QUOTE (3E8 @ Apr 12, 2008 -> 05:19 PM) I just sent my list. It contains all three Austin Powers I only put the second one in mine, but all three Naked Guns made it for me.

So, old people think The Graduate is funny. That's what I've gathered so far. I also didn't find Dr. Strangelove funny. My #1 would probably be Blazing Saddles. I'll try to do a list some time today.

QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Apr 11, 2008 -> 11:17 AM) Did you get to see him pitch? He was a solid prospect but he took a step back when his old man died and then when things seemed to get going, a hip problem (I think) ended his career. Game 4 of the 1983 ALCS was one of the gutsiest performances I ever saw by a Sox pitcher. Too bad Jerry Dybzinski sucked eggs. Well, looking at his stats, his last year in the MLB seems to be the year I was born. I think not.

The Start of a Season, Why Are You Here?

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Apr 10, 2008 -> 08:10 PM) I know it doesn't change the amount of posts, but one way to make threads like that "less intimidating" is changing your board settings. If you have a decent internet connection, go into "My Controls", then on the left hand side scroll down to "Board settings", and change the "Number of posts to show for each topic page" to 50 or 75. It takes a day or two to get used to, but it really nice. 50 works great for me. I understand what you're going for there, but that doesn't change the number of posts. EDIT: And now I see you said that in the very first sentence, ha. It's just still too much for me to want to read. -
The Start of a Season, Why Are You Here?

Yes, I also hate the ridiculously long threads that are a bunch of different threads combined. If I wait a full day between reading them, there's already around 15 new pages and I end up passing over it. -
QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Apr 10, 2008 -> 12:47 PM) Bill Melton, Ritchie Zisk, Eric Soderholm, Marvis Foley, Chet Lemon, Oscar Gable, Ron LeFlor, Britt Burns, Roy Smalley, Joel Skinner, Reid Nichols. I don't know why, but that sounds so much like a pornstar name to me.

The Sopranos? It worked pretty perfectly and was not intended for the show in any way. The Wonder Years was also a good one, Sleepy.

Are games that are on WCIU not on the baseball package? I'm looking through my comcast, and I'm seeing nothing for the White Sox game. -
Buehrle (0-0) vs. Verlander (0-0)- KEEP IT UP!!

QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 07:07 PM) so, I shouldn't have an opinion? I shouldn't be allowed to think Ramirez should play 2B ahead of Uribe? You just always find something to complain about. -
Damn. RIP. There aren't many actors that I'm seriously sad to see go, but he's one.

QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 01:56 AM) I finally saw There Will Be Blood. I don't know whether I liked it or not, but I do know that the ending was completely awesome and everything I could have ever wanted from that movie. That's exactly how I felt when it was over. All I knew was that Daniel Day-Lewis put in a f***ing great performance. That guy's the best actor going right now.

I just got back from The Ruins. The monster or bad guy, whatever you want to call it, was disappointing.

I have a really good feeling about Danks this year. He's always improved after a year in each level of the minors. I think he's going to have a damn good year, especially for a second-year player.

I just made a bet with a friend. He is very confident that Johan Santana is on the downswing of his career. He actually bet me that Santana's ERA will be over 3.5 for the year. I can't help but feel like a shoe-in, unless there's some freak accident.

QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 12:03 AM) Not sure how the ending was "gay". That is how they built it up to be. Flair's swan song and he is DONE wrestling. It's not like he is "retiring" when he is 35 or 40. I'm guessing Orton drops the belt to HHH at Backlash...unfortunately, because HHH doesn't need the title. "I'm sorry...I love you" = gay. -

QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 09:31 PM) Flair/HBK was awesome. The match was good. I didn't like the ending...sort of gay. It definitely could've been helped by the wrestlers in the back coming out to say goodbye. I didn't want Mayweather to win, but I can deal with the way that went down. The match was more interesting than I thought it would be. Glad Orton won, and a perfect way for it to end. Now, HHH and Cena can feud. Undertaker...well, not surprising. I'm also glad that Kane gets a belt. He's been around too long and been too big to only have had one major belt for a day. -

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 03:50 PM) If I recall correctly, LCR got banned in a thread over at SLAM. No clue what happened to Boz. Since it's asked. My Mania predictions: Finlay over JBL Kane wins the battle royal, then wins the ECW strap...even though a sentimental pick would be Dreamer. Batista over Umaga Kennedy to win MITB, I think the twist will be him cashing it in after the main event HBK over Flair it's gonna be the 'Taker Cena wins the triple threat. Mayweather/Show will have some kind of swerve that allows Mayweather to win. Essentially the same as hizzle Please point me to the thread in which that happend. That sucks. -

QUOTE(Shadows @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 12:53 PM) you DISGUST me QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 01:00 PM) Yeah, that would NOT be PERFECT! Well, a lot of Undertaker's wins at WrestleMania have been over some pretty weak opponents. And the last straw, for me, is that he's going to walk the entire length of a football field during his entrance. His PPV entrances last 15 minutes as it is. I sure as f*** don't want to see how long this will be. -

There's a couple of things that I would like to happen tonight. Mayweather to job to Show, Orton to retain, Edge to break Undertaker's streak, and most importantly, Flair to win and retire. -

QUOTE(The Critic @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 09:49 AM) OLD MAN??? HOW DARE YOU!!! It's true that "my time" was the late 70's and early 80's, but probably my favorite era of wrestling was the Monday Night Wars into the ECW and "Attitude" era. There was just so many fun angles, a lot of guys getting to show their personality and humorous side, and just a lot of variety and competition between three very different companies with very different approaches. Back in the old AWA/NWA/WWWF days, almost all of the main eventers were really solid technical guys. Verne Gagne, Nick Bockwinkel, Billy Robinson, Bob Backlund, Pedro Morales, Dory and Terry Funk, Jack and Jerry Brisco, Harley Race, Pat O'Connor and many many more. In those days nobody scoured Muscle Beach for performers, they almost always came from the amateur wrestling ranks. The downside of that is many of them didn't have the mic skills or flashiness most guys had and have since. Thus the need for aging wrestlers who could talk well to become managers. I think Flair's career would be enhanced by becoming a heel manager, and it would help guys who can't work well on the mic. Flair talking so Batista and Orton don't have to??? Count me in!! I know Ric doesn't have to do anything after Sunday and his legacy is solid, but if he wants to stick around it would be great for the business to keep him in a prominent role. I haven't seen LCR around here for quite some time. That surprises me, especially in an election year. He must be too busy with his personal or school schedules. I guess his career could be enhanced by managing, but only minimally. He's already legendary, and I think I'd rather see him just walk away. That's just my opinion, though. There are very few wrestlers today that have the total package. For me, that consists of technical ability, charisma (or lacking that, a good mouthpiece), a quality gimmick, and a recognizable finisher/go-to moves. And this one is the hardest to come by, the willingness to put someone else over. All of my favorite wrestlers, present and past, fall into these categories. That was off topic, but I felt like saying it.
