  1. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 02:08 PM) Probably Major League 2. From this guy's description, it sounds like the part where Wild Thing is sitting in the bullpen sulking after seeing his ex with a Sox fan, and then the dumb catcher gives him the speech about getting kicked by a mule.
  2. I'm glad Katie Holmes got nominated. I couldn't f***ing stand her in an otherwise great movie. Her stupid half smile during serious scenes. Talking out of the side of her mouth. She sucked.
  3. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 09:16 AM) favre knows the deal and he knows how this all works. he could easily have declined comment out of respect for the teams competing in the super bowl. that is where the focus should be this week. and this will just be the start. guaranteed holmgren gets asked about it, giving us another day of these stories. Does it really matter? People really just don't care about this Superbowl. You and I might, but a whole bunch of people just couldn't care less. It's Seattle and Pittsburgh. There's not much there for a national audience. ESPN and such have to talk about something that will interest people.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 03:49 PM) That's the one with Tom Hanks right? Good movie. Crazy ending. Yes, that's the one. The ending wasn't really crazy. It seemed like the whole movie was building up for it to end that way with the innocent/sinful and light/dark comparisons throughout it.
  5. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 03:27 PM) I'm against enforcing the death penalty, but I like having it as an option. I think it should only be used in extreme cases (Gacy, McVeigh, Dahmer, etc.) Glitter
  6. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) That's another thing I don't understand. Some people say Contreras only pitched well for half a season, the Sox should get something for him and put BMac into the rotation. BMac didn't pitch well on the big league level for half a season, what makes these people so sure BMac is a sure thing but Contreras is not? Its all a mute point, KW said he isn't trading any of the starters. I think Contreras pitched well in the beginning of the season. He didn't pick up wins, but he had some bad luck.
  7. My roommates and I watched Road to Perdition last night while drinking. It's not the first time I've seen it, but damn is it good.
  8. Who else has ever worn the C for the Sox?
  9. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 02:05 PM) try reading an SI article on this stuff. About steroids or about Lopez losing weight? SI isn't quite the best place to look for knowledge on steroids.
  10. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 05:51 PM) I don't mind him saying anything. He's been a part of this team his whole career. I hope he gets his 500th this year. If the White Sox don't win it, I hope Oakland does with a healthy Frank. Frank's gonna hit 52 homers this year in Oakland when we can't even remember the last time he was healthy?
  11. QUOTE(Whitewashed in '05 @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 03:33 PM) After 16 years with a team and so many accomplishments I am sure he wanted to stay and would have taken a deal with the sox like he did with the A's, but it just wasn't the best for the team. I am sure some of those close feelings of his were hurt and he just had to vent. I look at FT no less after reading that than I did before. He could be a little mad that he's leaving this homer haven and going to a cavern.
  12. QUOTE(Spiff @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) Not as lopsided as I first thought. I don't like losing Ricky but getting rid of Blount and the albatross of a contract was priority #1. Wally is a punk, but he can shoot. Kandi is gonna sit every game and then he's a free agent. It's time for Jefferson and Perkins to take over for good. They weren't gonna keep Banks anyway, and Reed is a free agent too. As good a defender as he is, they weren't using him much anyway. Plus they get a first rounder. The main problem is that Wally doesn't play defense, so instead of giving up 100 points a game, now they might give up 102-103. It doesn't really matter though, this team isn't going anywhere this year. Not only are they incapable of winning on the road, but at home they have the uncanny ability to jump out to leads and then turn around and let the other team back in it (see: wednesday's disgusting loss to Washington). They are too young, they don't know how to win games yet. It's going to be two-three years before all this rebuilding shows any results. The Doc Rivers special?
  13. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 12:28 PM) I don't think Davis is that good. If Olawakandi resigns with Boston then I think Boston got the better end of the trade. From what I've heard from fans here, it sounds like they're gonna let Olawakandi walk and that they were trying to dump Blount's contract. Rebuilding, I guess?
  14. Hey, Frank could've ended his career with the Sox if he just f***ing retired instead of pulling a Fred McGriff. And yes, I realize Frank is much, much better than the crime dog. He's just sticking around to get that 500th homer, though.
  15. He also criticizes the current testing systems. I've heard about this guy, but I don't know much about him. I like the cut of his jib. http://www.nbcolympics.com/alpine/5089441/...html?qs=pt=espn
  16. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 09:47 AM) I never thought of it that way, but maybe that is why I never got so attached to Frank, like many other did. I am a third generation Sox fan and can remember games all of the way back to the southside hitmen. The Sox exisited before Frank for me, and will exsist after... I have seen players come and go, and while it is sad to see him leave, I guess its just part of the game. Holy hell, I think we just agreed on something
  17. Unlike a few here, I didn't become a White Sox fan because of Thomas. I became a White Sox fan because my parents are. Frank Thomas won't do anything special next year and he'll fade away from baseball. Sucks for him, but that's the breaks. I don't know why the guy has to be a dick like this, but I hope he enjoys never reaching 500.
  18. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 06:21 PM) Just saw 'The Aristocrats'. Some extremely funny moments but it did not deserve a full length feature film. Should have been a 60 minute documentary. Terrible. I love vulgar humor and I didn't laugh once during that movie. I just saw End of the Spear, and I think that was pretty good. It might be due to the fact that I didn't expect much of it, though.
  19. QUOTE(TLAK @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 09:22 PM) Scot Gregor is a GM? Yep, that's what I meant.
  20. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 05:04 PM) As long as Anderson is strong mentally (which I think he is, he's a goofball by all accounts) he will make us forget about Rowand in a hurry. People loved Rowand because he played so hard and was a good guy and team guy, and I don't mean to diminish him here... but seem to forget something; he wasn't all that good. Crash has average speed, other than 2004 wasn't all that great at the plate, and many of his really good catches are plays Anderson could make in his sleep with his better angles and general speed. This whole offense is based on Thome though IMO. If he stays healthy, we will be top 3 to 5 in the AL. If not, we will be around last year, although a bit better IMO. Who's the third guy in your sig? There's Anderson and Bajenaru (I think), plus?
  21. QUOTE(TLAK @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 08:53 PM) I’m disappointed he didn’t ask him why it’s so F’ing smart to trade the most productive two way CF in the American League and two very hard to find LH pitching prospects for a $13 million 35 year old slugger who hit 7 homeruns in a season limited to 59 games due to injury, while letting go a $0.5 million 37 year old slugger who hit 12 homeruns in 34 games a injury season. Because he's a better GM than you.
  22. That poor team's fans are gonna have to live with his clutch reputation now. Poor bastards...
