  1. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 08:37 PM) What's mostly killing your team is the offense. You guys aren't scoring any runs. And defense, too. At least, that's what I'd assume. I haven't watched any of their games, just looked on gameday once in a while.
  2. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 08:33 PM) I read that entire thread, funny, but played out. It had funny parts, but they just kept repeating themselves for the most part. Same joke recycled 400 times. And nitetrain, go right ahead with it. I just thought it was similar and wanted to know if you had seen the other one.
  3. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 08:29 PM) Okay, basically you try to predict the headlines in tommorow's newspapers. If it's successful, great, if not, well it was worth a shot since I'm bored. I'll start: CUBBIES LET A GAME SLIP, DEREK LEE GETS ANOTHER HIT White Sox win another against defenseless bottom feeders of the league...inside, jay mariotti discusses how the Twins are setting up the White Sox for a big meltdown and the never ending attendance issue. You get this idea from the White Sox message board? If so, you probably won't come up with anything new. Their thread has like 500 responses.
  4. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 08:11 PM) Ha, awesome. And now the Twins are down 5-1 in the top of the 4th with 2 outs and a runner on 3rd. 6-1 now going to the bottom of the 4th. Boston and Cleveland all knotted up at 2 in the top of the 7th.
  5. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) A bloop single by Weeks that scored a run and then a 2-run double by the no-hitting pitcher, Doug Davis. Davis has a career .051 AVG. Ha, awesome. And now the Twins are down 5-1 in the top of the 4th with 2 outs and a runner on 3rd.
  6. What happened that caused him to melt down? Someone wave to him?
  7. QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 04:33 PM) Macha and Trammel were named as AL coaches today, so Francona may have offered it to Ozzie before choosing. Coaches from the A's and Tigers? Geez, they must have had a few people decline the opportunity, huh?
  8. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 04:09 PM) Solution: Open Up The Wallet JR Why bother opening up the wallet to pick up a bad pitcher. I don't want to spend money for the sake of spending money.
  9. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 03:33 PM) No one said that both won't make it. Calm down. The All-Star Game is meaningless crap anyways. Just saying that Francona is putting Ozzie in a bad position to choose one over the other.
  10. This is crap, they're two of the best pitchers in baseball, and this guy's gonna make Ozzie choose one? I'm sure that'll go over well. I'm sure the roster is already packed with overpaid Red Sox starters.
  11. Yes, I'm sure the all-time record is probably ridiculously high. Those guys back in the 20's and 30's pitched soooo many innings.
  12. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 03:26 PM) Maybe I wasn't being as fececious as I thought... Ha, I think it's spelled facetious. The way you spelled it kind of sounds dirty.
  13. This place seems a little emptier when Nuke doesn't start the Winner threads. Oh well, we have to carry on in his absence: HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Buehrle sucks, he couldn't even go a measly 26 scoreless innings. Anyway, I have only been able to watch a few innings here at work because it's going so fast and people keep calling. Good to see Mark is himself today.
  15. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 11:57 AM) lohse is only like 26 He still sucks, and I'm sure he'll hit free agency long before the Reds can contend. My point is that Lohse does nothing for them. Even if you give him the benefit of the doubt and say he'll be good for the time he's on the Reds, that team still won't contend and he's gone when he's a free agent.
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 12:09 PM) Also...you say that the Cubs haven't developed an All Star player since Grace. While that is true, they've also found several via trades (Ramierez, Lee) Didn't they sign Lee in free agency?
  17. What do we stop calling it a start? We're almost halfway through the season.
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 11:24 AM) From SI.com: Damn it, the Astros should trade us Oswalt anyway. They want to help us, don't they? They're not our friends if they don't.
  19. QUOTE(upnorthsox @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 11:03 AM) I would guess the same, however, if Cincy is looking for SP and Minny is willing to part with Loshe to get Randa, I don't see where we are anywhere in the ballpark unless we deal BMac which would be........god damm stupid! Now if they were willing to take Adkins............. Well, let's look at it this way. First, Lohse sucks dog balls. He sucks out loud. Second, wouldn't they rather have prospects that will contribute a few years down the road, and have them for a good amount of time? They're not going to contend for years and years, so what's the point of getting Lohse (who sucks and will be gone by the time that they can contend).
  20. Oh, a day game. It looks like I'll be watching this one at work. Thank God for break rooms.
  21. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:45 AM) If Randa is willing to accept a bench role I would be interested in acquiring him. The Sox do have starters to spare so if that is what Cincy is asking we can certainly meet that price. I don't really know if it's a bench role. He'd be the infield version of Carl Everett...there'd be plenty of PT.
  22. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:39 AM) I sure can't say why they'd trade Oswalt, but I'd like to see what that damn article says. The only scenario I can think of is that Houston might want to do an Indians type purge .. start over from scratch type thing. That's probably what they want to do. That team is going nowhere fast. All their stars are old for the most part. Clemens won't be around long and that contract of his will make it pretty hard to get rid of him. A guy like Oswalt or Lidge would bring in a lot of good, young talent to rebuild with.
  23. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:20 AM) Just spoke to my Cincy 'source', he says NO WAY Randa for Crede goes down. They have this Edwin Encarnacion kid they are in love with and grooming as their 3B of the future. He suspects Randa will be dealt by the deadline, but for starting pitching. FWIW. Well, we I don't want to do a Crede for Randa straight trade anymore. I'd like to have both, the more I think about it.
  24. How much do you think Billy Beane is going to want for a former Cy Young Award winner? Yes, it's been a few years since he won it, but he's going to use that to get more. For lack of a better term, Beane is going to get an ass-load of talent for Barry Zito.
