QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 05:49 PM) Yeah, GoldenEye isn't a big deal. And Daniel Craig is a much better Bond anyway. Too bad the franchise is in trouble though. That would make a good discussion in the film thread. Stupid MGM screwing things up for a franchise that finally was heading the right direction again
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 05:34 PM) Left tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson and defensive end Vernon Gholston were in the car with Edwards. Im surprised Ferguson didnt get flagged for holding
  3. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 02:51 PM) It has nothing to do with babysitting the young men. Yes, we know they are adults. The issue is that LaRussa is a careless individual. If he isn't sober now, then based on his DUI there's no telling what he is capable of. Why the hell wouldn't he do it again? He obviously has no problem getting overserved and driving. He can't control his own life and you want him to manage young, impressionable men? I don't want to talk about this but I guess we HAVE to because the fact that he's like 70 years old isn't enough evidence to stop this discussion. LaRussa for manager....really???? Good Lord, how is that man the future of the WhiteSox? Please explain. Yeah that one DUI 3 years ago really makes me think that there is no telling what he will do next. Im thinking mass murder QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 04:10 PM) I don't want LaRussa. How bout Torre. We need an elder statesman type next time around. Joe Torre DOB July 18, 1940 Tony LaRussa DOB October 4, 1944
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 12:21 PM) Frankly...I'm not sure that's a terrible idea. Maybe he doesn't need to be baby-sitting them when they go out...but taking steps to make sure that they take a cab, like say...making sure they have the numbers of a cab company, making sure to remind them, or possibly even arranging transportation for a group beforehand...might not be terrible plans. Maybe you are projecting your idea of a perfect manager because your argument against LaRussa isnt holding much water. The fact of the matter is that LaRussa had next to nothing to do with Hancock killing himself, the only thing LaRussa needs to concern himself with is his own DUI. And again, LaRussa's own DUI has nothing to do with how the rest of the team conducts themselves either. You are acting like this is a regular occurrence for the Cardinals.
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 11:52 AM) http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/21/sports/b...rss&emc=rss Wait, the new york times is saying that a player will ONLY sign with a New York/New Jersey Team? No way, i find that so hard to believe QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 11:57 AM) Seeing the name Chris Broussard makes me want to vomit and reminds me of very, very, very bad times earlier this summer. Steve9347's personal "30 days of Night"
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 11:45 AM) And remember when Guillen reminded them to take a cab on the way home so that they wouldn't wind up in jail? im sure guillen was standing at the door telling everyone to get a cab
  7. Ozzie said just the other day that he needed to decide between Lucas Harrell and Carlos Torres who was going to start the next day, and that he would talk to his Vodka. Im pretty sure half of the dugout ran out to Binnys Beverage Depot after the game and bought a handle of vodka
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 07:54 AM) You don't think there's any connection between a player who drinks and drives and a manager who does the exact same thing? Not at all. These guys arent being taught life lessons by LaRussa, they are being managed by him.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 12:45 PM) There's no reason to assume that our current manager is sober either. Ditto every other manager in the league. The difference with LaRussa, as I pointed out quite early in this thread...is that his team has had issues with alcohol that few other teams in the league have had to deal with. What did you point out? You made a backhanded comment, and then didnt say anything when I asked you about it. Hancock got blasted and decided to drive home, i still fail to see how this has anything to do with LaRussa coaching the team? Did he force Hancock to drink and drive?
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 08:35 PM) That is what Lovie said in post game. Thats not what Aromashadu said postgame
  11. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 07:13 PM) I think Aromashadou is still faster than Bennett. But Bennett is probably a more competent blocker and has the best hands of any receiver on our team. So maybe the combination of those two things led him to taking DA's snaps. I really think the 3 drops had more to do with it than anything. I get the feeling they really like Aromashadu, and they want him to be better than that. A kick in the ass, if you will

  13. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 05:24 PM) I'm sure that Milkman has seen his fair share of cougars. i deliberately omitted that word so that what I said could not be misconstrued
  14. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 04:40 PM) Congratulations, Nintendo. You've managed to make a game for the Wii that matches the graphics of one you released for the 64 over 13 years ago. Am I the only person disgusted that they replaced Pierce Brosnan with Daniel Craig for a game about a movie that starred Pierce Brosnan? I'll admit, for the novelty alone I want to try this game out, but I am glad that the most exciting game my system has to release this year is a not a remake, with basically the same graphics, of a game that came out half my lifetime ago. This isnt even close to the most exciting game that has(or will) come out this year. Super Mario Brothers Wii, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid Other M, Kirbys Epic Yarn Sin & Punishment 2, and the upcoming Zelda title are much bigger fish than this port of Goldeneye
  15. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 01:48 PM) I really don't think I'll ever see a coyote where I live. Someone saw a raccoon a few years ago, and it was the talk of the town. You never know, you might see a mountain lion someday
  16. http://scores.espn.go.com/nfl/conversation?gameId=300919006 Dallas fan abe3232, "you are all just jealous, however Jerry and Wade are all at fault here" lol
  17. There are plenty of Coyotes around where I live(Sleepy Hollow/Dundee). I actually saw one at the Route 31/I 90 on ramp waiting to cross the road like it was an everyday occurence
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 11:51 AM) Still made the single worst football decision I've ever seen. Starting Rob Johnson over Doug Flutie against the Titans. I will never stop holding that decision against him; literally broke a franchise for a decade. The Curse of Flutie
  19. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 10:25 AM) I thought Martz switching to quick "dump" passes to compensate for the horrible o-line was an absolute stroke of genius. He knew their rushers were leaving huge holes and took advantage of that. In the past, this adjustment wouldnt ave been made until after half time, and by then Cutler woudl have been in an ambulance. Nonononono, Turner would have switched to a much better run up the middle philosophy
  20. Score fans that get on the air want every 1985 Bear on the coaching staff everytime they call in. No regards to preperation, experience in coaching, time put in. If you were in the 1985 Superbowl then you can coach anybody. And they all want the 46 defense to be installed immediately as well, and that is why letting Riviera go was such a sin.
  21. I took my daughter to see How to Train Your Dragon(IMAX 3D) and this trailer played gave me goosebumps, I love the daft punk music in the trailer. I am also a big fan of the second trailer
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 09:13 PM) So would I. I'll laugh my ass off last year when Guillen is building Florida into a big time winner and LaRussa is getting second guessed every day like Guillen gets second guessed now. so you will retroactively laugh your ass off? Will Guillen be given full GM duties as well as managerial duties so he can build his big time winner?
  23. actually I have seen quite a few foxes in the past couple years. I saw one this past winter getting into a neighbors garbage around dawn on my way to work, I saw one this summer when I was driving to see my dad at the hospital, it crossed route 59 like it was no big deal and just kept going, it was around barrington. Sadly I have seen more than a few of them squished on Route 20 and Route 31 near Fox river(go figure).
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 03:36 PM) It's not unfair once it's happened. Im sure LaRussa forced him to drink and drive. Probably forced Darryl Kile to smoke weed too. It is unfair, these are grown men who are responsible for themselves, LaRussa is responsible for what they do on the field, not off the field.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 10:09 AM) I watched The Fisher King and Punch-Drunk Love in the last two days. Neither one of them was what I expected...both were a little strange, to be honest. I really liked both of them, and didn't even realize that I watched two relatively serious movies starring comedic actors. Most people (if not all) agree that Robin Williams is a great actor, but I think Adam Sandler really has it in him to be a pretty good one. I am a big fan of The Fisher King, Bridges and Williams are great together, and the way their characters are tied together is done very well.
