somewhat the same convo with my friends I am 100% sure that me and four of my friends could beat the best WNBA team, and I will even go out and say that it wouldnt even be close.. I LOLed, I'll admit it. I remember starting a poll about whether anyone would rather have a WNBA championship in their home town, or 5 bucks. The money won in a landslide.

Could a team of you and your friends
QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 2, 2007 -> 09:41 PM) Of course you could....in a 48 minute game, you could just throw up half-courters the whole time and probably make a handful. QUOTE(CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 2, 2007 -> 10:03 PM) At some point when they were trying to block you, they'd catch some arm and you'd get free throws. The only scenario I'd be really worried about would be if they started missing shots on purpose and dominating the glass just to refresh the shot clock and hold the ball the entire game. Those are the two arguments I kept making. You guys rock.

Bonds won't enter Hall
QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Nov 2, 2007 -> 06:04 PM) Hopefully he opens his own hall of fame that respects people's accomplishments on the field and doesnt get swayed by rumor and hearsay. Bonds has never been caught cheating, he has never been found guilty, and yet he is made an example of? What about all the pitchers in the HOF who threw spit balls, why are they not branded the same way? What about players who corked their bat and were caught on the playing field. Why is Bonds the example? Its a joke, and Bonds is right. This isn't a democracy. This is baseball.

Could a team of you and your friends
I had this argument with a friend of mine. He won't budge from this theory that a team of myself and four of my friends (himself included) could not score one single point against an NBA team in a full regulation game. The stipulation is that the NBA team is trying to play its hardest (which we all know never happens in reality). So, do you think that a team of yourself and four friends could score one measley point on an NBA team? I think it's utterly ridiculous that we couldn't score once, even on a lucky shot or a foul or something. To me, he seems to be attributing god-like qualities to these athletes.
