  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) They definitely needed him. Sizemore & Choo are still out for several weeks. Michael Brantley is decent. Then who do they have in the OF? Travis Buck? Ezequiel Carrera? Austin Kearns? Not anymore. DFA
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 11:52 PM) Someone (probably Balta) will throw out his batting average over the last month or two and it will look "okay," just like Juan Pierre. Someone will respond with his SLG/OPS and on-base percentage numbers, which will show him in the Bottom 5-10% of MLB players. Then a response will be that he's just a rookie and not getting consistent playing time. To which the response will be that he's playing only against the most favorable pitching match-ups and he'd actually be worse if he was playing everyday. Which will lead back to a discussion of his minor league numbers and how he's adjusted over time every place he's played. Which will lead to the fact that in none of those situations was he playing in the heat of a major league pennant race. And of course the comparisons to B. Anderson in 2006 and the fact that HE SHOULDN'T be relied on offensively with all the veterans we have...to which someone will say you just can't have a 3B hitting with a 550 OPS, even if it's Brooks Robinson. And then we'll hear that almost all the MLB 3B are having pretty "off" seasons statistically, and that 675-725 OPS over there is the "new 800 gold standard" at the position. You missed the part where you jump in and reference Jessica Alba, Justin Beiber, and Norberto Martin. If we are going to be correct, that has to be in there
  3. I dont understand, I thought the Red Sox had an amazing offense and the White Sox only had a 10 percent chance to win and Gavin was a mental midget in important games. Does not compute

  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 07:01 AM) Huger than the six games they play vs. the Sox in September? is much huger. like, hugest. this big ->.................................................................................
  6. Isnt the part that gets these cases thrown out usually proving that the "male" was less qualified?
  7. QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 07:59 AM) The two year deal isn't done with Williams yet. After losing Davis and Aromashodu in free agency, would the Bears consider spending some more to bring in Sims-Walker to complement Williams, or are they the same receiver? they didnt "lose" much with those two. aromashadu basically quit the team because he didnt want to learn a different wr position, and davis was basically a special teams player

I dont think it is possible for me to be any more excited for Prometheus than I already am
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 11:32 AM) To be honest, I would have liked his OBP on the Sox. I would like it before August. After, not so much
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 11:24 AM) F*ck Kreutz, bring me Shaun O'Hara. BRING ME THE HEAD OF O'HARA!!!!!!
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 10:39 AM) If the Bears lose Kreutz...O/U on their wins in 2011: 4.5? and now that they lost Rashied, what are you thinking, 2.5 now?
  13. I think the deals that KW has been working on were going to happen regardless of the result of this week or last week. 2 weeks of good is not going to negate 3 1/2 months of suck/mediocre.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 08:32 PM) I got it the first hundred times. Law hates the sox. what? really? since when?
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 12:05 PM) Please. Tampa has won two of the last three division titles in that same division. Toronto is coming. They have the best GM in baseball and a WAVE of talent on the horizon. lmao. j4l, you are as wishy washy as they come when it comes to other teams. they are always the bestest evar11!!!
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 11:24 AM) In a vacuum, the deal is fine. I, however, feel the vacuum's bag is full of dust and s*** and maybe some cat vomit and needs to be f***ing changed. /weird metaphor I believe this is a bagless vacuum we are using
  17. kOna knows his stuff. He was on to Peavy before anyone knew that Peavy rejected the deal
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 08:08 AM) Really, you think a guy who missed half the season last year with debilitating injuries that might come back is worth $10 mil a year? Come on, it was obvious last season that the Tarvaris Jackson-Sidney Rice connection was elite.
  19. QUOTE (T R U @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 11:55 AM) I dunno man, Punk is huge right now how good for ratings/buys would it be right now to have him off TV for a month or so? I wanna see where its goin before I just assume Cena is gonna beat Punk and this is over at summerslam.. It obviously took a lot to get Punk to stay, I doubt that they are going to end this that soon.. Punk was always good, but its like ever since they let him say whatever he wanted he has turned into some huge superstar.. they cant blow this I dont think they would have to necessarily keep him off tv for the entire time. Run-ins, video interruptions, watchign from the crowd, ROH appearances. They could have milked this cow a little bit more. Regardless, I am watching.
  20. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 11:44 AM) Its the difference between getting a multi-year deal at 33 instead of 34. I think his agents probably have some metrics that say he is better off hitting free agency this season I would guess, especially given the uptake in production he has had over the last six weeks. Sox payroll couldn't support him though and we dont have the prospects to get the Cubs to eat some money. Yeah, but at this point in his career I highly doubt he gets a multi year deal that exceeds the possible 16.5 mil he will recieve next year. IMO its a pretty dumb move, he isnt going to be setting the free agent world on fire at 33 or 34, teams arent going to be handing him 4 and 5 year deals
  21. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 11:36 AM) Rosenthal per MLBTR "If traded, Ramirez would likely want his new club to drop his $16MM option for 2012 so that he can hit the open market after this season, Rosenthal reports. Ramirez's '12 option technically becomes guaranteed if he gets traded. " http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/aramis_ramirez/ that is hilariously dumb if true
  22. Carson Palmer will be traded. The Bengals are going to want some sort of compensation, they wont just let him go away
  23. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 11:29 AM) Its been reported multiple times that he would want any team that trades for him to void the option as part of compensation for waiving his no trade clause. So that is really not an issue. But he would only be a rental and projects to be a Type B FA. who reported that? That is the first i heard he didnt want his money
  24. The team that acquires ARam isnt going to want to pay that option next season, and I doubt ARam will agree to waive it A la KRod. It probably wont happen
