  1. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 01:52 PM) Everett can't do that. Perhaps Moises Alou can. Trading for Schmidt means depleting the farm system. No other way. Anderson, Sweeney, Anderson would be the core. It's giving me an ulcer just thinking about it. It's like putting the house down as collateral at a chance to strike gold in Vegas. As a fantasy GM I don't think I can do it. That's ridiculous. Alou is probably as bad as Everett in the field. About the other thing, Schmidt is an ace. Give up anything to get him. I'm sick of people caring more about prospects than proven talent. Jesus Christ, he's Jason f***ing Schmidt.
  2. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 01:41 PM) ill pass, one good game for saarloos and people think hes amazing No, how about Saarloos has a few years of dependable service that would make him a good 5th starter, and people think he'd be a good fit with Chavez in the deal.
  3. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 01:01 PM) I'm not certain he's the answer. Linked Here I hope KW is very careful and checks all the information. Ha, at first I thought you were treating it seriously.
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) Which is better than a thread on Randa, a thread on Schmidt, a thread on Chavez, a thread on Castilla, a thread on Lidge, a thread on Oswalt,a thread on Moyer, a thread on Guardado etc ... to where there is nothing on the front page but "[insertmediaoutlet] hates the Sox" and trade threads, to go along with the day's game thread. The board will be much more user friendly like this, in the big picture. Hold on! I didn't know we were interested in Moyer. GET IT DONE!!!!!!!!!!
  5. QUOTE(Jimenez4MVP @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 11:00 AM) Im a Braves fan too and your friend is right... Kolb is a piece of s***, I hate the guy. He has like 27 IP and 22 walks, its pathetic.. His mid 6 ERA, wow.. I hate him more than anyone on that team, possibly in the league. Yeah, he seems to be the Braves' version of Billy Koch. It's eerily similar. On my friend's birthday, we were talking online and he said he had to go get some sleep because he was working tomorrow. Before he left, he said, "Well, Braves are gonna lose, so there's no point watching it...Kolb is coming in." I laughed because there was like a 5-run lead in the 9th and said he can't be that bad. Well, 20 minutes later I'm looking at scores I see that the Braves lost. I couldn't believe it, and I thought only Billy Koch could be that bad. I felt bad for my friend because his team blew it hardcore on his birthday. The Sox usually lose on my birthday, but never in that style.
  6. Great, let them have more fans to enjoy their s***ty team.
  7. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 09:41 AM) The thing that surprises me is that some people don't want a proven ACE like Schimdt but will settle for a #5 starter...man the Sox staff would be frightening if they added Schimdt to it.. I'd be more than willing to trade McCarthy for him. It's not even a contest in my mind.
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 12:50 AM) Chris Reitsma My friend is a Braves fan, he says that Reitsma hasn't been too bad. He absolutely hate Dan Kolb. I can't blame him either, that guy is completely awful.
  9. Anyone see the cover of the Sun Times today? It has a picture of Garland and Lee. Garland looks like a bad man in it. It's awesome.
  10. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 11:04 PM) Congrats Spurs! I was definitely pulling for them. I just can't root for the Pistons. I think I know why. Is it because... De-troit Sucks! ?
  11. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 11:04 PM) 10% or 20% isn't bad, considering that before the season it was 3%. I didn't see how they said it, because actually those sound like great odds considering everything. It wasn't really a compliment. They did say we'd have the best record in the AL when it's all said and done, but they compared us to the 2001 Mariners. They both said we have no playoff experience, like them, and that will hurt us. I think they're both saying we'll go nowhere in the playoffs, but I'm picky about anything anyone on ESPN says.
  12. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 07:32 PM) thanks for tracking that down...I knew it was said somewhere, but I sure as hell wasn't going to look. All I did was do a search for the word "clickable." I remember that word being used.
  13. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 07:19 PM) Since when? http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...00entry736500
  14. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 07:11 PM) I don't want to start another thread, because this board is already full of no information based trade ideas, but I think the Sox should look hard at Tony G. 1. Can play 3b, SS, 1b, or an OF spot if needed. 2. By the time KC is ready to compete, Tony G will be well gone, so dont tell me we cant trade in the divison 3. Wont have to worry about team chemestry. Knows Frank, Aaron, Paul,Mark Jon,Marte, Crede. Not looking at Tony to start, just more depth. Wasn't Graffanino really unhappy about not being a starter here before? And didn't he complain about it?
  15. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) Get Randa, release Timo and use Cruddy to split time spelling Randa and Konerko at 1st. Ah, I see my idea stuck with some people.
  16. When someone else mentioned Shea Hillenbrand, that got me thinking. I thought we could get Randa and have him play both 3B and 1B to spell Crede and Konerko. Hillenbrand could do that, too.
  17. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:05 PM) How about KW trade back for Carlos Lee(Brian Anderson and Joe Crede) and move Lee back to 3rd!!! I think Lee actually started out as a 3B.
  18. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 09:55 PM) Big whoop. This team has won absolutely nothing. The 1983 team was up 20 games at one point. The 2001 Mariners were around that too. The 2000 White Sox were in the lower single-digits consistently. They faded without winning a playoff game. The 2003 Royals were up 7.5 at the All-Star Game, 8.5 over the team that won the division that year. Where are the 2003 World Series flags at Kauffman? We must never, ever lose sight of reality, folks. This team has yet to win anything, this team is still vulnerable. This team can still improve, and I hope that Kenny isn't among those who is drunk with joy over our recent win streak. It sure sounds like Ozzie isn't. That said, it could be worse. Far worse. There's nothing wrong with celebrating that. But let's not go overboard. Yes, we'll remember that when we're playing the games.
  19. HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!! Uh oh, the Tigers have won a few in a row. Are people going to start calling them contenders. Oh, and Kenny Rogers is getting knocked around, to those of you that were discussing his and Buehrle's ERA earlier.
  20. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 09:43 PM) I wouldnt be looking ahead to who you play in the playoffs just yet. Just enjoy your run. Let the chips fall when they may Its easier to get let down when your team loses in the playoffs. Im not saying I hope the Sox lose to the Yanks int eh first round or anything, but we are not even to the All Star break The Yankees would have to make the playoffs for that to happen.
  21. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) Anyone still freaking out about Cleveland? I never did. They're not good and they haven't been good this whole year.
  22. Red Sox have to fight their way through the Orioles and Yankees. I know the Yankees aren't good, but they always play each other hard...kind of like the Cubs with us. They'll have a tough, tough time getting into the playoffs. I'd rather the Red Sox win this game and completely put the Indians out of contention.
  23. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 09:05 PM) Ah, Placido Polanco. *sniff* What could have been.... Hey, at least we can be thankful that he didn't go to a contender! HAHAHAHA, Tigers suck!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) i smell ten games ahead after today Very bold prediction!
  25. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 08:36 PM) Gotta link to it? http://www.forums.mlb.com/n/mb/message.asp...sox&msg=38228.1
