Am I the only one who is so used to the default blue that another skin throws you out of whack?

Sorry, I don't want anything to do with the Mets if we're not getting a bullpen piece. What the fish would be the point of trading for second-tier prospects when we're in a playoff race? The only reason I can see us trading for prospects is to turn around and trade them for ML talent, but what the hell would we get for only second-tier prospects? The Mets don't seem like they really wanna do business.

QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 11:35 AM) its about time a team puts a Brick into the window of that theory I don't know if it's just because I'm tired, but that made me laugh.

If you're talking about bad matches, note any match with Trish Stratus. I know nobody actually takes the women's division seriously, including myself, but sometimes it's hilariously bad. My favorite move is when the opponent goes to side kick her, and she does that stupid "Matrix" style backwards falling thing. The best part is that it always takes her about 15 seconds to do it, so the opponent has to actually stop and wait. Plus, Trish is the female HHH.

I only wish our players showed as much heart and enthusiasm as Zumaya did in the series.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 05:38 PM) The Sox are 2-7 in their last 9 FWIW. And the scary part is that we lost all of those series to our competition in the playoff race. I dunno, something just tells me this team doesn't care as much as they did last year. They seem a little too complacent. Losing to the top AL teams makes me think that maybe we're just not as good as them.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 05:02 PM) They're 6 games out of the division and WC races, they're not going to trade their starting catcher. Plus he's got about $8M left on his contract which runs through next year, that would be insane for a backup catcher. I...uh...didn't think I needed green for that one. Kalapse should know this.

Padres, Twins, and Angels. Those are the teams I assume will be looking into him.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 04:53 PM) Keith made a great post in the other thread about Torrealba. Who knows if he's available. I would suspect Zaun might be, and possibly Blanco. If there's a way to improve the defense, they should do it. Blanco can certainly do that re: the running game. But again who knows if he's available. Logic says yes, but then again we're talking about dealing with the Cubs which is always a unique situation. I don't know much about Torrealba. Zaun might be nice (sure they wouldn't give us Molina?).

We've already heard Blanco, but are there any other catchers out there that could be had? Sandy Alomar, Jr.? I figured I should start this thread because just stating that Widger has a BA of .184, a CERA of 5.50, or that he cannot throw a runner out isn't good enough for some posters. I won't name names. So, let's try to figure out who is actually available. We are at about a .400something winning percentage when he catches. Even though he's only the back up, we can't allow him to drag the team down so badly. Every game counts when you're down 5 1/2 games.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 04:30 PM) Don't forget about how worthless Scott Podsednik is, and how he's done nothing for this team in the year and a half he's been here. We claim he's done nothing this year because he doesn't steal or do anything well. He was clearly a better base stealer last year, and was the spark to the offense. He also played decent defense last year.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 04:23 PM) Someone makes a whole goodbye thread crying about how he can't bear to see another negative post -- and it's everyone else that's "that damn emotional"? Lol. Haha, exactly what I was thinking.

I think it's time to create a new rally thing. The Rally Crede doesn't seem to be working anymore. Honestly.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 04:09 PM) We blame YOU. Wow. Have fun, people. Is he not blaming the pessimistic attitude for his departure?

The Sox lose, people get pissed off, and then they blame the pessimists. It's not our fault the Sox are playing the way they are.

I want to apologize to Widger on behalf of the entire Soxtalk nation. We unjustly made him our whipping boy. If it weren't for a few rough spots here and there (and not due AT ALL to an entire season of awful play), we would have never been on his case. He's a good player and he brings a lot to the table. I'm certainly glad he's on this team.
