QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 16, 2009 -> 01:09 PM) Ah, that makes sense. You are correct. JPN, I like what I have seen of him so far in movies, but I never watched his show. EDIT: It just seems that he is the same character, with minor differences from one character to the next, in his own movies/shows. I think each of his characters are unique, but the similarity lies in him making the people around him extremely uncomfortable to see their reactions. the movie "Ali G in Da House" was kind of funny, but nowhere near as funny as his character on the show. But there was a big difference because the movie was just supposed to be a comedy, Bruno and Borat were both movies with real people and real reactions. Its too bad he couldnt pull that off with Ali G before he became famous

Rosenthal says we could be interested in Rios.
To me, one of Rolen, Rios or Wells is going with Halladay if Halladay gets traded. Rolen would be ideal given the situation right now, but I wouldnt be opposed to Rios. Wells is the black plague though, that contract is going to kill someone in the next couple of years, I really hope its not the sox

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 16, 2009 -> 01:17 AM) I think Eric Young would make a good announcer if he had a better voice and didn't laugh after everything that was said. I liked the other announcer they had as well, I forget his name. So you are saying Eric Young would make a good announcer if he was not Eric Young

Goldstein on Viciedo: 'Very Disappointing'
I think what is being missed most of all in the discussion of whether he is a bust or not is his progression from month to month. Everyone who labels him a disappointment looks at his numbers as a whole. Yes, absolutely they are disappointing at face value, but if you look at his start and where he was at the end of may, and compare that month to month up until right now, I think his numbers look damn impressive

MMA Thread
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 09:29 AM) I'm not a big fan of the UFC by any means, but I watch almost all of the PPV's now. I clearly remember the fight between Hamill and Bisping in England, I believe, and remember being completely sure the hometown decision went his way. My friends are huge UFC fans and when the pre-fight stuff was going on all they kept talking about was that they were pretty sure this was Bispings first fight outside of England and that he had been fed a steady diet of tomato cans up until that point. After watching all the trash talking Bisping was doing towards Hendo during the UFC competition on Spike, seeing him get knocked out like that was awesome. The followup punch was kind of scary seeing how prone Bisping was, but it didnt do any more damage so it was all good.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 07:25 PM) The books get progressively darker as well, as the characters age, which makes sense. I believe the last book will be two movies, and directed by Guillermo Del Toro. At least, that was the going rumor previously. Should be delicious. I have really grown to appreciate Guillermo Del Toro. Pans Labyrinth was really well done, and I really liked both Hellboy movies. Im excited to see what he does with the Hobbit prequels and if he gets to do the final Harry potter movies thats going to be really cool.

2009 All-Star Game Discussion Thread
QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 07:18 PM) seriously, in this age of ESPN, and internet voting, will there EVER be another White Sox starter in the All-Star game (that's not a pitcher)? are you asking if the Sox will have a position player as a starter, or just plain having a position player in the All Star game? I dont think it will be too long before Beckham is mentioned as an all star. Just last year we had Quentin there, I dont think its that far off to have another position player in the game

The movies are getting better though. The last movie was pretty good, a dark movie for the Harry Potter series. IMO once people actually started dying in the storyline the movies took a big turn for the better

Some interesting material between the lines
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 12:47 PM) Cooper's philosophy of less velocity and more command works with a lot of guys. Nick isn't one of them, as he's airing it out for the Reds and throws some pretty filthy stuff. His fastball is in the 95 mph range with a lot of movement. The Coop method seems to save arms. The Dusty method shreds them

I dont know why the neighbor felt the need to get a shovel to hit Koch. We all know that a regular bat works just fine

Official 2009-2010 NHL Thread
I have to say it is very odd to let him do all of the negotiating with FA's like Hossa Kopecky and Madden, only to fire him a week or so later. How many baseball GMs would be fired after signing 3 major free agents like that, even WITH his colossal RFA paperwork screwup. Jerry Angelo basically did the same thing with Warrick Holdman and D'Wayne Bates and he didnt get fired for it. Im not saying that he didnt need to be fired, I just dont understand why they would let him carry on with his job through free agency and then give him the ax
