Crap, this thing has grown from 2 pages to 15 today. Is there actually any news in all of this? Someone please help.

If the Orioles get Clement and Manny, they had BETTER get a s***load of money. I really don't want to see the Red Sox dump two guys they don't even want for the best SS in baseball just because the Orioles are the worst organization in baseball. They better hold anyone hostage that wants Tejada for a gigantic deal...unless that team is the White Sox, of course.

Re-sign Contreras, trade Vazquez mid-season
Milkman delivers replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
As soon as I signed in and saw the name of this topic on the main page, I knew who started it. -
They should just keep Contreras. And if they get absolutely barraged with great trade scenarios, then they should trade him. So unless you rape another team, keep him.

QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 01:37 AM) Saw it on Monday. I'll just say it's a difficult film. I saw it and it was a good movie, but I couldn't help but feel that I had already seen movies just like it.

Jon Garland signs a 3 year extension
Milkman delivers replied to LosMediasBlancas's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Really, there's probably only two ways this will go. They might trade Contreras for bullpen/prospects or they'll keep Contreras and use McCarthy in the bullpen. But, it's KW so we'll never know until something happens. -
Jon Garland signs a 3 year extension
Milkman delivers replied to LosMediasBlancas's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) I seriously doubt we sign Contreras to an extension at this point. We can't really afford to have 5 pitchers signed to sizeable deals, and I seriously doubt we'd let Mark and/or Freddy walk after 2007. This is especially true because McCarthy can probably give us similar, or at least credible, production for a much lower price. I gotta believe that the answer right now is that we see if someone will bowl us over with an offer for Jose or Jon, and if that doesn't happen we keep them both and put McCarthy in the pen. If Jose pitches poorly this year, maybe we try to deal him to a pitching desperate team at the deadline, if not, we let him walk and get the draft picks. We're going to need at least one cheap starter for the future, otherwise our payroll is going to get ridiculous. McCarthy isn't likely to get traded because he's way too valuable. He's a good, cheap, young pitcher, something that everyone is looking for. We'd have to get a big-time player back for him that doesn't have a ridiculous contract, something that probably won't happen. Out of a lot of possible scenarios/ideas in this thread, this post really seems to explain this signing the best. I am still pretty confused by this, though. -

Indians expected to sign Jason Johnson

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 26, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) Their Bullpen lost Howry already, and is still counting on Wickman to be its closer. Also, 1 of their guys was already caught Juicing, and would face a 50 game suspension if he was caught next year. Wickman is still old and injury prone, and it was maybe only by luck that he got through last year. They don't have an obvious backup plan either. Their starting rotation has lost the guy with the best ERA in the AL, even though he couldn't win games, and a guy who really helped carry them late in the season in Elarton. They've replaced them with a couple of guys who scare me less than the 2 they used to have, and who may very well be easier to beat next year. Make no mistake...the only way the Indians can improve next year is to improve offensively. Their bullpen has taken a step back, and it seems their starting rotation has done so as well. They need the guys they have to take a step forwards for them to get better - Sabathia and Lee on the mound have to improve, and their offense cannot start as slowly as last year if they want to be better. Both of those may happen, but they also may not. The Indians are gambling on both parts. But either way...the White Sox have almost certainly gotten better as well...our bench is better, we've added a massive lefty bat, we've added more power to our lineup, and we are starting the season with a guy who has a 99+ mph fastball closing instead of a guy with an 88+ mph fastball closing. And we may well have added thhe guy with the 2nd best changeup in the AL to our starting rotation out of our minor leagues. If our young team stays healthy, then the Indians will have to improve even more than we do next year. I think you're thinking of Rincon on the Twins. The only place where I see the Sox being worse than they were last year is the bullpen for now. If they can turn Garland into some quality relievers, then they're arguably better everywhere. -
what sox gear did you get for christmas
Milkman delivers replied to thedoctor's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I got: White Sox Champion jacket White Sox Champion pennant Variety of White Sox Champion shirts (about 3 or 4 from various people) White Sox Championship hoodie White Sox Championship windbreaker White Sox book by the Tribune White Sox World Series DVD White Sox Championship hat from my aunt (but I've never worn hats in my whole life) And with a gift card I got, I ordered the Sox Pride DVD and 4 White Sox books I didn't realize until just now how much Sox stuff I got. -
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Dec 24, 2005 -> 02:51 PM) yeah a gigantic gorilla is very logical. I guess you didn't like Sin City because if it were real life Benicio Del Toro's character wouldn't still be alive after an axe splits his head. An axe split his head? What are you talking about? SPOILER I'm pretty sure it was part of a gun that went into his forehead. And it did kill him, the part when he talked was just the guy's imagination.

I haven't seen it yet, but I have a couple questions. How is Jack Black in a serious role? I actually thought he's capable of it, so I wanted to see what other people think. Does King Kong die in the end?

Jesus Christ Overall, niceness outweighs naughtiness. Was good a lot last month! Politeness often good, but has room for improvement. Could help around house more instead of watching so much TV. Expected to move even higher up "nice" list.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 09:02 PM) Why sign a roid monkey? Aren't the Mariners the team that had all of those minor leaguers test positive for steroids? They were like the franchise with the most positive tests. I actually think it makes sense for Lawton to sign there. And let's hope Seattle makes Boston pay out of their ass for Reed.

Tony Dungy's son dies in Florida
Milkman delivers replied to chimpy2121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 01:04 PM) we dont know if that was really his myspace acct or if someone else made it up. But it looks to be originated a little while ago meaning they didnt make it after his death. That's why I used the "if" when I said it. It could be made up, but this guy sucks (or sucked rather) if he actually wrote that. -

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 12:57 PM) Idonno if that was meant to be in green or not but it was kind of dumb anyways. I feel bad for the Dungy family but in my opinion someone who commits suicide is pathetic and if they value their life that little dont deserve to live. Especially a kid that probably has had almost everything he ever wanted since Dungy has been raking in the money. It was extremely sarcastic and I agree with everything you just said. You know, besides the dumb part And if this guy actually said that about the DC snipers, well good riddance. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 12:51 PM) who bashed the family? Jesus, I didnt say anything bad. Look at the signs, 18 years old, college kid, found dead in dorm/apt. Looks like drugs, that all I was saying. We show a picture of a guy who gets run over by a truck, and everyone says funny s***, but then when a famous person's son dies, anything other than prayers is classless. I was making an observation about what I thought the cause might be, relax. Yeah, but Tony Dungy or his wife might read soxtalk and get angry. That guy that was run over by the truck probably didn't have any family that reads this website. -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 12:46 PM) how about "One joke poster"? Thanks, though I had already said I was kidding a few posts later.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 12:32 PM) Sorry about that then, all the clever nicknames around here get on my nerves. Hey, at least it rhymes. And you have to admit, everyone knows that Boras agents are usually greedy
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 12:26 PM) Oh, horray, he graduated from Cruddy and Crediocre. :rolly I was kidding, really. These guys can leave if they want. The team will survive without them.

Thanks for the WS, Jon. Now, see you in Hell. Joe Crede's new nickname, if this is to be believed, can be Joe Greedy.

If it was my house, let's just say they wouldn't be taking the guy away on a stretcher. They'd be scraping his brains off the floor.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) Slowly but surely this website is reaching "Kenny can do no wrong" mode. That's true. I have a lot of faith in KW now, but he can still screw up here and there. Nobody's perfect.
