Rowand offered 4 yrs/55 million from Sox
This guy is going to be back to league average at best in the AL. He is not worth anything NEAR this offer. Remember how useless he was on the Sox, minus 2004? He's decent at best.

Miguel Cabrera to the Tigers
QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 07:47 PM) Well, you cant compete with that team now, with a Jerry Owens on the field. They are too far into this with the Cabrera trade & Linebrink signing to rebuild. We simply have to catch the ball now. Either Aaron or Jones HAS to be signed now-or we are 3rd place I'm getting tired of seeing this. Aaron Rowand is not going to be a big key in making this team compete. He simply isn't that great in the first place. Unfortunately, he's the most likely of the CF's to be signed.

Miguel Cabrera to the Tigers
Wow, with this deal, there are about 5 teams that are hands-down better than the Sox (two are in our own division). The Angels, Indians, Tigers, Yankees (especially with the possible acquisition of Santana), and Red Sox. We really should have started to rebuild when we had the chance. Or, you know, made some serious moves this offseason.

Miscellaneous "MLB" Trade Notes
QUOTE(Vance Law @ Nov 30, 2007 -> 09:49 PM) Totally unrelated to anything- I noticed that 5 former Sox 2nd basemen are free agents. That's wacky. I can think of about 3 or 4, but who are all of them?

Percival to sign with the Rays.
How'd they get Rincon and Wheeler? And when?

Films Thread
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 28, 2007 -> 01:40 AM) Ok, I just got back from No Country For Old Men and liked it. For those of you who saw the film, I'll just say that there is a scene in which Woody Harrelson is a little too good at his detective work. I'm being very picky about an otherwise solid film.

I can't help but notice that two celebrities (namely, athletes) died very young this week. Will there be a third?

Well, this kind of sucks because I can't find a picture for "more," but whatever: more

Official Squared Circle Thread
QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 26, 2007 -> 09:31 PM) So VKM says the next time Flair loses a match, his career is over. Ugh. EDIT: so now Orton comes to the ring and challenges Flair to a match - could this crappy angle possibly lead to one more title run for Flair? I already heard from a friend that this angle is Stone Cold's idea, and that Flair will lose at Wrestlemania and retire. That leaves plenty of time (about half a year) to get him the title one last time. Maybe it'll happen at the Royal Rumble.

Flair to "retire" or retire tonight...not really sure what to make of this one. I'd like for him to somehow win the title once more before he actually does retire.

Christmas Movies
QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Nov 26, 2007 -> 04:52 PM) The Alistair Sim Christmas Carol is the only one worth watching. Period. I've got your back, Jim. I love A Christmas Story, too. It should be on every Sox fan's list of favorites. Jean Shepard was a dyed-in-the-wool Sox fan, after all. I really liked the Muppet version as a kid. And as soon as I saw a typo in the poll, I knew Critic would be the one to point it out

F Cordero
In case anyone was wondering, Cordero signed with the Reds. That should probably be in the name of the thread.

Torii Hunter signs with LAA Angels
Wow, if the Angels land either Cabrera or Tejada, they're basically locks to face Boston in the ALCS next year.

OFFICIAL: Sox Sign Linebrink - 4 yrs, 19 mil
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 11:04 PM) No. I think he's a flash in the pan. It wouldn't surprise me if his ERA is near 6.00 next year. That's where you're wrong. He'll put up an ERA of 0.84 and take home the Rolaids relief man of the year award. Book it.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 10:59 PM) Somehow, this big fish thing is gonna end up with us acquiring Neifi Perez. We can only hope...

OFFICIAL: Sox Sign Linebrink - 4 yrs, 19 mil
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 10:57 PM) It would be nice if at least one of the guys between MacDougal, Aardsma, Masset and Sisco could actually be effective next season. I don't think you could count on it, and I'm happy it appears KW is not, but stranger things have happened. KW brings in another guy and one or 2 of these guys do what the White Sox thought they would do and the bullpen goes from total disaster to a strength. Its always nice to dream in November. Are you relying on Wasserman to do well?

OFFICIAL: Sox Sign Linebrink - 4 yrs, 19 mil
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 10:38 PM) You catch a "fish" with a "Line"(brink). Damn it, you're right.
-
OFFICIAL: Sox Sign Linebrink - 4 yrs, 19 mil
It's expensive, but I like it. Still, there's a lot of work to do to make this team a contender. I guess we'll see what happens pretty soon, as most of KW's moves seem to all come in bunches. Your ass better be worth it, Linebrink.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 09:43 PM) So my roommates new girlfriend has sent me (now going on) 120 texts in the last four days. A little strange? I kind of think so... 120 texts from anyone in four days is strange, no matter who it is. EDIT: And unless she's just a really weird/friendly person, she clearly wants your balls. In that case, you probably should tell your friend...and I would've done so about 110 texts ago.

A question about MASH
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 06:05 PM) I wonder when the next M*A*S*H-like show will hit our TV waves? Hospital shows, Lawyer shows, Crime Scene Investigator shows, shows about a dad who happened to be a former stand up comic shows, Crime Scene Lawyer who used to be stand up comic shows that take place in Hospitals, etc It's been a while since we had a war show... What are those two?

Jon Garland traded for Orlando Cabrera
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 06:24 PM) Other than KW saying he's still trying to land a big fish, no. Probably also worth noting we don't know how much money is coming back, but that's about it. That's mostly what I wanted to know. Thank you. You're a gentleman and a scholar.

Jon Garland traded for Orlando Cabrera
A little help here, please. I haven't been able to check this thread for about 2 hours with the commute home, cooking, etc. Is there anything new since then? I don't feel like reading 10 pages of what is probably a lot of back-and-forth debate on how much this trade sucks or may suck eventually.
