Milkman delivers replied to Balta1701's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 12:52 AM) Doesn't surprise me, I thought it was out but it was very close to tell. The pass interference call and no touchback call against New England really hurt them, but most of all they hurt themselves. It was great to see the Patriots beat themselves for once instead of their opponents constantly beating themselves. Kasay in the superbowl? I was so pissed at that. -

The Broncos are just another team blowing a chance to beat New England. -

Now I hope Howry has a career-ending injury. The guy just won't give it up. A nice line drive off the schnozz would be nice for this douche. -

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 06:38 PM) The Chicago media can kiss my ass. They flip flop worse than in any other city. If the Bears win tomorrow, Smith will be a genius for having rested everyone. If they lose, he'll be a moron for having rested everyone. The Chicago media flip flop?! Get the f*** out It's the same way Dusty Baker is going from the greatest manager ever to a pariah in a few seasons. -

Let's hope. If they lose and he doesn't perform well, though, they'll catch a lot of s*** for not letting him play before. -

I really don't know what to expect from Grossman. It surprised the hell out of me that they didn't let him play at all in that last game to adjust and work off some rust. -
Sox Hire Chris Singleton to Join Ed Farmer

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 04:57 PM) Farmer doing Play By Play is bad enough. See, you're not going about this the right way. You gotta enjoy the broadcast for what it is, a terrible broadcast. The same way you do with really bad movies. -
Mike Sweeney recalls being offered steroids
Milkman delivers replied to SSH2005's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 09:33 AM) Here was their starting roster from 1999: Chad Kreuter Mike Sweeney Carlos Febles Joe Randa Rey Sanchez Johnny Damon Carlos Beltran Jermaine Dye Jeremy Giambi The only players that hit over 20 HRs was Sweeney, Beltran, and Dye interesting enough. Another odd note, in 2001, Damon, Dye, and Giambi all end up on the A's with Jason Giambi and Miguel Tejada. Those seem to be some pretty big coincidences. I understand what he said about why he would say something like this, but the timing seems odd, why now? What are you implying? -
I've never gone to Soxfest since I'm never around at that time. Is it usually just the guys from America? That's what it looks like here, for the most part.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 03:34 PM) ...or maybe the story is this big because it's a black guy beating up a white guy. Do you think black guys beat up black guys in holding cells, or guards beat up black guys at county and get no help from the guards? Ever hear about that on the news? I don't want to speak for someone else, but I think it's obvious that black-on-white crime and white-on-black crime draw much more media attention than white-on-white and black-on-black.

Who was banned?

^That's true. This story seems like it's pretty big right now, but it would be huge if the roles were reversed. My thought is that someone is going to be getting a lot of money because of this.

The Score pitches Ozzie Jr. as baseball talk host
Milkman delivers replied to HuskyCaucasian's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 12:03 PM) Great movie, an all time classic. Actually the guy you're specifically referring to is Ed Begley Sr. - he was the guy who sat next to the really old guy (actor Joseph Sweeney), on the same side of the table as Henry Fonda. Ed Begley was the guy who broad brushed the ethnic group, saying stuff like "you know how those people are ... they lush it up ... next thing you know someone's lying dead in the gutter". And then the other 11 jurors all turn away from him and face the window. What a great scene. Lee J. Cobb was the juror who had a simmering feud with his son, which clouded his vision towards all young people his sons age. He was the last holdout on the jury. The one juror just died a few months ago ... the little bald guy who sat next to Lee J. Cobb ... the actors name was John Fiedler. The only actors from the movie who are still alive are Jack Klugman and Jack Warden (the guy with the baseball tix). Ah, damn it. Way to make me look less credible, jackass I actually couldn't remember the guy's name that I was thinking of (and imdb only lists them as juror #1, juror #2, etc.). So, I just used the one guy I remembered, ha. The exact line I was thinking of was, "He don't even speak good English." And after looking again, it was Ed Begley. Good job, Jim. -
Once again, uses an extremely obscure reference

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 08:53 AM) Thank you for proving half my point.. 1. ITs not Bulls***, You just read the statement wrong.. Your right Polish, French, German etc Immigrants have been integrated into the AMERICAN culture..Do you think they would have if they were given the choice? If they had everything translated into their lanagaue, I don't think they would have the desire to learn English as they had. They more or less where forced into the american way of life. Again this comes down to catering one speical group, which I feel is wrong.. NO one in America ever got this speical treatment as we have given Spanish speaking immigrants..If anything we should give speical treatment to the people who were here first. Once again, there is no official language here. And when you use the word "cater," it really sounds like you're calling them lazy, as if they need things done for them because they can't handle it. You ever see the movie Twelve Angry Men? You sound an awful lot like Lee J. Cobb from the movie right now. You hardly have a handle on the English language yourself, if one were to judge you by your posts on this site. -
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 02:19 AM) If people are clamoring for Brokeback Mountain as a Best Picture lock in the Oscars, it must really be one HELL of a movie to defeat Munich. Best movie I've seen this year--probably in the last two or three. I would be shocked if Munich didn't win atleast two of the following four: original score, director, actor, best film. Does the movie feature gays or retards? That would help its chances exponentially.

Re-sign Contreras, trade Vazquez mid-season
Milkman delivers replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(quickman @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 10:51 PM) well my biggest issue is why they would want to trade a pitcher who is 28 and who they were rumored to get for years and is lock up for three years for a guy who plays right field with a huge contract who we don;t need. Somebody, college kids with all the stats, please tell me this. Contraras didn't sign. thats a fact, hope he does, but if he doesn't get the f*** out. and guess what ?we don't miss a beat. Stick your stats in your back pocket because vasquez traded this year won't happen in anyones wet dream. And thats a fact. and I will be happy to send a check to anyone who is willing to bet me on it. There its done quit acting stupid. I resent that. I'm a college kid and the last thing I'm known for is using a lot of stats. -
Isn't that the group started by that crazy ass rev. whatshisface? The guy whose whole family is basically married to one another?

QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Jan 12, 2006 -> 09:12 PM) I bet the gator can hold it's breath longer though... This reminds me of a show I saw on the Discovery Channel (I think) where they came up with scenarios of two different animals fighting each other and then tried to build machines that would determine which animal would win. IIRC, they did a tiger vs. a lion. A gator vs. a shark. It was mostly guesswork because usually the animals lived in different environments and it depended on which one got the jump over the other one. I remember that. They did it in my freshman year, so that was two years ago. I watched the lion vs. tiger one, and I still think the tiger should've won. Lions are sooooooo overrated We came up with a scenario where it was a grizzly bear vs. a black widow (spider, that is ). The entire show would consist of the bear walking around the forest doing its normal thing, then it just collapses and dies in the last two minutes of the show. They zoom in on the bear's back, and there's a spider giving the camera a pistol wink.
