  1. QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 07:10 PM) aww....squeamish?? Na, hardly at all. That is just f***ed up, though. I mean, I'll watch any movie that comes out, no matter how disgusting it's supposed to be. That never affects me at all. And I can look at your sig, but it's definitely not easy. It's probably a whole lot worse for other people.
  2. QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 06:58 PM) meaning?? He's probably also disturbed by your sig.
  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 05:15 PM) 1 year, $2.1 million for Millar, in case you wanted to know numbers. Another $500k possible with performance bonii. Wouldn't there only be one "i" in boni? Bonii would suggest that the singular form is bonius. Just throwing that out there, and also bonius would be a funny word.
  4. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 05:06 PM) I know they traded your buddy away, but let go. Comparing Anderson to Borchards numbers are a joke. Borchard hits in the .260's in AAA, puts up good home run totals. BTW he has been there for 3 plus years. Anderson was in AAA one year, he hit .295 with a higher OPS(829) than Borchard. But because Anderson isnt in your good graces you forgo the process of actually reviewing their minor league numbers. Just make a silly comparison and then move on. And on the Contreras had a great 2nd half and a good postseason. No one is questioning that. But take a good look at the careers of Buerhle vs Contreras and tell me who you would rather have. Garland and Garcia both had lower ERA's in the postseason, albeit in less starts.
  5. I don't hate DJ nearly as much as most people do. I realize he's not very good at his job, but at this point he's like a good friend doing the commentating. He's been around and I've grown to like the guy a whole lot. I find the broadcasts plenty interesting, when I'm not phasing them out because of tight situations, with Hawk and DJ. And there is no call, nothing, that can compare to their homerun call when DJ joins in for the YES!
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 03:32 PM) Ok les see how that tiger does in water vs the alligator where they are quick.... Alligators are pretty quick on land, at least in bursts. My computer sucks and I can never watch those kinds of movies at home. I imagine the movie is of a tiger killing an alligator. Could someone explain it better?
  7. I didn't know Prince Fielder, Andruw Jones, and Greg Maddux were Boras agents. I used to like those guys, but to hell with them. Maddux has really fallen out of grace with me the last year.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 02:30 PM) I think both of their histories speak for themselves. Kenny Williams won a WS without a single FA signed from the Borass stable. Scott Borass clients own a majority of the worst contracts in baseball history. Time after time, contract after contract history proves out that teams desparate to add a player from his group will get misled into paying more than anyone else was even close to willing to spend. Spending the extra money on those players for a team with a fixed budget means that they have to go without somewhere else. Williams and Reinsdorf have decided not to shop on 5th avenue, and instead went over to the outlet mall to get the best bang for their buck. They shopped around, compared lists and made out like bandits, while teams like the Yankees who believe price tag=World Series, were left watching the festivities on TV after paying nearly TRIPLE what the White Sox did. I really don't think that the Sox are afraid of Borass, I think they realize that he has lied to them in prior negotations, dragging their good name through the mud repeatedly, and just like someone who gets treated like crap in a certian store, they decided never to go back in there again to shop. They took their money elsewhere and did just fine. I agree with everything you said, but I don't know what you're talking about dragging their name through the mud. Could you explain that one?
  9. Ha, some people really need to settle down. If someone were to read this thread without looking at the title, they would think the Sox just signed a crappy player when there were 40 big-name players on the market. Take it easy. It's just the radio. It's like people are just looking for a reason to be pissed off this offseason.
  10. Ha, even if he waits for next year, he's gonna get drafted by the s***tiest team in the NFL. There would be no point in avoiding the Texans, because next year he'd just be on that year's version of the Texans.
  11. Just add another (former) roider to your team, Baltimore. That ought to help.
  12. Ha, a dollar. That's hilarious. It sounds so stupid that it's like a joke.
  13. QUOTE(HighHeat45 @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 10:06 PM) Not a chance next year. Gwinn and McGwire are both eligible. There was a huge list in the suntimes. I think you probably meant to say Gwynn and Ripken. There's no chance McGwire gets in next year. If he gets in at all, it won't be for a few years.
  14. Ha, there's no chance that Reggie White doesn't get in.
  15. Where the hell is Bengie Molina gonna sign? I'm surprised he's not taken yet.
  16. How the hell did Jeromy Burnitz get $6.7 million? According to ESPN.com's baseball page, he got a 1-year deal worth almost 7 million and an option.
  17. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 10:21 AM) He still posts on the MLB board though, I think. I could swear that the last time I stopped by there (I have no idea when it was, but within the year I think) I was shocked to see him still posting. I think his new name was Tenoose. I could be wrong, though.
  18. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jan 11, 2006 -> 02:38 PM) the verdict is still out on whether we upgraded the team. if thome isnt healthy in sept/oct, if we dont see an emerging CF with steady performance as AROW, if something happens to Cotts then we will feel the loss of Damaso, & the innings contribution from Vizcaino will definitely be missed imo. anyway it will be fun to see if the risks KW pulled justify the return. And if my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle. Whole lotta ifs in there.
  19. If Crede really wants to stay, he'll drop Boras. The White Sox give out fair contracts. Hell, they gave Timo $1,000,000 last year. With just about any agent, Crede would get a more than fair deal with the Sox. I guess we'll find out what he really wants eventually. Also, this is gonna sound bad, but how old is Boras? As soon as this guy dies, baseball will be a better sport.
  20. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 10:22 PM) Has a name that makes me think of Jackie Chiles. Likes a lot of obscure music and movies.
  21. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 07:29 PM) Incorgbl is one of the main reasons I came here from the MLB boards. It was fun to argue with him. At one time, I had a list of Incorgblisms written down, so I could reply to him with is own words when he was full of s*** (which was often!) He was also the impetus in picking this screen name, as he called me a monkey once, and during my Family Guy viewings, it just came to me. So I became EvilMonkey, and have been throwing my crap around ever since. And as much as I disagree with some of you over in SLP, I love you guys! And gals! OK, you can end this thread right here, since I seem to have a habit of bringing them to a halt. Baloney (I don't know how to do the trademark symbol)
  22. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2287389 Another star bows out of this stupid thing. Take note, Vazquez and Garcia. This thing is pointless.
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 04:58 PM) Aren't you dead? Only literally.
  24. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 04:39 PM) Grammatically, you are correct. In Spanish everything has gender and socks, or Sox, are feminine and so it should be 'Las'. But in order to imply that the members of the team are male, you break the rule and use 'Los'. Using the right gender is probably one of the hardest things for most people to get when they are learning Spanish. I've never had much trouble with that, but I've seen a lot of that all through HS and college. I'm a junior now, and I still see people writing la problema and such.
