I had hopes for The Happening...until I decided to look into reviews and spoilers that have already come out. It sounds f***ing horrible now, which is what I originally expected.

Catch-All Anything Thread
Did American Idol end? The last I heard, there were two guys with the same name left. But, I haven't seen news about it. I don't ever pay attention to the show, but I usually am aware of who wins because it's all over the place.

Strange Object on Mars?
OK, so I know what movie it's from, but what is the thing the apes are surrounding?

The "Goobacks" episode of South Park is on right now. It's ridiculous to think of how funny the show was, compared to now. Again, my opinion.

Strange Object on Mars?
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ May 28, 2008 -> 02:28 PM) Well, I for one think it's pretty obvious what it is. I know that's a famous scene from a movie, but what is that? And what movie?

Pitcher killed by lightning-strike
I find this title very misleading. I expected it to be about a pitcher that was struck by lightning while pitching. It's like starting a thread titled "Satellite dish installer killed by lightning," and then have the article say it happened while he was mowing his lawn.

TalkChicagoSports.com's Top 40 Greatest Chicago Sports Players
To me, leaving off Banks and Thomas is akin to no professional baseball player ever receiving a 100% vote for the Hall of Fame. It seems like it's just some jerk who's doing it to be a jerk.

Orlando Cabrera Calls Press Box to Complain During Game
I don't feel like reading the article, but does anyone know if that "error" led to a run? If so, he's a douche for getting a run charged to one of his pitchers by crying.

(Maybe) Bad News for Bagwell, Pettitte, Clemens
I hope you realized I was being very sarcastic, Bri.

(Maybe) Bad News for Bagwell, Pettitte, Clemens
Oh yeah, I'm so surprised that Bagwell did steroids. I can't even emphasize how utterly surprising this is to me. I mean, it's almost as surprising as when I found out that Sammy Sosa did steroids...just complete shock.

QUOTE (shipps @ May 25, 2008 -> 03:43 PM) As I predicted only two that made 18 out of 18 lists. But it also seems that the other two I said might just be a slip of the mind.

So who was the person who didn't vote for Thomas?

2008 White Sox Catch-All Thread
Besides the random winner threads, I haven't been interested in a thread in Pale Hose Talk in several months. I don't know why, but I just felt like saying it.

**White Sox vs. Angels Game Thread! 5/24/08**
So we can't beat the Angels. Let's hope we don't see them if we make it to the playoffs.

I was just about right on with Pippen. And there's only one idiot (unless that person just completely forgot Banks for some reason) that didn't choose Banks at all.

Hmm, whenever I hear stories about someone being killed by an animal, I usually go back to the same thought. If someone very close to me was killed by an animal, I think I'd probably kill as many of said animal as possible. I know they say you can't take revenge on nature, but I'd give it a shot.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 24, 2008 -> 01:12 PM) I fully agree. Thankfully someone agreed. I just figured there had to be a pretty good amount of people that agreed, but wouldn't say anything because of the movie's legendary status.

TalkChicagoSports.com's Top 40 Greatest Chicago Sports Players
I think the point I'm trying to make is that this thread is not like the funniest movie thread. The idea of funny can be pretty vague and a lot of people have different views on what is funny. But, there should be about 5 sports players in Chicago history that are, without question, on everyone's list.

TalkChicagoSports.com's Top 40 Greatest Chicago Sports Players
QUOTE (shipps @ May 24, 2008 -> 11:02 AM) Dont get me wrong,I dont think it is something that should happen but knowing this board it will probably happen. And as for Banks, considering Maddux was ranked like 16th mostly because he was a Cub I could see Banks getting lost especially with the younger voters.Remember Iam just talking about 18 out of 18 lists not where/if they are ranked. Oh, I understand. But, I still think Banks should, and will, be on all 18 lists. Maddux wasn't a lifer on the Cubs, and most don't remember him best as a Cub. Banks, on the other hand, was and is remembered as a Cub. If a young voter doesn't know who Banks is, no matter how young, they're just a f***ing idiot and shouldn't have their list counted anyway. No offense to anyone.

QUOTE (shipps @ May 24, 2008 -> 09:55 AM) I bet Banks wont and I imagine their could be a Thomas hater and leave him off their list out of spite. Out of 18 people that voted on a White Sox message board? That'd be pretty outrageous, and the person who did that should be kicked off the site. I mean that in all seriousness. And Banks should be on everyone's list, also. You can't name 20 better athletes in Chicago history, period.

I'm now watching RoboCop for the first time since I was a kid, and I must say that this movie is funnier than Caddyshack.

QUOTE (shipps @ May 24, 2008 -> 08:19 AM) Well their has to be atleast 2 that will be on 18 out 18 lists. I can think of four: Jordan, Thomas, Banks, and Payton. It also wouldn't surprise me to see Pippen on all of the lists, but he's more likely to be around 16.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 23, 2008 -> 04:02 PM) From the google: They put it behind a subscription wall, but Bill Simmons at ESPN.com addressed this question. If I recall correctly, his interpretation was that the additional bets that take place before the final shot (where Rodney Dangerfield ups the ante, and Ted Knight agrees) essentially wipe away the original bet and focus everything on the single remaining shot. Dangerfield says, "double or nothing he makes it," which doubles the original bet and focuses the bet on the final putt, not the entire game. Awesome, thanks for the answer. I honestly watched the whole thing, and I might've laughed out loud three times. And those laughs even felt forced. It was probably hilarious back in its day, but I could've watched it without even cracking a smile. It was not funny.
