QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Jan 29, 2013 -> 09:19 AM) Love Sherlock. My understanding is that they are doing one more 3 episode season. Then they run out of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's source material. Each episode is an adaptation of one of the stories. I've heard the CBS show isn't bad, but I have also heard that it is closer to a show like House than to Sherlock Holmes. Thoughts on that? I do know that CBS reached out to the BBC to remake Sherlock for an American audience and were told to pound sand... I would say it is closer to a show like The Mentalist. He works with the police but is not an officer, he solves crimes with the power of observation, but instead of reading people he reads clues at crime scenes as well as people.

2012-2013 Sox off season Catch-All thread
QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Jan 29, 2013 -> 01:17 AM) I'm well aware of the white sox history, it's just that I always hated all those uniforms that had light blue and red colors. Plus, I started being a Sox fan around 1993 or so when Mike LaValliere was the catcher, so for the entire time I was a Sox fan, they always wore black and silver/grey or whatever you want to call that color. Part of what appealed to me as a Sox fan IS the jersey color, and for me there was always a symbollic partnership with the black sox uniform and the South Side of Chicago. Honestly, I just can't see it any other way now. The sox had so many different uniforms all these years because they never had anything that was worthy enough to stick, nothing that was iconic enough to stay. Pretty much all the past Sox uniforms were garbage, and I'm saying that as a long-time sox fan. It wasn't until 1991 in the White Sox's long history that someone with artistic talent finally designed a Sox uniform that represents the South Side very well and looks very sharp to the eye. The current Sox uniforms, had they been introduced in the 1910's, would've been the Sox uniforms for a century now like how the Yankees pretty much used the same uniforms for a century. You just don't change a uniform once you find something that works. That's just a collossal marketing mistake, and it's bound to piss off thousands of fans who feel that the current uniforms are too iconic to change now. Besides, if there was anything I'd change at all with any of the uniforms, I'd change how the road grey Sox uniform has that ugly cursive lettering for Chicago to something that looks more old-fashioned like CHICAGO in standard text, like how the Yankees and Boston has old-styled text on their uniforms. So yea, I've always been aware of all the past Sox uniforms, and I think they were all UGLY. The only thing I liked about any of the past uniforms were the Sox logo on the 1912 and 1917 uniforms. And not only that, but as a fan I feel that if the Sox ownership changed their uniforms now, such as getting rid of the black and grey colors, that it would be a huge BETRAYAL to the fanbase. It's not like the Sox are moving to another city like how the Marlins moved to Miami. So I do consider my ties to the Sox to be deep if I get that offended by the Sox changing their uniforms to something dumb like what they had from 1906-1911 and 1932-1990.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 28, 2013 -> 02:49 PM) Ya I can see that. And Kyyle I'd be thrilled if you were right about this Heyman stable vs everyone type deal but I doubt it. Brock-hhh 2 seems to be almost a lock unfortunately. As far as Ziggler, I don't think they have any idea what to do with him at this point. I read the tentative plan is to have Jericho resume his program with Ziggler.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 28, 2013 -> 09:09 AM) Heyman to get performance review by Vince tonight. Brock shows, attacks Vince, hhh runs out. Just a guess. I have to think Brock Rock would be more interesting. One thing also to consider, Ziggler still has the briefcase

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 28, 2013 -> 08:44 AM) I'd be shocked if we don't get Rock-Cena 2 and Triple H-Lesnar 2. And I have no interest in either of those. Hopefully they switch that up but I highly doubt they do. Mania shouldn't be a place for rematches imo(though it does happen quite often). HHH Lesnar I doubt, there has been nothing to build that up, HHH hasnt been around at all. This is gonna be Paul Heymans stable vs the world. I have to imagine at some point soon we will get confirmation that The Shield is under Heyman

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 28, 2013 -> 08:23 AM) Which is all fine and dandy. I was a huge Rock fan growing up and I have no issue with him having the belt but I do have an issue with the two headliners of Wrestlemania being rematches, that's f'n ridiculous imo. Whatever, I'll enjoy Punk-Taker and whatever Bryan, Ziggler and Bryan do and pretty much not care about the rest of the card. But as I said before, no matter how much I complain I'll still be watching, so I'm the idiot. Remember, there is a PPV between now and Mania, so a lot can change. I still think Lesnar will enter the picture

I hate to be like this, but I hope they write the baby Jaime out of the show. I dont like it at all, the whole giving valium to a baby part is just not funny. Joan Cusack is being wasted in her role.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jan 28, 2013 -> 12:13 AM) This is true, but it still leaves a sour taste in those who enjoy wrestling. The Rock was a helluva enteretainer...when I was 15...now he comes across childish and he's not a very good wrestler. Guys like him are why I stopped watching WWE and moved on to indy wrestling. Had to watch some indy wrestling to cleanse my pallet. I know I posted highlights of the 04 TPI but the 06 was just as good...Give it a whirl if you wanna see some wrestling Day 1 Day 2 WWE isnt wrestling. WWE is sports entertainment. The Rock hasnt been fully in WWE for what, 12 years now? And he comes back and commands the spotlight still, that is awesome. It will be interesting to see what this year brings for him, he has movies to promote and now has the strap.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 26, 2013 -> 04:33 PM) While I can't blame someone for wanting to make more money on Star Wars, it's worth questioning whether the Star Wars concept can succeed today in any form. Liking the original Star Wars is in part allowing it to exist in its original context, where it was revolutionary and far more novel. Just a thought. They will succeed, absolutely. The issue is, will they be met with scorn from critics and fans like 1-3 were. The stories past RotJ are pretty good, and the prequel stories prior to Phantom Menace are also very good. Using those stories and doing your best not to "Jar Jar Binks" it up in order to sell more toys will keep the fanboys coming back to the theater over and over, have no doubt.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jan 26, 2013 -> 03:46 PM) Batman, X Men and Avengers weren't made for the masses? Fair point, but if they pick an unknown or art house director and it blows up in their faces, that is something that could be very hard to recover from. I think JJ Abrams is somewhat safe and at the same time he is a director that has some experience working with a revered property and treating it as such. I also think that everyone except George Lucas himself realizes that Star Wars needs to reinject the mysticism and bring back the gritty elements that made ANH and Empire stand out.
